Feeling Connected

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Has there ever been a time in your life journey that you felt “connected”? What does this mean? Does this mean that everything you do is in harmony with the world? Bliss, peace, serenity etc. Why is there a need to understand this?

As a Feng Shui Consultant, I find myself more engaged in a conversation about issue as opposed to the energy analysis of the home. The conversation is centered on issue. This conversation promoted the opportunity for connecting. We are a lonely society. People need to talk, to be heard. My clients felt the need to be heard. Over time, I felt like a Feng Shui therapist. What was intriquing was the story that was told to me. The story had a intended message. Telling a story gave a reason for the client to connect. This process allowed the client to deal with “issue”.

“Connecting″ through story is an empowering experience. This motivates and heals. Take for instance the Chicken Soup series, stories of ordinary folks that inspire. all of us on this earth have a story to tell.

Stories allow us to “create”. This is a deep need. If the story is told by the person, this releases built up pain inside. Has this beautiful art been lost?

Your home is a “story book″. It is a metaphor or a direct reflection of your journey, future aspirations, or past pain.
There are 3 simple ideas that I present in my seminars that have the intention to connect your spirit to the real world.
I like to share this with you.

1. Clear the clutter. There are many books out there that “show you how″. Clutter clogs flow, blocks health and money. The key to prosperity is flow, energy (qi) must meander into a home like a river and escape slowly. Give away 5 things a week, I do and I attract good luck at all times. Walter Lubeck in his book “The Tao of Money” talks about this simple concept, if you want to prosper, give things away. Move the old to receive the new. Now I could write a whole book on this, I think I will now that I mentioned this.

2. Create an environment that is beautiful such as vibrant colors in paint, plants, beautiful art and objects. Your home does not have to cost a million dollars to be beautiful. Many of my clients have average houses but for those who feel connected to their home, things around them that inspire beauty speaks for the inside. Beauty is the eye of the beholder they say, a beautiful home = a beautiful spirit.

3. Prosperity in the home and into your life is fully dependent on “flow”. Qi (chi) the earth’s cosmic breathe is always in a state of creation. A pond of water that does not flow becomes stagant. Moving energy of the dragon is like bringing fortune to the home. That is why straight designs are avoided in the design of the home. All things in nature are round. If these concepts of nature are modelled into the home through the placement of things that generate a meandering flow of energy slowly allowed to exit with no blockages, then the home feels in harmony.

You need to understand that the home is not a place with four walls, it is a sanctuary for harmony and healing. “Bring the angels in and keep the devil out” as Master Joseph Yu once said 2 the 2001 Feng Shui Association Dinner in Toronto, Canada. In other words, the quickest way to become connected is find that home that nurtures the spirit.

Tune in next week for the article “There is an Angel in My Back Pocket” How to rely on your angels in your home.

Online Income an Effective Program

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

If you want to make money online then you need to find an effective system which has been developed to assist you in doing so. Unless you have extensive knowledge of internet marketing / affiliate marketing which is highly recommended to become successful online then you need to become involved with a program that will guide you through the steps to success.

Remember you will not reach your goal and making money online unless you are willing to do the time. What I mean by this is there are a lot of wishful individuals crying scam to everything online since they did not make millions overnight. If you ask them a specific question for example did you spend a minimum of 2 hours a day working the program and following the directions? I can guarantee you that most will say no I didn’t see any success after a week so I gave up or cried scam.

This is unfortunate for a lot of individuals who could see success and for a lot of business opportunities who receive a bad rap for this reason. I for one have tried numerous online/work at home opportunities until I found the one for me. Yes there are a lot of opportunities out there and not all are for everyone. I didn’t cry scam when they did not make me a millionaire overnight I just moved on. I did see an opportunity in each product or program it just didn’t work for me or my schedule.

One thing I did learn during my many trials is that it takes a lot of time and effort to get an online business going and to keep it going. The internet gurus as we call them did not have success over night. They also had to work many hours to get were they are. The one thing about putting in the time (may be many years of hard work) is eventually we will be were they are and able to now create our own hours.

If you have an open mind, can follow directions and not try to reinvent the wheel then you too can be successful with an online/work at home opportunity. If you are looking to get rich overnight and not have to do any work then I would suggest you move on to something else.

