Prospecting - Who Else is Tired of Tire Kickers - Tip #4

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

We are still in the process of deciding if our prospect is worth our time. We continue to ask questions. This takes some practice and good listening skills. You can, however, get the hang of it rather quickly. One tool to use is to answer your prospect’s question with another question. For example, let’s say a prospect asks you, “How much money does your product cost?” Early in your effort to recruit you prospect, that’s not likely a question you might choose to answer. You might respond with something like, “How important is money to you?” This is not at all to say you are dodging a direct answer. It is, however, to say that it’s all about keeping the prospect vocalizing and your maintaining control of the conversation. The minute you lose control (the power), things go downhill fast. This way also helps to make the prospect feel more at ease.

Next try asking questions that are hard to disagree with: “Would you agree that an extra $2-3K per month would make a difference for you and your family?” “Are you willing to get more information so that you can make an informed decision to help change the quality of your present life?”

Then attempt to create some sort of urgency for the prospect to act (invite them to go to your site, sign up for a free conference call, etc.): “Assuming this is a good opportunity for you, how soon will you be ready to begin earning extra income?”

Questions to ask that can also elicit “yes” responses are small phrases like, “can you,” “don’t they” and “aren’t you.” Here’s an example…most folks would like to be making more money – wouldn’t you?” “People are seeing the benefit of this (product/service) in their lives – can you?” Words can provide emotional (left brain) responses.

Finally, seek to match your prospect’s voice pitch or tone. By that I mean things like using words you hear them use, speaking at the same pace you hear them speaking, at the same volume you hear them use. Try some these free tips and discover how your sign up rates will increase.

The Secret of Your Home Business Success - Specialize And Get A Coach!

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

When it comes to auspicious Home Based Businesses, many people tend to think negatively about these opportunities, rather than taking the chance to evaluate them in a new light. Clearing the mind of everything one has heard about work at home opportunities in the past will help to open up and understand things one would not understand with too many preconceived notions inside the head. Take the chance and open up to new inspiring new coaching programs!

You probably have already a certain idea in mind of what network marketing and work from home is all about - housewives offering Tupperware, or a high-pressure salesperson trying to convince you how easily you can become a multi-millionaire. However, both of these images couldn′t be farther from reality. It’s neither a hobby nor a get-rich-scheme. It is rather a real opportunity for you to earn money from home.

How to find “The Best” Program

But how to find out which program is suitable for you? Don’t decide on a company too fast but take your time and choose wisely. It doesn’t make sense if you fall for “BEST Compensation Plan Ever”, or “Greatest Marketing System Ever” or something like that. Go for substance, go for scientific proof behind the products, go for well written- and sold books (e.g. written by the founder of this company) and go for unique selling points.

Many home business companies out there have the “Coolest & Best Product of All Time”, but little to offer in terms of real value for future customers. You should rather choose a company that concentrates on a few high quality products, backed by strong scientific research, than one of the huge network marketing companies. And remember to check the volume you have to buy monthly to stay in business: everything above 50 US$ is over-priced.

Specializing will bring Success!

Most of the big and well-known direct selling companies are selling just too many products at once, from kitchen bowl to shampoo to cleaner to motor-oil. Take a different path: choose the specialized ones, where you can really focus on a certain point of interest. Look for products developed and created by scientists, with researching results being famous throughout the world. Focus on a specific issue, product, or philosophy that really affects people, and search for auspicious niche products with high potential even for the years to come.

An experienced coach will show you a real chance to step out of the regular, out of the dullness of usual jobs, and out of the constraint and confinement of every day’s work which you maybe don’t like. Be your own boss and decide when and what to work, and with whom. We are talking about real independence! Choose a company that concentrates on a few high quality products, backed by strong scientific research, and get an experienced coach to pave the way for you!

Home Business: Did You Show Up For Work Today?

Friday, April 27th, 2007

“Eighty percent of success is showing up.”

- Woody Allen

In their best selling book “Younger Next Year: A Guide to Living Like 50 Until You′re 80 and Beyond″, authors Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge echo that sentiment as it pertains to health and fitness. Chris often talks about how you have to “show up” for what is required even if retired. If you want to maintain health and fitness, particularly in the later years of life, you have to make the personal commitment and have the personal discipline to show up to perform your required tasks, just as you were required to do during the years that you worked a job.

If you have not worked a job in a long time, but have been successful at a home business, or even a traditional storefront business, you know what I am talking about. If you have are a successful attorney, accountant, doctor, dentist, or any other self-employed individual, you are keenly aware that this concept of showing up for work, even when you are the boss, has been a major contributor to the success you have enjoyed.

