I’m not sure how to explain this other than to say that the term “home based business″ doesn’t mean anything. You′ve got to get the idea of having a “home based business″ out of your head if you actually want to make some money. The problem is that when you research home based business 99% of what you find are weasels trying to take your money. I’m telling you this subject is full of more crooks than Shaw shank Prison!

This information is coming to you from a person who currently runs a successful business out of his home, but this didn’t come to be by following some weasels system or by reading some e-book. My business came to be because I did one very simple thing that I believe anyone can do and very few people will be truthful about. That one simple thing was me following my passion. We all have something that we feel passionate about. Skiing, sewing, running, reading, children, dogs, baseball, insects, hell it makes no difference what the subject is. What’s important is that you feel passionately about it.

You see, if you feel passionately about the subject, then the work that’s necessary to make a successful business won’t seem like work. You’ll realize what Mark Twain was referring to when he said, “make a vacation out of your vocation and you’ll never work a day in your life.” The key to having a business, whether that business be run out of your home or an office, is that it revolve around your passion. Have your business revolve around that which you are passionate about and you’ve got a fighting chance.

Just make sure that you get this idea of a home based business out of your head. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter where the business is conducted. The point is that you find a way to bring value to the marketplace. And for God’s sake, watch out for the weasels, because all they want is to take your money.

Every add you see on the television or internet claiming that thousands of dollars can be made “working from home”, are complete pieces of crap, simply trying to separate you from your money. If something like this were true, why wouldn’t everyone and their brother be doing it? My point is that if it were this simple and easy, everyone and their brother would be doing it! These people are complete weasels who prey on people who are looking for that magic genie mentioned earlier, which obviously doesn’t exist.

The bottom line is that if you want to make money and make that money working from home, good for you, just don’t buy into all of the crap. The only way that you can be successful is by following your passion. If you follow your passion, the money will follow. We all tend to think about money and making money backwards. That is, give me the money, then I’ll do this or that. That’s not how making money works. Follow your passion and the money will follow. Do you think Tiger Woods plays golf for the money? Sally has been involved in network marketing for 5 years now. She truly desires to create a six-figure income. Over the years, she has purchased every ebook and training material available for her to build a successful and profitable home business.

She gets on every company conference call and talks with her sponsor often. She stays up late at night reading her training material on how to promote her business. She places a few ads here and there and submits her website to the search engines.

“What am I doing wrong?”, she asks. “Why am I still not making any money?”

Think about it for a moment, how could we think ‘negatively’ and come across as positive, successful people to our prospects? Complaining reinforces a sense of insecurity within us about our abilities and being successful with our businesses.

It’s not a coincidence that Sally started slacking off on her business. She started making excuses for not being on the conference calls and started dedicating less and less time to promoting her business. All of a sudden, she never seemed to have enough ‘time′. The diapers needed to be changed, the kids had to be taken to the soccer game, the laundry had to be done, the house had to be cleaned, the groceries had to be made etc…

So how do we fight against these internal sabotagers so that we are not teaming up with them in the destruction of our dreams?

First, become aware of how you entertain complaining, negative talk, procrastination, excuses, insecurities and other like minded ‘friends’.

Second, when one of the sabotagers rears it’s ugly head, fight against him by speaking something positive about your success. Ex. ‘I’ll never make money’, you can say, ‘I am successful and I am producing more money than I will ever need′. Words contain energy, so why not infuse energy into words?

Third, no matter what, continue to speak positively about your success and you’ll find that your actions will follow. You’ve heard the old saying, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he”, hmmmm, think he knew what he was talking about?

Fourth, be patient with the process. It will happen if you believe it will.

Fifth continue learning and building your business and pretty soon, you’ll be rewarded with the six-figure income (or more) that you were working for.

We spend so much time running away from our dreams that we never get to taste the sweetness of success. If we could just hold still enough throughout the ‘dry’ times and continue believing in our success, we can then reap the rewards of our hard work.

The same principle applies to everything else in our lives. How many times have we complained that we’re not losing the belly fat? Or about not having any quality relationships?

If you stop for a moment and really analyze your ‘failures’, you will find that it started with a little complaining here and there that gave way to some insecurities about your ability to succeed and surely enough, you started inviting the other ‘friends’ to sabotage your efforts.

I came across the below story and I could not help but think but to share this with everyone. You might find this story quite interesting. It is adapted from an audio segment by Robert Kiyosaki, best selling author of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and allows us to ponder whether a home based business is right for us as an individual. Home based businesses are not for everyone.

A Spring Runs Dry

The story is told of a spring that ran dry in a small mountain village. The leaders gathered to determine how they would supply the village with clean water. There was another spring and reservoir about a mile away but was too far for the villagers to travel.

One of the men volunteered to solve the problem by carrying water into the village himself each morning for a set fee. Since the need for water was clear, the leaders agreed to the offer and determined a fair price for each bucket of water delivered.

Early the next morning the “bucket carrier” arose and began transporting water. It was hard work but he was pleased with the immediate pay for his efforts. He awoke each day and hurriedly carried water. The more he delivered, the higher the pay.

As time went on, he began to think there had to be a better way. So, he designed buckets that could hold more water and were easier to carry. He bought better shoes and discovered a quicker route between the reservoir and the village.

