More than anything else, I know, the mere act of listening will draw people to you like a magnet. Remove your ego and the necessity to randomly talk about you and your solutions in your conversations, and you will achieve more than you can ever imagine.

Do we listen to people? Based on my experience, we don’t. And we appear to listen least to those we are closest to, and understand them the least as well! And here is the other side of this coin. They don’t listen to us either! That might explain many of the difficulties you encounter both in your personal life and as you go about building your Network Marketing and MLM business.

This is how we normally listen. For 45% of the time we are supposed to be listening, we are working out what we’re going to say next. Another 45% of the time is spent waiting for a gap in the conversation so we can say it. That leaves only 10% of the time listening.

So, are we listening when we spend only 10 % of the time doing it? No! We can’t be. So, how much of the time should we spend listening? 100%! (When I ask this question, most of the responses I get are from 60% to 95%. The reason being, of course, is that people think they need to reserve some space to think about what they will say or ask next.)

Hearing and listening 100% requires you to do something that is alien for most Network Marketers and MLM Distributors, because they are never taught it. It requires you to let go of your need to clutter your mind with needless thoughts of working out what to say next, and to let the inner self take over. It requires you to listen and tap into to the essence of the other person. It requires you to listen to the other 90% that you normally miss, because that’s where the real information is and how the relationship with the other person is cemented.

So how do you listen 100% of the time? Here are a few clues: First, you have the ability to think 10 times faster than anyone can talk. If you know something about your Network Marketing business opportunity or products, and you listen to what is behind the problems revealed to you, you will automatically connect what they want with the correct features of your solution. Later, you can use those features to solve the problems you have heard. It’s like having the features of your Network Marketing business opportunity stored in lots of spring-loaded drawers in the back of your mind, like the compact disc drawer on your computer. The right drawers with the right features will automatically pop out to solve the specific problems you hear. If, you hear them!

Your Questions Come From The Answers

Another clue about being able to listen 100% is that what you’re going to say next is in the answers you get to your previous questions! It’s all there! It’s just that you must listen to the answers. Most Network Marketers and MLM Distributors listen selectively – listening for the things they want to hear – if they listen at all.
They listen with the intent to reply, not with the intent to understand the facts and feelings of where someone is coming from. Real listening requires letting go and concentrating on everything the other person says and doesn’t say. If you think about it, it makes sense. People know the history of their life, and if you are to have any success in understanding whether you can help them, doesn’t it make sense to enlist their help by asking about it first, then listening and finally speaking?

A third clue is to stop re-interpreting what people say to you, based on your own life’s experiences, judgments, prejudices and thoughts. For example, have you ever had someone respond to a remark you made and his or her response had no bearing on what you were talking about or what you were meaning? How did you feel about that? – Annoyed, unheard, invalidated, or some other feeling? What wasn’t this person doing? They weren’t listening! Do you probably do the same thing to others? When promoting your Network Marketing and MLM business, misunderstandings of this sort are expensive – expensive in terms of money and time and, more importantly, in terms of relationships.

A classic story illustrates how we think we know what someone means when in fact we don’t. A lady was talking with a friend of hers, and she was relating how her husband had left her the week before and she hadn’t heard from him since. She had no idea where he was. Her friend replied, “Oh! I’m sorry to hear that, it must be awful for you!” “On the contrary,” was the response, “I’ve been wondering how to get rid of him for ages!”

You see how our own thoughts can misinterpret someone’s words and what they are meaning. If, in the above case, the friend had got behind the statement and asked, “How do you feel about that?” or, “Tell me what happened,” she would have had a clearer understanding of her feelings about the matter and would not have stepped into the minefield of miscommunication.

Changing Your Listening Habits

One of the challenges about effective listening is that (1) we’re not sure how to listen, (2) what to listen for, or (3) even know how to respond to what someone says. From an early stage in our lives, what are we taught the most to get on in life – how to listen or how to express ourselves? Mostly, how to express ourselves!

The truth is, the real art of communication is in the listening! Listening is a gift you can give anyone and it doesn’t cost you a penny. Not only that, what you get in return is infinite. Deepak Chopra’s book, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, states that, “The act of listening is one way to manifest the second law which is the Law of Giving.” Interestingly, in my experience, this one action of listening will trigger all the other laws of success, turning them from a metaphysical reality into practical abundant reality.

