Home Business Work at Home - Buying and Selling Domain Names

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

A little known Internet business that can potentially earn you hundreds of thousands of dollars happens to be something not many people have heard of. This is the business of domain name selling.

The domain name of Diamond.com allegedly sold for $7.5 million. The buyers of Vodka.com disclosed their price at $3 million. Now do not get too excited; domain names that sell for this amount of money are few and far between. It all depends on timing, which next big company wants to buy it, and just how much they are willing to pay for it.

There are a lot of factors you have to consider when deciding whether or not jumping into the huge domain name pool is the best business for you or not. Just like any business, buying and selling domains has its risks as well as its benefits. And you cannot go into the business blind. Many people start up quickly, get overly excited, buy a number of domain names that no one else wants, and find themselves out of the money they spent and now the owners of domain names they do not know what to do with. There are some basic points you need to be aware of when it comes to the domain name business.

1.) Research. Aside from the basics, knowing a lot of specific domain name terms and details will aide you during your early days. “Domainers” is typically the term used for domain buyers and sellers. Traffic means the amount of visitors a domain or website receives and can be type-in, expired, or some other type. Look into domain name appraisal so you can have some idea how much your domains are worth once you obtain them. There are a lot of specifics to acquaint yourself with – and if you do not already know what a domain name is, you may want to find out.

2.) Money. First and foremost, you will need a startup budget in order to buy domain names. Obtaining a domain can be fairly simple or quite a struggle depending upon which domain name you want to buy. You can either create entirely new domains, buy old ones that are no longer in use, or buy domains owned by other people. Each domain will have a price, some higher than others. Knowing what you plan to spend can make a big difference when deciding what domains to buy.

3.) Picking the right names. There are plenty of good domain names out there – and there are also plenty of completely useless ones. Some domain names are generic, that is, they encompass a large buyer base. Diamond.com and Vodka.com are good examples of generic domains. The trick is trying to find the domains that are money-makers. There are a lot of tips you can use when picking your way through the domain name orchard. Prefixes, suffixes, acronyms, typo domains, and niche markets are just a few worth mentioning. Do your research; promptly buying up a domain name of Ladies89482.com will not get you anything. You are going to want to know why.

4.) Know what to do with them. Once you buy domain names, you cannot just sit back and expect things to happen. There are various things you can do with your new domains to get them sold or make yourself some extra cash. You can park your domains with specific sites that will then place ads on the page people see when they visit your domain. If they click these ads, you get money. Many of these domain parking websites also offer selling services. Think in terms of eBay only specifically for domain names and regulated much better. The key items to remember for your domains are that they need to build traffic and Internet presence in order to get more notice from potential buyers.

5.) Reinvest. After you have made a certain percentage of profit (depends upon what you want that percentage to be; everyone’s portfolio is different), buy more domain names in order to keep your new business growing and earning you money. Like any business with products, the domain names are your products, so once you run out of them, you will not be making any more money. With the profit you make, you may be able to expand and buy more domains than before. Some people have done domain name selling for so long, websites that offer domain registration like GoDaddy.com also offer bulk registration; 50 domain names minimum.

Most people who start out selling domains may only make $10 on their first crop of names, but as you continue to work at the trade, understand the market, and enhance your skills, the right domains can easily work their way into the $10,000 or even $1,000,000 range. Remaining steadfast and dedicated are the keys to succeeding, and with millions of domain names on the Internet ripe for the picking, there is no reason for you to loose out on a piece of the pie.

Pyramid Schemes and MLM

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

Pyramid schemes are illegal businesses that con people out of money by promising them financial success. The organizers of pyramid schemes will usually try to pass off their business as a legitimate multi-level marketing (MLM) business. However, despite some similarities between pyramid schemes and MLM businesses, there are crucial differences.

In a pyramid scheme, a member must pay a fee for joining the business. Then, that member must recruit more members, who will also have to pay a fee. Pyramid schemes received their name because the business develops as a pyramid structure, with the original member on top, the people recruited by the original member on the second level, those people’s recruits on the third level, and so on. Members receive money from the fees of the people on the levels below them.

The problem with pyramid schemes is that eventually, they will run out of potential recruits. When this happens, the most recent members will not be able to make back the money that they paid in fees. For every successful member, there has to be a number of unsuccessful members who lose rather than make money. Therefore, pyramid schemes are considered fraud.

Despite the fact that pyramid schemes are illegal and destined to fail, people continue to join them for two reasons. First of all, the promised riches are extremely tempting, and people know that such riches are possible, even if they are unlikely. In this sense, joining a pyramid scheme is a lot like gambling, another popular past time. Secondly, the organizers of pyramid schemes try to disguise their business as a legal MLM business.