Back to my opening statement about finding an effective system to help you reach your goals; there are many out there that are just as good as the next you just have to find what works for you. You can check out my directory to find a listing of the Top Picks for 2007 and hopefully find something that works for you. Just remember if you’re not willing to commit the time than please move on to something else.

MLM Training - A Common Prospecting Mistake You Definitely Want to Avoid

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

MLM trainers often teach you to “mirror” whatever your prospect does. He scratches his nose…you scratch yours, etc. I tried this and it didn’t work. So I tested a bunch of other things, and found this tip to work the best.

One of the most important things you want to do when talking with people about your MLM business and/or products is to be up-beat.

Now, what does that mean? The word upbeat means to be full of optimism or cheerfulness.

As a phone tip, your actions, the tone of your voice, what you talk about and how you respond to your prospect’s questions and comments should be full of optimism and/or cheerfulness.

Now I know you may be wondering why being full of optimism and cheerful is related to building a successful and profitable MLM business. Continue reading…I’ll explain.

Why would you want to be cheerful and optimistic to your prospect? Why not be the opposite - negative and sad? Because people (your prospect) enjoy talking with, being around and working with people (you) who are cheerful and optimistic.

Now, let me warn you about a common mistake. This is an MLM training nugget you will want to write down and never forget.

DON’T BE TOO FULL OF OPTIMISM AND CHEERFULNESS.

Before I explain this, please know that I didn’t make this rule. I only observed that it’s there! Around me and when you call into the office, I urge you to be as happy as you can be!

But if you’re considerably more cheerful and optimistic than the person you’re talking to, you are at a different level than they are and this will make communication more difficult.

Imagine that you just won the lottery and you are jumping up and down and screaming with cheerfulness. You’re standing next to someone who just got fired from their job. The two of you are very different in your mood. You will just annoy this unemployed person.

So what’s the “right” amount of cheerfulness - for any prospect?

Optimally, use slightly more optimism and cheerfulness than the prospect is showing you.

If you’re someone who follows my training, this may sound a lot like Communication Quality #4: Use the right amount of assertiveness. But it also looks a bit like Communication Quality #6: Ensure your body doesn’t distract the prospect and Communication Quality #9: Communicate at the prospect’s level of understanding.

The truth is that there are many communication qualities this prospecting tip is similar to because it is part of the basic underlying issue when you talk to prospects.

How would you know if you’re being too optimistic or cheerful? As always, you must observe the person you’re talking to. Remember, you’re interested in him or her and the reaction they’re having about you.

Generating Traffic To Your Website Is Important

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

It is a well known fact that traffic is the most essential thing to a successful internet based business. Aside from ensuring that you have a good website design, a top quality product, as well as a top quality sales letter, now it is time to generate targeted traffic to your website.

It is imperative that you understand that all the parts that represent your business, such as your website design, or your sales copy, or the product itself, are all equally important to the success of your business. If any of these items are below standard and are unable to retain the visitor’s attention, it doesn’t matter how much traffic that you can bring to your site, your visitor will quickly click the back button for other more interesting sites. Retaining your visitor’s interest is of paramount importance.

The methods of generating traffic are various, but before you can start you will need something to attract them. The initial purpose for attracting visitors to your website should be to start creating an opt-in list. This list will be a source of future sales as they are already interested in your niche, as well as the free item you will give them in exchange for their name and email address. The free item can be anything that is related to your niche market. An example would be an email course, or a short report created from your research notes when you were initially looking at this particular niche market. Another item would be a niche orientated Ebook which you either have the giveaway rights for, or better still a re-brand-able Ebook, which will contain your affiliate links for products of interest in the niche - one of the systems mentioned below - viral marketing.

Below is a list of some of the more popular methods for generating visitors to your website:

1. Offer a newsletter to your visitors that will provide information about the niche

2. Publish articles to article directories on subjects of interest to the niche market.

3. Start looking at forums related to the niche. Post to these forums with your link in the signature area.

4. Optimize your website for the search engines.

5. Create a Viral product that carries your name, website address as well as any relevant links to other products.

6. Exchange or trade links with other sites, especially those with a Google page rank - the higher ranking the better.

7. Organize advertising in a Pay Per Click service to send targeted traffic to your opt-in list sign-up page or your product.