The problem was, despite all his improvements, the bucket carrier still had to get up each day to carry water.

A Better Solution?

Some time later, another villager came forward with an offer to supply water. He planned to build a pipeline from the reservoir to the village.

The leaders were skeptical but eventually agreed to the competing plan, especially since the new proposal would cost the villagers less for the same amount of water. So, while the bucket carrier continued his daily routine, the second man began work on the pipeline.

The digging was tedious through the treacherous mountain terrain. The necessary tools and materials proved costly but he continued his work diligently for many months.

Finally, the “pipeline builder” installed the last piece of pipe and ceremoniously opened the valve while a crowd gathered. Everyone cheered as they watched clean water flow into the village cistern.

How Things Changed!

The following day the two men’s worlds changed dramatically.

The bucket carrier had to lower his prices significantly to temain competitive. He worked harder and yet found himself worrying about losing his job.

The pipeline builder, however, began enjoying the fruit of his labor. He stopped working long days and began enjoying the income his venture generated. He found the pipeline required minimal maintenance, so he was free to spend his days fishing the mountain streams and enjoying time with his kids.

Years Later

Many years later, after both men had died, the pipeline was still an integral part of village life and the pipeline builder’s children continued to enjoy the benefits of a father’s entrepreneurial spirit.

Consider building a pipeline…

It doesn’t matter how efficient you are at “carrying water” (your job). Nor does it matter the size of your paycheck. Going to work tomorrow, next week and ten years from now will still be the prerequisite to collecting a paycheck….only a paycheck.

How often do we dream of having our own business? How often do we day dream about doing this and doing that if we had our own business?

We would start imagining how we would treat our employees, our customers, our partners. How we would do it different than what we are seeing at the workplace of our day job.

After all those positive thoughts our minds start drifting to the negative side. Why can’t we have our own business? Then the answer would always roam around not having the money for it. We would think about the risks of losing the security provided by of our day job. What if that business ate up all our savings? What will happen to children, the mortgage, the car loan…etc?
Then a light flashes at the end of the tunnel. Our mind becomes creative and thinks about starting something small, something that we can do after work. May be we can start something at home.

Now we get excited. We roll our sleeves and we start to research for ideas. After a couple of months of research we get brain washed about how easy it should be to make a “SIX FIGURE INCOME IN FEW WEEKS.” It is funny how our brains forgets that most those ideas that we went through are not true ideas, but we get stuck with the idea that a home business should make us RICH..RICH..RICH in no time.

After finding the idea that seems to suit our needs and looks workable we take out our credit card, pay the fee and start calling our friends and family and tell them the exciting news. We think this might also be a clever and indirect way to encourage them to join the business.

The following day we go to work. Of course there is no way we can be productive during the day as we are waiting impatiently to go home and start selling.

We go home, switch on the PC/Laptop put our credit card on the table and start searching for ways to advertise on the net. Although planning is at the heart of any business but we will not get into it here. We go to sleep happy and proud that night while imagining the flowing money that must be coming in while we are sleeping. We wake up very early to check what happened. We realize that no sales were made. We think its OK, it’s the first day anyway. “We have to be realistic,” our mind tells us. “Nothing can happen in one night.” We go to work, we make sure nobody is watching and we take out the piece of paper we had the site written on and we keep checking if any sales are happening. Nothing yet.
But the program that we are in is advanced and provides traffic stats, so we click on the stats link and realize that we had three clicks since last night. “That is good. This is not bad at all,” we say.

But tonight our friends are coming over, so we cannot work. Tomorrow we promised some other friends that we will go out for dinner. Our partner says that we have to go to the movies. We will realize that each night we have some other priority that we have to attend to and that business can wait for tomorrow night.
At the end of the third week we would realize that the business is not working and this whole idea of home business is not worth it and it does not deliver what it promises, “SIX FIGURE INCOME IN FEW DAYS.”

Now look what we have done:

1) Invested a small amount of money to start a home business.

2) Invested some more for advertising.

3) Since it is automated then it should do all the work for us while we go and have fun.

Let us remember what our dream was:

1) Have our own business.

2) Spend time with our customers, employees and partners and treat the best way possible

3) Basically our business will become our first priority as it is after all our dream.

What happened?

We said it before, we got brainwashed by the bad ideas. We remembered that they were bad ideas, but we did not forget their promise. “SIX FIGURE INCOME IN FEW MINUTES.”

What should we do? We should remember the following:

1) A business is a business regardless of the amount of money you invest. Therefore, you must feel lucky that you found an idea with a small investment.

2) A small investment opportunity should not give you the excuse to ignore it. Imagine if you have borrowed a large sum of money to run an offline business, would you still go to that dinner, that movie or that game?

3) An Automated system does not mean it will do all the work on its own. You have to spend time working the system. Remember it is part time not FREE TIME.

4) A home business or an online business does not mean “SIX FIGURE INCOME IN FEW SECONDS.” It is a business like any other that needs time to grow.

5) You are not an employee anymore, you are the owner, so don’t waste time. Remember if the owner caught you wasting time you will be fired. Now you are the owner, you might not get fired, but you WILL lose the business.