MLM businesses take on the same pyramid structure as pyramid schemes. However, MLM businesses actually sell a product. This is a very important difference. Because MLM members are selling a product, they have a source of continuous profits and a way to maintain the business. As a result, MLM businesses are not destined for failure. Additionally, MLM members need to spend a lot of time recruiting and training new sellers; success is not immediate and does take hard work, just as success in any honest business venture does.

Individuals who are considering joining a MLM business should research it thoroughly to make sure it is legitimate. People should also be wary of organizations that promise instant money with little effort; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Home Business Ideas & Opportunities

Friday, March 28th, 2008

The idea of having another form of income surely gets us all excited and ultimately is the main reason we decide to start a home business. But this is no easy task, and it can take 12 months or more to get a home venture up and running. The most challenging aspect you will have to face is the juggling between your day job and the running of your home business, and you will have to make some serious effort in order to run your business at night time, but in the long run you will find out that it was all well worth it.

All home based businesses need some kind of investment to set up, but not all are costly to start up. Therefore, an important factor you need to establish is the amount of money or investment you are willing to put into it. A good starting point is to determine what fields you’re most interested in what your strengths are in these fields. A lot of the small businesses can be done online with a small investment for domain and hosting services. However, bigger businesses, the ones that offer services and lots of products can cost a lot more to start up. Regardless for which business you decide to go, you will have to find out what you can provide and what people need in order to have the right balance. And while jotting down all the ideas that appeal to you for your home business, try asking yourself the following questions.

• Who will be the potential customer?
• What will the satisfaction expectancy of my customers be upon purchase?
• Will I be able to drive them to come back and buy again?
• Do I know my competitors?
• Are my prices more attractive than those of my competitors?
• What am I willing to charge to remain competitive?

Once you decide on your product or service you will need to know your competitors inside out. Only then, you will be able to develop a niche market for yourself. Also try to identify any over saturated markets and do not get involved in these, as you will not have any or little business, and therefore you will not make any profits. Find a market which is popular and needed, which is of interest to you, and which does not require endless effort.

A good way to make money is to become an affiliate with several programs where you can immediately get your sites up and running. The truth is, every company is the best, for certain individuals, but we can’t all be in the same business, because each of us has his own preferences, goals and dreams. We need all these great companies, and they need individuals that are passionate about their products and services. When you find the company that suits you best and become a representative, you don’t have to plea or beg anyone to join you or buy your products. In fact, doing so is a big turn-off to your potential customers. Most of us don’t realize we’re being pushy, when we don’t intend to be. Very often, our excitement gets the best of us and we go overboard trying to convince others that what we have to offer is the best.

But if you are looking to build a serious business from scratch, you might consider buying a franchise or you can also buy an internet business which is already established. As I mentioned earlier, starting a home business from scratch, will enable you to control your investment and stay on the cheap side, but it will definitely take you months if not years to penetrate the market and establish yourself. On the other hand, buying a franchise or an established business, will cost you a lot more but will generate income immediately.

Once your homework is done, you should be able to have a clear vision of the business and the costs, and therefore you should be able to finally make a decision. Once you have decided, the real work is about to begin because it takes more than a bunch of ideas to make money online. In my opinion the recipe for success is Time Effort Dedication Promotion = PROFITS. In a few words, your main task is to dedicate most of your time and exercise lots of effort in promoting what you offer, in order to make sales which translate in profit. As this might result in very long days of work and you do not have the time for it because you already have a job, you may want to consider hiring professionals to do the work for you. But why would you work with someone else if you just went through hell to set up your own business? So if you really want to succeed and accomplish your goals, you will have to get a system going for yourself, and if you are willing to go that extra mile you will most surely succeed.

Is Life Getting In the Way of Your Home-Based Business? 5 Steps to Take Today to Keep You on Track

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Working from home provides the ultimate experience of freedom in many ways, but at the same time it can easily allow a freedom we take for granted - a freedom that if not appreciated, can actually sabotage our success.

In the corporate world we have structures, deadlines, rules and bosses to keep things in order and on track. These are often the elements entrepreneurs want to escape from when they start a home-based business.

Although these fundamentals have their place in the corporate world and can be viewed by entrepreneurial spirits as restrictive, provoking and unnecessary – they play a significant role in assuring a successful home business environment as well.

As a government employee for 12 years, I often felt smothered and restricted by the regimental practices that guided daily work life. When I left my position to run my home-based business it felt as though 200 pounds had been lifted from my shoulders.