The above methods are very briefly outlined here and are intended as a guide only. The more people that know what you are about, simply by word of mouth your existence is shared with others. You will find a loyal group of regulars that can provide you with more visitors by referral. One thing that is essential to continued success is to keep on generating the traffic, even after you have created a large list, a successful business is a hungry entity.

Confessions of a Home Biz Junkie

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

I have been involved in many mlm and direct sales companies over the span of my 9 year career. It has given me vast insight into the industry. Also, I have learned more about myself and the secret key ingredients to success that so few people learn and even fewer apply.

My experiences have been my greatest teacher though all were preceded by learning from someone already successful at what I currently wanted to do. I hate the idea of “making my own mistakes” when I could just as easily learn from someone else’s. Even still, there have been many spectacular failures along with the successes.

Sometimes you will be ready to receive success, other times you won′t. There may still be a lesson you must learn to be worthy of the success you seek.

The Laundry List of Companies in my past:

-Equinox International (health supplies)

-Amway (roped into a meeting at Denny′s only)

-Excel Communications (phone services)

-Quest International (financial training)

-EXE Series (internet marketing explained)

-Networth USA (real estate training)

-Direct Matches (business networking)

It may seem like I jump from company to company and in hindsight I did. Also, my powers of perception were weak enough to make me susceptible to some scams (12 daily pro being the most glaring). But I regret none of it because you have to be open or nothing happens in your life.

So, over the 9 years of blood, sweat and tears what have I learned you ask? Too many things to tell you in this short article but I will give you the keys so you can avoid my mistakes.

1. Do some due diligence. Don’t beat a dead horse so you never have to make a decision. But search “company name scam” or “company name reviews″ in your favorite engine. If 1 or 2 bad things or even a few hundred no big deal. If millions, watch out. Also, talk to others already in the company to get there take.

Immediately read the policies and procedures of those companies you are interested in. You want to see if there are any red flags (ongoing recruiting, minimum 4 sales per month, etc.) that can allow the company to steal the check you’ve built. Then make the best decision for you based on the info you have.

Once you decide (quickly but not without relevant info) stand fast to it, resolve never to quit, and GET INTO ACTION.

2. Find a mentor. Go as high up your upline as you need to in locating someone who is achieving the success you desire. This has been my largest realization though it seems obvious. Then make sure to follow AND apply their advice.

3. Find a mastermind group. This can be as easy as getting on your company or team’s training calls. Every good company should provide written, audio, and video training. Or find a couple of people above your level of achievement to exchange ideas with. In person is best, but teleconference will do. Put the ideas into action immediately.

4. Map out where you want to be in 6 months and 1 year from today. As humans our brains are goal-seeking units. Give yourself a target to aim for so you′ll at least know you hit or missed and what to do from there. Be specific with money goals, size of your team, number of leaders you will develop, and skills you will learn.

5. Break down the global list into small, consistent action steps you will take everyday. This will keep you focused (my past nemesis to success) and allow you to know and see how you are going to accomplish them. Huge goals are beyond our understanding and never get done. Many small, simple steps added up allow us to reach those big goals.

6. Have a basic understanding of your compensation plan. You don’t have to know every detail but enough to know what pays you. Different comp plans are better suited to different personality types. Type in “4 personality types” in your favorite search for more info on what you are and the comp plan that best allows your success.

7. Now that you know what activities pay you, suck out those that don’t and spend a higher percentage of your time on those that do. Successful people I have seen spend 80-90% of their WORKING time (play is also important) on money retrieving activity.

8. Know that setbacks will come. The universe will send you tests and challenges. Weather them, stay in the game and focused on your goals, and ride them out.

9. Review and revise along the way. Go to the end of your goals and work backward to figure out what must happen to achieve them. At the end of each month look at what happened and adjust your actions if you are not achieving your written goals.

10. Enjoy the journey and commit to learning along the way. That is what being a leader is all about. Lead from the front and by example and have fun while doing it. You will meet great people along the way so combine high tech with high touch.