I am a network marketer. I AM my own boss. Sunday, my boss told me to get out of bed and do some work…and I complied. As the boss, I was aware that the tasks needed to be done, and as the employee I performed those tasks diligently and to the best of my ability, just as I would have if I was still working in someone else’s office.

Before I go further on this topic, I’ll answer the question that’s on the tip of your tongue. What good is it to be the boss if you still have to work just like in a job?

Well, I get to make the executive decisions, I DO work in my pajamas (every day is dress-down Friday), I start when I feel like it, knock off early if I want to, grab my keys, jump in the Prius and go for a drive, or toss some clothes and a laptop in the car and go to Florida occasionally. I get to take my wife to lunch whenever I want, and I can drink beer with my lunch and not worry about customers or the boss smelling it on my breath. I just told a friend on the phone last night that the next time he was in town, give me a call and I would come over and have lunch with him. I could say that because I am at work right now, and if he calls, I can stop what I am doing and go see him.

Oh yeah, I made a six-figure income last year. That part helps.

But none of that would be part of my life right now if I did not show up for work every day that I am supposed to be there.

This is where so many who are new to network marketing or running a home business or home based internet business make their mistake. They are not aware that they may now be the boss, but they are still the employee as well.

A few years ago, I worked for a huge national business. I trained people who had never worked in the industry before to go out and work virtually independently in a field where they could make a large income. The key was that they had to “show up” for work without any supervision and little guidance. A great many of them failed simply because they could not or would not meet that one very major requirement.

Among the people I taught were several with very little education or intelligence, but those who had a great work ethic, the ones who did show up day after day, were able to take care of themselves and their families better than they ever could have hoped to.

Network marketing and home businesses are like that. They do not run themselves, and things that need to be done do not get done just because the “boss” says, “Make it so, Number One!”

If you want to succeed in network marketing or with your own home business, show up for work.

Life Is A Banquet - And Most Poor Suckers Are STARVING

Friday, April 27th, 2007

One late night many years ago, I was sick with the flu or my girlfriend had left me or something— I don′t remember what. But anyway, I couldn′t sleep, so I went into the living room and turned on the TV. Television has a way of making me feel better. It’s been my constant companion for as long as I can remember.

Speed Racer and Bugs Bunny were my heroes. I used to tie my bathrobe sleeves around my neck and let the robe hang down my back, pretending I was Batman (I was four years old). And I wanted to be Moe from the Three Stooges because he was the “smart one” and he led the other two…

But back to my story. On this particular night, I stopped my surfing on an old Technicolor movie called Auntie Mame. In the movie, the title character is a spinster who marches to the beat of her own drum. Despite being older yet single, this lady was always happy with herself. So I’m watching this movie with half-interest until this character says something that almost knocks me out of my chair—

“Oh, darling, life’s a banquet— and most poor suckers are STARVING!”

I’m not a middle aged white woman, I’m a Black man, and I was about 30 years old at the time. But that line just hit me where I was living. I was starving! Not for food— in fact I was overweight..but in life. I had taken exactly what “life″ had given me— and no more. But so much more was available! And I wasn’t having any of it. What’s worse, it was my own fault.

I don′t remember how the movie ended, because I was too busy thinking about what Mame had said to me. And I wasn′t gonna be a “sucker” anymore!

Fast forward to today when my banquet table is full— because I have an idea. OK, it’s actually SOMEONE ELSE′S idea— but it works for me too. I’m having FUN, building the largest, most profitable, highest retention organization in the HISTORY OF NETWORK MARKETING— easily and consistently— through education and teamwork.

And God Bless Auntie Mame!

Home Businesses Have Key Advantages… Just What You’ve Been Looking For

Friday, April 27th, 2007

What advantages are presented by a home business?

When asked why I wanted to start a home business, the first answer I could come up with was that I needed more freedom. I felt my job had control over me and constricted the time I needed to spend with my friends and family. Working from home allows you to have more time to do things like watch your kids grow, travel the world, truly enjoy the holidays, and entertain your wildest dreams and fantasies… whatever they may be.

You can’t fire me

Becoming my own boss was definitely motivation to start a home business. I grew tired of working for an employer who knew less than me but got paid ten fold my salary. Being my own boss, I have an opportunity to cultivate a business… I’m allowed to make mistakes without feeling that my job position is threatened. No dress codes and deadlines to deal with. It’s just my business and me.

Traveling in the morning

Avoiding the morning commute was also a huge incentive for me to start a home business. For those of you that drive, you know of all the stress that rush hour brings. The rest of us take public transportation that never seems to arrive on schedule. The morning and evening commute alone can deter you from going to work. A home business virtually eliminates the morning commute—a huge advantage.

I want a raise!