I was finally free to do what I loved, how I chose, when I chose.

Structure and good time management have always been a part of my personal repertoire, but were put to the ultimate test when I started working from home full-time.

When I was an employee, I spent my evenings and weekends pursuing accreditation in Life Strategy and Business Coaching, and building my business. There was no room for distraction or activities that would take me away from my dream.

Structure was rigid and discipline was strong.

Once my formal education was complete and I was financially secure enough to leave my government position, it seemed only natural that maintaining the same level of structure and discipline would continue.

This was not the case.

It didn’t take long for more relaxed, carefree thinking to dominate my actions and behaviors. I would schedule personal appointments in the middle of the day that would interrupt my work for extended periods of time

I’d accept invitations to impromptu lunch and shopping dates. I assured myself I’d make up the time by working in the evening, but by then my energy levels were often in low supply and I was ineffective.

I would leave my office door open and allow household distractions into my workspace. When my personal phone line would ring, I’d pick it up only to be sidetracked by a telemarketer. I also chose to present my family with home-cooked dinners every night, which took hours away from my business.

In only a matter of weeks, I could see the impact lack of formal structure was having on my business. I was lured by life’s daily distractions and it was becoming apparent in my productivity levels and my business’ bottom line.

I had allowed my focus to blur, my energy to wane, and business to take a back seat. I didn’t feel productive. I would scramble to meet deadlines for article submissions and was fully aware of the long-term result I would create if I continued this way.

It was amazing to discover how easy it was for me, someone who has always been so structured and organized, to fall into complacency so quickly once the responsibility fell entirely on my shoulders.

In order to stop the defeating behavior and break the carefree cycle, I re-instituted rules and processes immediately. I returned to “flow” and became productive again.

I survived the “bump” and thankfully with little setback.

I′m all too aware how easy it is to let daily life blend with home business life and that’s actually a part of the attraction of becoming a home-based business owner.

The important thing to remember is there is an immense need for structure, routine and processes; otherwise you may easily become caught up in the demands of daily living without realizing it until it’s too late.

Here are 5 simple steps to get started:

1. Keep your workspace door closed at all times, or even better, completely separate from the family living space.

2. Designate specific hours of operation and make sure your friends and family understand that you are not to be disturbed during these times.

3. Silence the ringer of your private phone line in your office or workspace, or better yet, don′t have a personal line in this area at all. Let your machine collect your calls and return them at a time that suits you.

4. If you need to make personal appointments, schedule them for the same day instead of intermittently throughout the week. This will allow for several days of uninterrupted business operation.

5. Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Maybe you don’t have to get up at 6 a.m. any more for your one-hour commute, but it’s still important to go to bed at a reasonable time to ensure sufficient sleep. Irregular sleep patterns will have a negative effect on your productivity, creativity and enthusiasm.

Remember that running a home-based business is no different than running any other type of business. Structure is necessary. Discipline is compulsory - and processes are required.

Keep these important elements in mind. Incorporate them into your daily business activities and your home and business life will reap the rewards.

Are You Aware Of The Home Business Investment Needed?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Starting a home business is an exciting feat in many people’s lives. You’re finally working for yourself and have plans to make a large income through the expense of your own home. However, without doing the necessary home business research, you may be setting yourself up for failure. The investment facet of the process often gets overlooked in the beginning phases, but it can play out to be the most vital part of the process.

Obviously, when you start a business and select the various products you want to promote, you have to determine whether or not your business has the potential to be profitable. There is no point in investing in a home business if you don’t anticipate having higher revenues than expenses. By doing some home business research, you should be able to better calculate this.

After you have done some research, you need to consider how much home business investment will initially be needed. The start-up costs for your business can vary depending on an array of issues. How many products you wish to promote, how large the products will be which will fluctuate the shipping costs, how large of a company you want to build and so on. All of this takes extensive time and consideration.

As mentioned, one of the issues you will want to do some home business research into is how large you want your company to be. If you want to have a large company, you have to be well organized and anticipate a lot of website traffic. In order to profit from the high amounts of sales, you will want to look into the mark up price for your product. This will allow you to set a price for your product that is high enough to make money on but low enough to still intrigue customers.

The last part of your home business research toward the investment facet consists of how risky the investment will be. Every business you get into has risks, especially when you are starting your own home business. However, you want to make sure that the rewards and potential success outweighs the risks that you may face. By putting down a home business investment that could potentially be extremely pricey, you have to be confident that you can get the business up and running with success.