These are the main things experience has taught me. You must have some kind of marketing system that generates leads for you. The big boys in the industry use the internet so do what they do.

Remember, you are building your cash flow long-term so don’t think it’s a sprint. Resolve to have a marathoner’s spirit.

The greatest thing about home businesses is that you put out tremendous effort today and the rewards come back to you over and over and over again. There are some scams but the industry is strong and if you ever want financial independence this is the cheapest, best, easiest way to do it.

Traditional businesses and franchises cost hundreds of thousands to start. Most home businesses are less than $1000 to start.

So get up off your butt and start taking the action that will allow you to achieve all the dreams you have for your life. Become your own personal genie and grant yourself unlimited wishes.

Who Do You Sign Up With?

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

Martin Luther King once said: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”.

Those words resonate as strongly today as it did when it was spoken over 40 years ago. Great leadership will propel you to the next level, it will help guide you in making decisions and ultimately, by choice, it will mould you into the person you want to be. In any environment where there is a team concept such as a union, a sports team, a business, cub scouts, girl guides or what have you, the type of leadership demonstrated is what separates the great organizations from the good ones.

When you are considering joining a network marketing or direct sales company - and there are 120,000 of you doing just that every month – the person sponsoring you must have the ability to bring out the best in you and, in turn, you must show him or her you are coachable and willing to take instruction to be the best you can be. Failing that, you will fail. Definitely words not to live by. But there’s a lot more to it. As you enter the world of network marketing you also enter the world of business ownership. You must treat your business as such and not as a past time if you want the results you desire. And no matter what the product is, always remember your business is a people business first.

Leadership takes many forms and as you sponsor people you will attract those that show the leadership skills necessary to build a great organization and at the same time help grow your business. In that mix, however, there will be those that work against you and complain about what’s always wrong stay clear of those types and even better don’t sponsor them, it’s not worth it!

At the turn of the century, “Good to Great” a best-selling book by Jim Collins was published. It documents 11 publicly traded companies that achieved cumulative returns at least three times the market for 15 straight years. The person at the helm of these great companies was labelled a Level 5 leader. These leaders all shared at least one thing in common and one of them was how they served their organizations and its people. It’s no different in network marketing or direct sales. Obviously you will evaluate the business opportunity but also evaluate the person sponsoring you, are they the kind of leader you want to work with? Will they help you get to where you want to go? It is not only a business you are entering, you are also entering a partnership.

An opportunity like the Coastal Vacations Call Center is a partnership with not only your sponsor (a.k.a. Director) but also with a team of sales professionals who present the Coastal business to your prospects and close your sales. This business model is ideal for people on the go or for those who do not like to sell.

In the end, if you have great success in your business it wasn’t all because of the leader who brought you in but they do deserve a good deal of credit. The same can be said if you fail miserably, the leader who brought you in should get some of the blame but you must also look in the mirror for your answers. Choose wisely!

Want To Make More Money Online?

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways for new marketers to get started making money on the internet and is also an excellent source of revenue for experienced marketers too. Affiliate marketing provides many of the benefits of having your own home based business but cuts out quite a lot of the problems of having one. It is extremely easy to begin affiliate marketing and does not require any start up costs.

There are a number of benefits for starting with affiliate marketing such as:

You do not have to spend time and money to create your own product. This is especially important to new marketers as many do not have the experience, ability or knowledge required to create a product, new marketers can begin affiliate marketing practically straight away instead of spending their time and money developing a product.

You do not have to deal with customers and support problems. This gives you the ability to spend most of your time building ways to earn affiliate commissions and increasing your commissions. You would get money from sales you generate but would not have to worry about things like refunds, support questions, answering emails or any of the other time consuming activities involved with running an internet business.

You can begin with practically no start up money. Developing an internet business costs money, you would have to develop products, write sales copy, outsource graphics, purchase domains and hosting and many other costly activities, however, working as an affiliate cuts out most of these costs, all you need to do is drive customers to a merchants sales page and you will get paid, you can do this in many ways that do not cost money.

Those are just a few examples of why affiliate marketing is an excellent business model for new marketers and can help a lot in building confidence, knowledge, marketing ability and income that would be extremely valuable when building your own internet business.

