7 Tips For Bringing Your Online Store To Your Customers

November 19th, 2008

“I’m amazed at this! I put very little effort into this online business, and already I’m making over $14000 a month!”

We’ve all heard these testimonials in ads for “starting your online business”. We are offered a “turnkey” website already designed and filled with widgets to sell on the web.

The ads lead us to believe that hordes of customers will flock to our site, wallets in hand, ready to avoid the downtown mobs. We’re promised an overnight fortune with little or no effort. We purchase the site and set up the store, only to find that reality falls well short of expectations.

The “Snafu” of Online Marketing

Perhaps one of the greatest disappointments for the novice online marketer is to discover that the effort she has put into designing and publishing a monetizing website may very well be wasted because no one comes to it.

In the real world (as compared to the virtual one), a business is generally set up by first renting space (hopefully in an area with heavy traffic, such as a shopping mall or on main street) designing and setting up the store, filling it with inventory, displaying the merchandise, and advertising to bring in customers with wallets ready to buy.

While location is important, most effort is directed at bringing the customers to the site, not the other way around.

In the virtual world, however, one has to bring the website to the customer. Every potential customer sits in front of the same computer – essentially the same physical location for ALL businesses on the web.

The business that can effectively bring itself to that customer will succeed. All others will fail.

7 Ways to Bring the Store to the Customer

Let’s say you do a search for a Google keyword such as “luggage”. You’re likely to come up with tens of thousands, if not millions, of potential websites, some selling luggage, others giving product reviews.

Will your site be among the ones Google or Yahoo finds? Not too likely, and if your site doesn’t appear in the top 10 or 20, on page one or two, the potential customer is not likely to go to page 3. Expecting her to find your site on page 150 is pretty much out of the question. She simply isn’t going to go there to find your store.

Consequently you MUST bring it up in the search ranks…to her, where she is sitting, in front of the computer.

Ranking Your Site

Today, most people are finding what they are searching for using Google.

Google ranks your site primarily by how many links are located on other sites pointing to it, and the context in which your link is found. For example, if your site is about dogs, and your link is found in the context of dogs, that link will be more valuable than if it is found in some other context or in no context.

Bringing your store to your customers by improving your rankings requires a few techniques, and a lot of hard work. Here are seven suggestions for methods that are not “Catch-22”, i.e. don’t require traffic to get traffic.

1. Writing and marketing articles.

Google and other search engines rank a website by how many “one way” links point to it from other sites. Writing an article and publishing it in the many ezine barns (and having it picked up by online ezines specialized for your keywords) is an excellent way to get these one way links

2. Reciprocal linking.

Find other websites with similar subject matter to your own. Contact the webmaster and arrange to post a link to your site in exchange for reciprocating — posting a link to theirs on your site.

3. One way links.

Do a search on your keyword and “add URL” or “add your site.” You will find sites you can add your link to.

4. Join a forum.

You can get banned by putting a link to your site in your posts, but if you put it in your bio and then post information frequently on the forum, you can go up in Google rankings.

5. Blogging.

Set up your own blogs with links to your sites to gain Google rank Software exists to do this.

6. Search Engine Optimization

Make your site “keyword rich” by including a written introduction with searchable keywords in it, optimize the site and submit it to the minor search engines. Software exists to help you with search engine optimization. Google analyzes rankings in minor search engines when assigning site rank.

7. Advertising with Google Adwords.

Adwords can put your site in front of the customer – on the right side of the search page, not on the left. People read from left to right, and will see the results of their search on the left first. Depending on your bid for the keywords, your ad may appear at the bottom of a stack of Adwords advertisements. Adwords can bring in sales, but costs can get out of hand and ultimately be disastrous.

Work Smart…And Hard

Ninety five percent of all Internet businesses fail. Articles have been written simply stating that this is due to lack of “hard work” on the part of the owner, who thought she was going to have a “turn key” business that would immediately reap “astounding profits”.

While this may be true, there’s an old saying, “Work smart, not hard”. In the case of an Internet business, you are going to have do both. You are going to have to work smart by knowing the most effective means of bringing your store to your customers, and work hard…

By doing it.

I Want to Start a House Washing Business

November 18th, 2008

If you were looking for a business to start of your own perhaps you might consider house washing. In many parts of the country house washing is very popular and many people do it twice per year. In some states where house washing is not done so often, people still clean their manufacture and mobile homes two times per year.