So, take the time to review your listening skills. Next time you′re speaking with someone, observe whether you′re really listening or whether you′re just waiting for the chance to have your say! Then make a deliberate effort to really listen and experience for yourself the difference it makes. You′ll also notice the difference in the concrete results you get as you build your Network Marketing and MLM business.

The dot com bust of a few years ago is over and people all over the world are basing their income on running an internet business from home. One way to do that is to create a residual income by selling products that pay you over and over for making one sale.

The power of this is some day you will make money even when you do no work. Insurance salesmen have been doing this for years. So have network marketers except they get paid on the efforts of many people and not just themselves.

Membership products make great residual income products because as long as people are a paid member you are making money. Private Label Rights programs would be an example of this. You join a PLR program that pays a 50% commission to it’s members to recruit new members.

The cost is $99 a month, so you would earn $49.95 on the first sale and $49.95 every month thereafter as long as the member is active. In this example you would need around 100 sales to be earning $5k a month.

Residual income programs are very possible to do from home. This type of home business really only requires a computer and internet connection. Maybe a phone or fax machine.

You spend all of your time selling to new customers while getting paid over and over for your old ones. How does that sound? It sounds pretty good to me because I like getting paid over and over for doing my work one time.

So where do you find private label rights programs to sell. You can start by Google searching the words “private label rights″ or plr affiliate programs or any variation of these. It is a good idea to be a paying member yourself and some programs may require it before they will let you earn money on your own sales.

Private label rights are just one example of a home business you could run online to make money. Any type of residual income program could be good because you are shooting for that walkaway income and this is a way to do.

To cash in from the marketing advantages of the Internet you must first provide a product. There is an exsisting theory in marketing on on existing pattern people buy products.

Significantly, product must be something that people want not what they need. If you offer only what people need you may not get a strong demand for your product. It is a fact that people buy based on emotions. People have to justify their decisions to buy after making a purchase from an emotional standpoint.

To put it another way, people will always make a decision based on emotion and justify it logically. The product must be able to grab the interest, desire and inspiration of your potential customers. Interest, desire and inspiration will trigger the emotions, which will create a ”want” of a product. This is a key concept if you want to have a successful product online.

Some people will be at a loss in finding a product. A good program for a beginner is to join an affiliate partnership. An affiliate program allows anyone who has a website to sell and promote a product in exchange for a commission. Affiliate merchants pays between five percent (5%) to seventy five percent(75%) commission. The job of an affiliate is pretty easy. There are no products to develop, carry or ship and no orders to process and refund. All the hard work is handled directly by the affiliate company. These stalls also are a good place to see if the potential product will actually sell and can be sustained by the market. The workplace is also a good place to find opportunities. There are a lot of corporations looking for Christmas giveaways. Because of budget constraints, corporations always look value for money. Since people may be too busy to go and shop, one can avail of the informal market place tucked under the desk of the enterprising employees. This mode can be a promising outlet for the potential product. Staff also organize exchange gift programs and create the need for daily or weekly gift-giving that leads up to the annual office Christmas party.

On the other hand, executives are looking for presents for their staff, their peers, and boss. On the other, rank and file look for gifts for their bosses. Indeed more opportunities in November and December, that one will ever get in the other ten months of the year given the general propensity to spend at this time. If your product cannot sell in the next 45 days. It will certainly be more difficult to do so later.

Choose meals and snacks that are kind to the body, i.e. naturally-produced and chemical free. Fresh (preferably seasonal) fruit, vegetables and salads retain their nutritional content - they are ‘living’ foods. Avoid foods that have been over-processed, stored for too long or stored in contact with metal or cling-film. You could class these as ‘dead’ foods, with little to offer nutritionally. Variety is also vital, helping you obtain the broad range of nutrients your body needs.

Less is more

Eating large meals puts a great strain on the digestive tract. Choose smaller, more frequent meals, which help keep your fuel tank topped-up throughout the day. And never forget that the more you eat, the more your body has to either burn off or store as fat. So eat to live - don’t live to eat!

Give your stomach a fair chance

Slow down and enjoy your food. Chewing is essential - you have teeth for a reason - to assist the digestive process. Eating food quickly, or while stressed, disrupts digestion and the absorption of nutrients. The ‘how’ and when’ of eating is just as important as ‘what′ you eat.