Earning affiliate commissions is not as hard as you may think, there are a number of ways you can use to drive traffic to a merchants website such as:

Writing articles and submitting them to article directories
Writing reviews and submitting them to article directories
Posting on forums
Press releases
Free advertising methods like free ad forums, traffic exchanges, safelists, etc.
Social networking sites

And many more, there is traffic everywhere on the internet and you just have to find ways to drive some of it to your merchants sales page.

One of the most important things you should be doing when involved with affiliate marketing is capturing the contact details of your prospects as this will allow you to follow up with them and recommend different products to them for affiliate commissions. You can do this using a simple autoresponder or list management system.

Build A Home Based Business - Work From Home Online

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

There is a myth out there that working from home is easy and that anyone can do it. The only truth in that statement is that anyone can do it. However, running your own business online is just as involved as running a business in the real world. I would suggest that to build a home based business, work from home online, as this is a low cost investment and yet can provide a good income if you are prepared to put in the work at the start.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of people try their hand at running home businesses that do most of the business online. The majority of those people fail. Not because their business idea was bad, or their service was not needed. It is just that it required more work than they thought it would.

Building your home based business takes time, a lot of time, and energy and effort. There are periods when even the most dedicated entrepreneur gets frustrated and wants to quit. You must not do this, not if it is what you really want. Opening a business out in the world, you can expect to give three years of your life to that business to make it successful, and in the first year, very, very few people see a profit. The goal of that first year is to get up and running and not end up too far in the hole. It is the second year where you break even and the third year is usually when the profit starts to show. Thankfully, online businesses do not take three years of your life away, just one year.

Looking online for a business opportunity, most sites will tell you that it is going to take three months for you to see a profit, providing you are doing all the necessary work that has to be done. You are building the website, you are driving traffic, doing your advertising, link sharing and so on. Your business really will not build itself - you have to work at it.

There is trial and error involved in running your own internet business. What works for you is really only going to be found out by you. Any good business opportunity program is going to offer you training so that you can duplicate the system they have for you are successful. After all, most of these programs are built on the success of each member, so it is to their benefit, as much as it is to yours, for you to be profitable.

To start a home based business, work from home online, but be aware that the most crucial element to its success is effective targeted marketing. Without loads of hungry visitors to your website, you do not have a business. First and foremost, learn the essential skills of how to bring traffic to your business. Develop a good system for doing this, and you will soon begin to reap the rewards and have time and money to do the things you want to do.

One of the best sites I have found, that can get you up and running quickly, is startacashflow.com startacashflow.com Not only do they teach you how to get abundant amounts of hungry traffic to any website that you will ever own, but they also build two fully functional, ready-to-make money, websites for you. Why Is The Internet Great For Starting A Home Business?

Friday, September 28th, 2007

The following article is one of a series of articles which focus on Affiliate, Article and Internet Marketing. All of the articles are based on real experiences and research done over twenty years as a personal and business coach. They are also written in response to questions which I have been asked as well as address common challenges that people have with affiliate marketing, article marketing, internet marketing or running an online business in general. I sincerely hope that you find the following information of value. One idea, one tip, one clue can make all the difference.

There have always been opportunities to work at home and run a home business. Sadly, there have also been scams set up to take people’s hard earned money. There are, however, plenty of real and legitimate opportunities for those with the desire to run a home business and earn additional income working from home.

With a ‘bricks and mortar’ home business, one significant problem can be raising working capital if we can’t fund it ourselves. This may be for premises, equipment, inventory, advertising, marketing and other start-up costs.

Without these necessary basics, I think it would extremely difficult if not impossible to succeed. However, over the past few years, the internet has helped to overcome almost all of these issues and has opened its doors to literally millions of budding entrepreneurs who wish to make a success of running a home business.

Why Is The Internet Great For Starting A Home Business?

The Internet is the ideal vehicle for starting a home business because it provides the opportunity for us to get started in a real business from home with very little start-up costs. Not only does this put the opportunity in front of a lot more people, part time or full time, it has made it possible for a home business to compete on a world wide scale with much larger enterprises.