It doesn’t take much to start a house washing business but there are a few items you need to have and a few things you need to know. First you’ll need some soft bristle brushes, a pressure-washer and some garden hose. You’ll also need some plastic sheeting to cover the shrubbery if you use any type of chemical house.

For cleaning mold you may be using just a little bit of bleach in the wash water and you need to keep it off the plants. The easiest way to get house washing customers is to go to a housing tract and try to pick out customers near the corners as your first clientele in the area. Then you need some A-frame signs while you are doing the work so that people will see you and you can hand them your flyer or business card.

The best time to do cleaning is when most people are getting home from work, because that is when the traffic in the neighborhoods is the highest. People coming from work or picking kids up from practice will stop and ask about your services.

You should also ask the customers you clean for for referrals. House washing is not the easiest business in the world and probably not the best business if you are afraid to get wet, but there are a lot of houses to clean. So, perhaps you will consider this in 2006.

Home Based Network Marketing - Building A Millionaire Business

November 18th, 2008

Home based business network marketing is the core of many home based businesses. While you have a product that you offer to your customers, you will make the most income through those you bring into the business and train to do what you do.

Network marketing is a term that scares many people, but this doesn’t need to be the case. Successful home based business network marketing starts with believing in the company you represent. It doesn’t matter what you say to your prospects, if you do not believe in your company, they will know it! But this can be difficult if you are just starting out, because you have not yet developed a success story you can pass on to your prospects.

This does not have to be a problem. Simply find a success story about someone you know in the business that you can share with your prospects while you are developing your business. Then you can incorporate your own success stories as they come.

Today’s home based business network marketing prospects can spot hype a mile away, so don′t use it. If you are tempted to throw industry cliches into your speech, you will lose your prospects. Be open and honest when you communicate with your prospects.

Remember, a prospect that you drag into a business will not be successful, so allow your prospects to make their own decisions. Finally, don’t be afraid to close the sale! This is where most network marketers make the most mistakes. They simply do not ask the prospect if they want to get started on their business. So once you have told your prospect your story, close the sale and bring that prospect into your network marketing business!

There Is No Place Like Home - Home Based Business Wisdom Especially For Women

November 18th, 2008

A radical reshaping of the workforce is underway. Millions of Americans are working at home, either as self-employed entrepreneurs or as company employees working part-time or full time as telecommuters. Customers, vendors, and teams of employees are located across the globe.

This is a story of the countless lessons learned since transitioning from corporate executive to life as a home based solo-entrepreneur.

My Cat ate Monday off my Calendar…and other ‘tales’ about working at home.

Pansy and Lily are constant companions in my office, the third floor of my 125-year-old Victorian home. One weekend, I was checking my calendar to see what the upcoming week had in store, as every one is different. I like the variety. You guessed it. Monday was gone. It’s true, I’m old fashioned, and I still keep a paper calendar. The fact that Pansy or Lily chewed the corner off my calendar and my Monday schedule was missing, is a tale that will evoke more empathy than “my
computer crashed.” The following are five coaching tips for the new or aspiring home based businesswoman.

1. Results. Work is a thing you do – not a place you go. Work is about results not a building. When you are working in a home based business, you are solely responsible for producing results. Success will be easier if you can answer yes to the following four statements: I have the ability to push through even in the presence of fear, uncertainty, doubt, and risk. I seldom procrastinate and have the discipline to complete the projects I begin. I am good at setting clear goals and determining the important priorities. I am dependable and follow through on my commitments to others and myself.

Coaching tip: If these statements do not describe you, build in a source of accountability such as a buddy or a coach.

2. Personality. Working at home can be lonely. There is no water cooler talk; no final four pools; no monthly birthday goodies’ day. For introverts this is a plus. If you are an extrovert, who gets energy from being around people, spending your day alone may be draining. It is important that you design ways to interact with others.

Coaching Tip: You can offset the feelings of isolation by taking breaks to make occasional personal phone calls, scheduling breakfast or lunch networking meetings, a lunchtime trip to yoga, or forming a Mastermind group.