In the business world money is everything. Starting a business from home requires extensive home business research to ensure that everything is planned to perfection. By researching and planning, the home business investment will be a whole lot less scary when it comes time to getting the business going.

Get Paid For Online Surveys — It’s Easy

Friday, March 28th, 2008

If you are looking for a really easy way to make money on the Internet, then you should consider online paid surveys. It is not hard to do, it’s fast to start up and it’s easy to get paid for online surveys.

The reasons that survey makers pay cash to people for taking surveys are: First, because they need a large data base of people of both sexes, all ages, from all walks of life to be able to meet the demographic needs of the market researchers. (One survey might be about hair curlers and aimed only at women, another might be about moustache wax and be aimed only at men). Second, because they want fast response to their questionnaires. It’s hard to get volunteers to hustle!

To get involved and start getting invitations to take surveys you need to choose a good paid survey guide company.

How do you know that it’s a good one or not? First you look for one that is sizeable and has been around for a while. It would be better if it showed signs of recent growth. Growth is a good indicator that the company is doing something right.

Look for a good 60 to 90 day money back guarantee. It would be better if the guarantee were backed up or made by a financial company such as PayPal or ClickBank or a major bank. The reason this is important is not only to be able to get your money back if you feel you were not treated fairly, but also to assure that the company will really try to take care of you and get you off to a good start, if for nothing else but to make sure they keep your sign-up fee!

Probably the single most important thing is to look at the company’s refund rate, the percentage of its clients that ask for their money back. This is the strongest indicator of recent client satisfaction. You want a guide company with a low refund rate, preferably in the 3-5% range. Avoid any with refund rates over 10% (a 10% refund rate means that 1 client in every 10 asked for a refund!)

Once you have signed up with your guide company you will need to apply to all of the survey makers on your guide company’s list. This will take some time but is necessary and will pay off later. You have to let the survey makers know you are there and give them the demographic data they need before they can invite you to participate in paid surveys.

The best part is that to get paid for online surveys you choose your own hours, you can work at any place where you have Internet access and they either send you money or make deposits in your PayPal account!

Filling out the surveys is easy too. There are no right answers and no wrong answers. The survey makers just want your honest opinion, so you just tell it like it is! And, you get paid for it!

Could You Have a Christian Home-Based Business?

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

If you’re like millions of the rest of us, you’ve thought about it. “What would it be like to have my own business, to be able to work from home? I could make a great living while having more time for my family, for ministry, and to use the gifts that God has given me.” You can imagine the simple conveniences and tremendous advantages of working from home…doesn’t it sound great?

I hate to pop into that dream bubble of yours, but let’s get back to reality. Starting and running a profitable home business is not for the faint of heart. It takes vision, planning, persistence, faith, and sacrifice.

Most of all, it takes the conviction that God has called you to a special opportunity that He has prepared for you (and prepared you for it), for the purpose of His glory, the furthering of His kingdom, and the strengthening of your faith walk.

We could talk about all kinds of specific details and decisions needed in having a home business, and they are important. However, we’re going to focus today on the bigger issue, which is the scriptural foundation of how God may want to use you as a Christian Entrepreneur with what He’s given you.

Let’s see what God’s Word has to say. Ask yourself some honest questions:

Is a home business my will or God’s will?
Our goal in any decision is to do God’s will and to bring Him glory and not ourselves.

II Corinthians 5:9 Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men; knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Am I willing to be fully responsible for all aspects of my business?
We are to be faithful stewards of everything God has given us. When we are faithful with little, He can put us in charge of more and we will have the joy of growing in the Lord.

Matthew 25:20-21 “And the one who had received the five talents came up and brought five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you entrusted five talents to me ; see, I have gained five more talents.’ “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master.’

Am I focused on serving others or getting rich?
All money is God’s and is only a means to an end, and not the end itself. We are not to set our hearts on things of this earth. Of course, God provides for our needs with His bountiful goodness and gives us all things to enjoy. Financial abundance is often achieved by self-employed entrepreneurs, and allows us to be bigger givers, bigger encouragers, and bigger partakers in adventuring with the Lord! .

Haggai 2:8 ‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ declares the Lord of hosts.

Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord from your wealth, and from the first of all your produce.

Am I willing to take chances and calculated risks?
The Lord has promised to direct our path when our ways are committed to Him. We don’t need to know everything in order to get started!

Proverbs 16: 3, 9 Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established. The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Am I willing to trust God when things get tough?
When we are in His will, there is no fear, there is no doubt. What God calls us to do, He will strengthen us and equip us to carry out.