With nothing much more than a website with a targeted product and / or service to sell, someone can be at home running their business which can be visible to the world wide web. If the website is professionally designed and hosted, it can even create the impression that the enterprise is a lot larger than it actually is.

========SIDEBAR========
Internet Marketing and running an online home business isn’t as easy as many would have us believe. This article shows that running a home business on the internet is certainly a lot more easy, especially at start-up, than many ‘bricks and mortar’ home businesses. However, you are here, right now, because you have a desire to start a home business, improve your business, and be more successful. If your desire is strong, may I recommend that you read some of the other internet marketing and home business articles that are here with the sole intention of helping you to make the whole process a lot easier.

======END SIDEBAR======

Let’s look at why the Internet has become so popular, and why so many people have embraced it
for starting a home business.

Home business entrepreneurs do not have many overheads. The Internet home business does not have the expenses often associated with a traditional brick and mortar business.

Typically, most people who have the desire to start an Internet home business already have a computer and have access to the Internet. So, they already own two of the most important assets. The third one, of course, being themselves.

When I look back a few years and recall that it was not that easy and not cheap to design and host a website, ease of use and affordability of a website is certainly the order of the day now. For all of us, this is the benefit of competition online. A website domain can be registered and hosted for a few dollars a month. Moreover, many hosting companies also provide website development software.

Alternatively, there is a continuing growth in the development of ‘ready-made’ websites and hosting packages. They are worth checking out but it is going to depend on the longer term plans you have for your online home business what is going to be the right choice for you.

As always, do your research, search online and do cost / benefit checks before making your final decisions.

Actual physical storage space and Inventory is usually not needed. If your desire is to run a retail home business, it is usually not necessary to invest at start-up. ‘Drop shipping’ is very common among online retail businesses. This basically means that you, the seller, wouldn’t need to have actual inventory or have to worry about stock control. The products you would promote would not be ordered until one of your customers has bought the product and then it would be shipped directly to the customer by the distributor – a seamless process allowing you to concentrate on developing your online retail business with few of the headaches associated with retail.

Methods of advertising and marketing are also plentiful. Depending on start-up budget, you can choose from a number of free resources (some being better than others) to paid advertising such as pay per click, pay per lead, pay per sale.

Again, I cannot stress enough, do your research. Take the time to read up on both the free and paid methods of advertising. There is a wealth of articles here as well as detailed explanations and instructions provided by the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN.

If you decide to use pay per click which is certainly one of the most powerful methods of getting traffic to your site, learn first. There is no excuse not to find out how it works and how to use it effectively. Yes it is powerful but people have spent large amounts of their advertising budget with little return for their investment. Don’t make this mistake, learn first.

There are many good opportunities to make money online with a variety of businesses and those who are focusing on tight niche markets are making a very healthy income for their endeavors. Research and evaluate the business idea or opportunity that interests you before jumping in head first. Once you find the right opportunity, appreciate that it will take time and hard work. If you do, you will be well on your way to running you own successful home business.

Work at Home - Growing @ the Speed of Thought!

Friday, September 28th, 2007

7 years back an average regular person could not even have imagined there would be a way which would make it possible for everyone and anyone to work at home. One thought of ones job and the next jump. We kept a secret eye on vacancy column of the newspaper lest we missed The OPPORTUNITY of our lives!! Always keeping a copy of an updated C.V.handy. This was how our minds worked. Things have changed for the better! So much so that even government is accepting and recognising the importance of work at home business.

Work at home business opportunities offer great many conveniences. A situation where you do not have to commute to your workplace, was something unheard of till a few years back. And now as per a leading Govt Journal “Home Based Business entrepreneur on an average is making $40,000 to $200,000 p.a. through legitimate means” is no mean feat in itself!

Most multinationals and Government Houses in America and across the developed countries are realizing that 70% of office work is such that it can be done from home. The paradigm shift is already happening. It’s a win-win situation. It’s working out to be more cost-effective for employer and brings in obvious conveniences to the employee. Employer saves on administration costs (office space to electricity bills). And employee can
be home with family, saves time, traveling expense and earns their living working from home.

It can be thus concluded that work at home business is an opportunity that has hit the bull’s eye! Its the most logical outcome considering pace at which the commercial scene across the globe is changing.