3. Boundaries. Your ability to set appropriate boundaries is essential to your success as a home based entrepreneur. Boundaries are the way we tell others what is and is not an appropriate way to interact with us. Appropriate boundaries include the physical space where you work. If you use a portion of your living space as an office, it is even more challenging than if you have a room designated just for your business.

Coaching Tip: Hang a sign by the door of your workspace that says, “Mom is at Work” or “No Trespassing Woman Working.”

4. Pets, pests, and personal phone calls. There are countless opportunities for interruptions when you work in a home-based office. If you have young children in the home, you are well aware of this. Self-discipline, setting the expectations of others, and saying NO without feeling guilty are skills you must develop.

Coaching Tip: Clear and direct communication with others is required to limit persistent interruptions. Example: “I know how important this charitable cause is and yet I have to say know because my work is very busy right now.” “I only have 2 minutes to talk right now. You can call me this evening with the rest of the story.” ” I am not available to chaperone that field trip. I work on Tuesday afternoon.”

5. Office Hours. You may choose to establish traditional office hours and work a 9:00 to 5:00 schedule. On the other hand, you may choose a flexible work schedule that better suits your lifestyle. Whatever your preference, it is important that you establish a routine of some type in order that your customers, family, friends, know when you are and are not ‘at work,’ and so do you.

Coaching Tip: The more you enjoy your work, the more prone you will be to work creep, allowing work to get in the way of personal life. Avoid stress, burn out, and family conflicts by establishing and adhering to a work routine.

The growth in home based business and telecommuting is driven by advantages for employer, employee, and entrepreneur. It allows workers a better lifestyle, it is green because of reduced expenses associated with commuting and housing employees, it has financial advantages such as reduced costs for child or senior day care, commuting, clothes, and meals, a
perhaps best of all it gives you the independence of being your own boss, priceless.

How Do I Find a Legitimate Home Based Business?

November 18th, 2008

A large number of people would like to work from home. An even larger number of people would like to make more money than they are currently making. What stops people from taking action to move them toward their goals is the fear of the unknown and the fear of being scammed.

Over-hyped Home business opportunities are everywhere on the internet. If you are looking for a way to work from home, it is almost impossible to wade through the mountains of different home based business opportunities. So how do you know what is real and what is a scam? How do you find the right business for you?

Unfortunately, there are a lot of home business scams that have tainted many peoples opinion. However there are also a lot of home based businesses that are legitimate and legal.

The first thing to know is: What are you looking for? If you don’t know what goal you want to achieve, how can you find the right home business opportunity?

Here are a couple of important things to consider when you are looking at opportunities to work form home:

1. Are you looking for a job or do you want your own business?

This is a huge distinction. The biggest difference will be in your initial investment and in your potential income. Just as in the “brick and mortar” business world, the risks and benefits in expense of being an employee and being a business owner are two completely different things.

- Be cautious of any company that asks for money for a work at home job.

- Expect to invest a minimum of $2000 to get a legitimate home business started.

It’s seems common sense, that you shouldn’t expect to pay for a job. It also makes sense that if you are going to start a business, some capital will be required. Yet I talk to people everyday who think that a $35 dollar investment should yield them an immediate 6 figure income. You can make a lot of money working from home and you can even do it fairly quickly, but too many people have unrealistic expectations.

2. Are you motivated to be home with family, or are you looking to make a fortune?

There are home businesses that you can fairly easily and predictably make an extra $1000 or $2000 per month. This will not make you rich, but it is often enough to keep a spouse from working a job. It is also just enough to keep the family living paycheck to paycheck.

- The lower income, more predictable businesses are often providing a service to people.

- The higher income, often more risky businesses are generally sales/product related.

If you are looking for financial freedom, you can do that with a home based business. As with anything in life, the bigger the reward, the higher the risk. Many people who are making big money from home are doing so with direct sales, affiliate marketing and network marketing companies. This is a real opportunity to make a multiple 6 figure income from a home based business, but it is also where 95% of people fail! If you are thinking of going this route, make sure you follow somebody who knows what they are doing and who has achieved the level of success you are looking for. The companies that have been around and have success will have a system for you to follow. It will be up to you to follow the system, which is usually simple in concept, but often difficult for people in reality. This is why the success rate is low. Make sure you are committed to your goals and understand the business system before you get started.

Once you know what result you want out of a home business, then you must do your due diligence on each opportunity you find that can potentially deliver the end result that you are looking for. I have covered that process in more detail in another article.