Life-giving water

Nature’s nectar. Your body is 70% water and it needs to be daily replenished with a fresh supply to ensure that body cells are hydrated and energized. Ideally, we need to consume two litres of water every day.

Get active!

You need just enough activity to keep all your moving parts in good working order, lean and strong. Too much exercise uses up resources needed for normal growth, repair and maintenance, and creates premature wear and tear on the joints and ligaments.

So how much exercise are we talking about?

Enjoy a good brisk walk in the fresh air everyday - or even every second day - swing your arms, hold your head high, fill your lungs and lengthen your strike. Or, consider purchasing a home fitness video. There are plenty to choose from, just make sure it incorporates a good stretching regime to avoid pulling or straining any muscles. The same applies to any team sports or gym work - warm-up first. The message is, yes, you need to use your body to prevent it from ‘getting rusty′.

Relax!

Proper ‘quality time’ should not be confused with time spent watching endless television, or playing games on the computer. Energetic computer games and emotionally-charged TV soaps activate the release of ‘fight-or-flight′ stress chemicals - hardly a form of relaxation. Switch the TV off and take time-out once or twice a day for between 15-30 minute to rest your thoughts, and your body, completely. Sit or lie comfortably, close your eyes, breathe deeply and slowly, perhaps listen to restful music, and drift into your mind’s theatre of beautiful landscapes and memories. No interruptions, no demanding family or friends, just you and your attention focused on health, happiness and abundance…that’s quality time!

Sleep

We all need 6-8 hours quality sleep every night. Get to bed before midnight and start the day early and alert after a restful, refreshing sleep.

Love makes everything workable

For complete harmony of mind, body and spirit, the final ingredient needed is a huge helping of love. Surround yourself with people you love and who love you!

Don’t be afraid to take a small loss to gain a new customer or to reward stable customers for helping you market your lawn care business. You are going to beat the competition more often and gain more long-term clients this way.

Lawn care marketing relies heavily on word-of-mouth advertising. So be mindful of this when servicing your current clients. Going out of your way and going the extra mile on the job will net you plenty of referrals. Neighbors talk. You want your customers saying nice things about you and your work so you can grab the extra business your customers are more than happy to set you up with if they like your work.

Forget for a second that you’re in network marketing. What if you were starting any other kind of business like a retail store, a salon, or a construction company. Where would you get your customers? Your employees? How about business partners? Where would you find them?

Rule #1 - Hold your tongue. Don’t ever insult someone for his or her decision not to participate with you in your business. Don’t tell someone they’re stupid for not doing business with you, even if it is the way you “talk to your brother.” It’s unprofessional and out of place.

Rule #2 - Be wise. “No” rarely means no. That same brother in three weeks or three years could lose his job. If you’ve made a fool out of yourself, not only will he not do the business, he will beat you to all of your friends and tell them about the “scam” you’re in. All of this because “you told him” how stupid he was. That’s not wise.

Rule #3 - Deal with it. For 10 years I′ve dealt with objections, concerns, past failures, bad experiences, etc., which have all taught me how to successfully handle these issues.

Just as an experienced dentist knows that treating teeth is the easy part and the hard part is dealing with the patient’s “baggage”… like the time the other dentist stuck a six-foot needle in their gum when they were 14 years old.

“Dealing” with these issues is what “wins” the patient. Once the trust is established you’ve got them for life or until you decide to stop servicing their needs.

Rule #4 - Yes or No. Some prospects just take one conversation to be won and some prospects take 10 conversations. (Nine of those conversations resulted in a “No” answer even though “No” was never stated.) If you take the thought process as being that either the prospect says “Yes” or “No,” then you’ll miss the art of communication and networking.

Suppose your company has 20 products. If your prospect says “No,” find out what they are saying “No” to.

Are they saying “No” to all 20 products? Are they saying “No” to “I don′t want to diversify my income?” No to “I don′t know anyone who needs or wants any of your 20 products?”

That’s a lot to say “No” to! I recommend that you find out exactly what your prospects are truly saying “No” to.

Rule #5 - Don’t be a bug. Do not ever “bug” family and friends about your MLM business. Sometimes Networkers get extremely focused, which is good, and it should never be suppressed. Focus is what creates “eliteness.” Just be disciplined as to what and who deserves that focus. If it’s a friend or family member who clearly isn’t interested, quit wasting time there and go get in front of people who do want to be a part of your MLM business or a product consumer.