I Thessalonians 5:24 Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

I encourage you to pray for God’s direction if you are considering a home business. God wants your heart and mind submitted to Him, first of all. He may have an adventure prepared for you that is beyond anything you can know right now! Begin seeking His specific will and see what He reveals.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

What Successful Home Businesses Do - The Power Of Positive Thinking

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Anyone who is successful in any business knows that positive thinking is a huge part of their success. Home businesses are plagued by statistics that can drag them down. Owners know that the odds are stacked against them. The home businesses that are successful have all stumbled upon one little secret that can make all the difference.

The secret is the power of positive thinking. This power is the power that motivates people to do more, to be more than they ever thought possible. It changes perspectives and motivates personal growth. It changes you and you are the only thing that is holding back your success.

Positive thinking can work its way into every facet of your life to turn it around. Ever noticed how when you get up in the morning and stub your toe on the bed how things gradually decline from there. You immediately start a stream of negative thoughts that create negative energy and you end up with a bad day.

Just imagine if you stubbed your toe and instead of letting lode a stream of four letter words you let lose with a hearty “Oof” and a “Boy that hurts, but thankfully the fact that I can feel means I have a foot that works and I have two good legs to walk on.” These thought are creating positive energy, positive thinking that will attract more positive energy. You can change what could have been a disastrous morning into a bright success filled morning.

Now take that example apply it to your business ideas and multiply it by ten. Every potential stubbing of the toe is a learning opportunity. Thanks to this pitfall, we know what doesn’t work and we can build from here. Your building blocks are now characterized by the positive things you see in them and this creates more positive energy and attracts success for you and your business.

This concept because it seems so simple is often written off as a small thing not deserving more than a few moments acknowledgement. But the truth is the people who grasp this concept and work to incorporate it into their lives and businesses and changed completely.

Successful business owners have grabbed this concept and applied it to their lives. They have realized that no matter what everyone else thinks or does, they can control their attitude and change the way they see things. An attitude of gratitude coupled with the power of being positive builds businesses into successful empires.

Waitressing Jobs - Great For A While But Long Hours Were Stressful On My Family

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

It was a chilly Sunday morning in March when I arrived at the restaurant that I had been working at for six years now. My feet were killing me from the 18 hours that I had worked the day before and I was preparing for another long day. My husband was home with the children again and he was getting a little tired of my being away on the weekends and not being home with the family. He was being kind about the whole ordeal but I could see it in his eyes that it was taking its toll on him. He had a stressful job and he looked forward to the weekends to relax but it was hard for him since he had to play mister Mom.

I knew that I had to do something I couldn’t expect my family to go through each weekend the same way. I needed to find another way to earn money and contribute to supporting the family in a way that would enhance our relationship together and not cause stress for everyone. A friend of mine mentioned to me that she had been working on a home-based business for the past two years and she didn’t have to leave home and go to a traditional job to support her family. The home-based business gave her the autonomy to take care of family necessities as they arose. Also, her marriage wasn’t stressed out like it had been when she was working outside of her home.

I decided to look into starting a home-based business of my own before the stress on my family became too great. I knew that from being a waitress I didn’t mind talking to people that I didn’t know, in fact it came fairly easy for me to talk to strangers so I looked for a business that I could start part-time from home and build it up to eventually replace my waitressing job. I found an interesting network marketing company online and then set out to find a sponsor that I could work with in the company.

The first step in finding the right network marketing company to work with is to find one with a product that you like. Since network marketing is referral marketing you will do better referring people to a product that you like and believe in than one you don’t.

The next, and quite possibly the most important, step is to find a sponsor that you can work with. Everyone brings their own set of unique circumstances to a project and some will be able to relate to your circumstances while others will not understand you at all. You will be more successful in your network marketing business if you have a sponsor who understands your situation and can work with you to build your business while being considerate of your needs. The sponsor is your teacher and coach for your network marketing business the better you are trained the more successful you will become.

It has been five years since I started my home-based business and I have never been happier. I no longer have to go to work and stand for hours nor do I have to leave my family on the weekends. I’d say for me that working on a home-based business is the best decision that I have made.

Take it from me if you are looking for a way out of the proverbial rat race you should really consider starting a home-based business, it is well worth the effort.

I’m Carolyn Miller and I invite you to check out the best jerky I’ve ever tasted. There are several flavors to choose from and three different meats: beef, buffalo, and turkey. Unlike store bought jerky (who knows how long it’s been sitting on the shelf), our jerky is 100% natural, made with no preservatives, nitrites, hormones, antibiotics, MSG, or artificial ingredients. And it’s shipped straight to your door absolutely free! Come taste the difference!