How To Earn Thousands Of Dollars A Month By Using Your Website?

November 17th, 2008

There are always myths in the internet that someone can earn over millions of dollars a year by just sitting at home and building their websites during the leisure time. And finally those guys found out that they got better paid by building websites than doing their own jobs.

Is this a joke or there is really someone out there can achieve that? I’m not sure about whether someone can earn millions per year but I think earning hundreds or even thousands per month is not that difficult to achieve by just using your leisure time!

First of all, you’ll need a website. But how to earn money? In recent years there are lots of companies launching the affiliates program to attract their target audiences and make sales. What is an affiliate? In short, if you send someone to a website which has an affiliate program, and if that person makes an order, you will get commission on that sale.

How high the commission will be? You may wonder. Different companies have different profit margins from their products and so the commission varies a lot. Usually the commission varies from 2% to 50% per sale.

I should choose the one who provides the highest commission rate? Am I right? No, very usual a very high commission rate would mean that the value of the transactions will be very low. Therefore the commission per sale would be very low. What you’d need to choose is a affiliate program with high commission, but not high commission rate.

Although there are thousands of affiliate programs, not all of them really provide a high commission to the affiliates. asia-product.com/affiliate_affiliate.php” target=”_blank Asia-Product.com, who recently launched the affiliate program, really does provide a high commission to the affiliates. They are offering a very high commission rate, only 5% per sale. However, the revenue of their transaction is high since they are one of the largest wholesale electronics store in Asia and China. For example, a customer referred by an affiliate buys 10 car dvd players each costs $350. Then the affiliate will earn $350 x 10 x 0.05 = $175. If he/she can refer only one such customer a day, he/she will earn $175 x 30 = $5250/month, and there is no upper limit!

Sounds easy, right? Of course, you’ll need to be smart in order to attract traffic to your website. But by joining a few affiliate programs like Asia-Product one, you may become one of the myths in the internet.

Paid Surveys - Learn The Basics

November 17th, 2008

It’s important to learn the basics before you decide to enter the world of paid surveys. That’s what will be discussed in this article.

So what are paid surveys? They are simply this - ‘Paid Surveys conducted by major companies in order to better understand what their market actually wants, which intern will save them money on future productions.’ These companies actually save money by paying people like you and me to complete their surveys. They are able to take all the data from the surveys they conduct and use it to increase revenue substantially.

This is great news for people like you and me because it means that we can actually make money by answering a few simple questions or just by offering our opinions.

How can I find these companies? The best way is to sign up for a survey database as they list most of the companies on their site. They will also rank them from best to worst so you know which ones will be the best to sign up for first. Also it’s important to keep signing in and checking for new companies that may become listed in the database as they are potential goldmines. Why? Because as they are a new site, they will initially have surveys ready for people to complete, so get in fast!

Before you start signing up to take part in Paid Surveys there are 2 things you must do. Firstly set up a new email account that will only be used for your future survey campaigns. Make sure you check it at least twice a day because who knows when you may get an invitation for a survey or focus group. Secondly take a pen and paper and jot down everything about yourself. That means everything! When signing up for surveys, you must submit a few details about yourself relevant to the topics being surveyed for that particular company. If you have a list of everything you have done, your doing or what you like doing, then it will be easier and faster when you start signing up for surveys.

Paid Surveys have been proven to be a successful money making resource on the internet. There’s no risk involved as it is free to sign up. Why not give them a try and I guarantee with a little initial effort, you’ll start reaping the rewards in no time!

What Does It Take To Really Make Money In MLM

November 17th, 2008

For one thing, the basic structure of the MLM opportunity is flawed from the start. That’s right, you are already fighting a losing battle before you ever get the first person signed up in your downline. You see, the primary way of making money in MLM opportunities is that everybody in your downline pays some type of membership fee or subscription service.

That’s great for a little bit, you jump through the normal marketing hoops, get some people excited about the opportunity and start watching those signups. You can almost feel the cool ocean spray on your face as images of you in a hammock sipping a fruity drink dance around in your head like sugar plums in the dreams of children on Christmas Eve.

But before you can even decide between your Scooby Doo or Superman swimming trunks you notice that your downline is dropping out.

What’s going on you wonder as you grudgingly start to unpack your suitcase. Well, the truth is that the people signing up below you didn’t know how to promote the opportunity themselves and while they happily kept slinging money out the window for a little while they grew discouraged and decided that they just didn’t have the knowledge or unlimited funds to keep pursuing it.

So what’s the answer?

I would have to say that a successful MLM opportunity would have to have a couple of components.

One, the structure would have to be so that it is free to join and participate in. For this to happen, another method of payout structure would have to be developed such as a shopping rebate program or something similar to that. This would enable those without online marketing experience to suffer through the learning curve. They could stay members forever and earn substantial commissions without being forced to spend money themselves.

Two, personal communication from the MLM opportunity itself or directly from you. You have to consider that the majority of people who sign up in your downline will not have the knowledge or skills necessary to grow their own downline. Even if the program is free, they will not actively promote it if they are unable to grow their downline and prosper financially.

So, if you have ever found yourself wanting to drop out of a MLM opportunity before because you either didn’t have the knowledge or skills to build your own productive downline or because your own downline kept dropping out, not allowing you to reap the rewards of your hard work, then take a big step now and…

A. Learn how to market your MLM opportunity. Learn everything there is to know about building a dowline like traffic sources, ad copy, lead acquisitions, etc..

B. Put in place a support system to help those in your downline do the same. Imagine if when you first started out, you had a group of people there ready to take you by the hand and say “Do this, now do that”. I would suggest a forum type atmosphere set up for your downline only. The more your downline grows, the more people that will be helping because one of you doesn’t succeed unless you all succeed. Eventually it will be virtually hands free for you as the support forum and your downline continue to expand.

Ok, maybe you’re not quite ready to start picking out shades and big straw hats for that island hopping adventure but you most certainly can do it eventually if you will take the time to cultivate your downline. Meanwhile, you can go ahead and put on whichever swim trucks you opted for and find a nice shady spot in the yard and think about what you can do to start securing your financial freedom.

Fallacies Regarding Online Home Based Businesses

November 16th, 2008

In the course of my home business coaching activities, I have
often found that people head into the startup of their online
home based businesses with a wildly unrealistic mindset.

Many have been told that they can sign up for a few programs,
build a website around them, add a bunch of banners and links
onto their site, then sit back and watch the money roll in and
never have to work again.

There is a misconception that you can come online and set up an
Internet based business and be making big money within a few
days. This is absolute hogwash and it has not been my experience
nor the experience of anyone I have come in contact with through
my online business activities.

The harsh reality is that there are more people who fail at their
home businesses than there are people who actually succeed.

Newcomers to the world of online home based business are not
usually aware that they may actually have to work harder at their
home businesses than they did at their traditional jobs. They are
typically not aware of the many hours of marketing time that they
will need to put in to be successful.

Many people that are new to online marketing also make the
mistake of thinking that a single marketing strategy will
suffice. Naturally, some avenues will produce better results
than others, but I have found the best course of action is to
adopt a broad based approach to your online marketing by
spreading your time and resources over several different methods.

If you are new to Internet marketing, you might be well advised
to take a course to find out what is required of you to be
successful in an online business. It does not matter what type of
business you are starting, if it is online, it must be marketed
online, and possibly offline as well.

It always amazes me how frequently people that start an online
home based business actually believe that they can get rich by
doing absolutely nothing, or at least with very little effort.
These are otherwise intelligent people. Why would they believe
this? My conclusion is that they believe because they want to
believe. They believe because they see claims to this effect
everyday and everywhere on the Internet. They are told that it is
possible. They not only want to believe it, for their own
reasons, but they need to believe it.

In my opinion, you need to give yourself at least a year to make
an online business get some traction and start to generate some
meaningful income. The proper mindset is to think long term,
not instant gratification.

I am always surprised at the number of people who drop out of
their online home based business after the first month or two.
I ask myself, what do they expect, miracles? You probably
wouldn’t bail out of offline business after a month so why would
you expect an online business to be any different?

Aside from the fallacy of instant riches without any effort,
the expectation of a free ride is a frequent misconception of
many that think they want to start an online home based business.
If you’re afraid, or unwilling, to invest a little money to start
your own business…you are not looking at a home based
business…you are looking at a work at home job. If you want to
make money online, you must also be willing to invest in
yourself. It’s as plain and simple as that.