Many people work for a particular company or corporations for years before they actually see a significant raise. With a home business, the money you make is relative to the amount of time you put into your business. Want more money? Put in a couple extra hours this weekend and skip the movie… it’s that simple.

Less risk more reward

There is much less risk in starting a home business as opposed to other businesses. It is also easier to maintain and fine tune. Instead of worrying about employees, building maintenance, warehouse delivery, and overhead cost, you are only concerned with the growth of your business. The lesser risk of a home business is probably the most noticeable advantage.

Scarce job opportunities

Finding work nowadays continues to become more difficult–especially if you live in a huge city like New York or Los Angeles. Job employers are simply more selective on whom they choose to hire or keep when it is time for the company to downsize (or fire the extra baggage). If you are going from interview to interview you should consider a home business—it will be worth your while.

I love my job!

A home business gives you a chance to do a job you actually want to wake up to in the morning. You should want to do your job, not feel as if you have to do it.

Home Business Ideas for Beginners III

Friday, April 27th, 2007

If you have private label rights you can even put your affiliate links to any products offered for sale within it, and also insert your own Adsense blocks where relevant. There are several private label rights subscription sites on the internet that provide you with several products monthly for your monthly payment. These are excellent sources of products for those of you new to internet marketing, though it is important that you learn marketing techniques in order to effectively promote them.

There are other ways to make money without needing a website. For example you can buy and sell using eBay. Many people make a living purchasing items from eBay and reselling at a higher price. Others purchase wholesale and resell on eBay while yet others make a living using dropshipping. This is where you register with a dropshipper who provides you with a catalogue of products at wholesale prices. You sell for your own price on eBay and when you are paid, you send the wholesale price to the dropshipper along with the name and address of the purchaser, and the dropshipper looks after order fulfillment (i.e. delivery).

So, these are a few home business ideas for beginners at internet marketing. You should check them all out, do your research with a few internet searches, then take the plunge. Spend as much as you can afford on your website option, because that will the whole base of your business eventually, and use the internet auction sites once you have learned how to do so to your advantage.

There is a whole world out there for you to reach and sell to, so be positive and you will succeed.

How To Build Your MLM Business Like A True Professional

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

I didn′t realize it until years later but, I received the most valuable lesson about building a network marketing business when I was only 10 years old.

As a 4th-grader in a small Texas town with not much to do, hanging out at my best friend Mark’s house would become the daily routine. His dad was a doctor, a very good doctor. And every evening he would spend at least an hour plowing through some of the biggest textbooks I had ever seen.

One day while waiting for Mark to come downstairs, I asked Mark’s dad this question, “If you’re already a doctor, why do you still read so many books?”

He had a great answer, “Because I’m a diplomat. A diplomat is a doctor who’s in the top 5% of all the doctors in his or her field.” He would go on to explain, “By being a better doctor you get better pay, better jobs, better everything.”

And that my friend, is the essence of “magnetic marketing”. It means, separating yourself from the crowd and accepting FULL responsibility for your own success or failure.

In network marketing, it means investing in yourself and making a commitment to learn the skills that others can’t or are not willing to learn. By doing so, you put yourself in a leadership position that “attracts” people to you.

Now I have to admit, I didn′t remember that valuable lesson until years later; after spending more money than I was making, after struggling to keep my small-but-growing downline motivated, and after a long and emotionally draining ride on the MLM roller coaster.

However, when I discovered magnetic marketing I realized that if I learned the principles that it teaches, it would mean several things:

* It would mean the end of “overcoming objections” and trying to convince people to join my business or buy my products because I would become the “hunted” instead of the “hunter”.

* It would mean the end of throwing away money I didn’t have on crummy business opportunity leads every month.

* It would mean the end of chasing away my family and friends.

* And it would even mean that the emotional roller coaster would finally come to an end.

Today, I generate all of my own leads for both distributors and customers. My prospects pay me whether they join my business or not. And, I don′t hesitate to tell a prospect “no” if I don′t think they’re right for my business, because I no longer feel desperate to recruit someone.

Now, I′m not telling you this to brag or pat myself on the back because it didn’t happen overnight. It happened over time. So take the time to learn and develop the magnetic marketing skills you need to build your own business.

There are however, a lot of different skills to choose from, but the ones I recommend most are:

1. Learn to do your own advertising on pay-per-click or ezines. It doesn’t have to be expensive and Google Adwords has a great tutorial.

2. Learn how to use “capture pages” to create your own leads. (ever wonder how the lead companies do it?) You′ll also find plenty of good information online about capture pages.

3. Learn how to use auto responders. You can free up your time by letting them do all the following up with your prospects for you. You’ll find 2 of the best at www.1shoppingcart.com and www.aweber.com.

4. Learn the art of “copywriting″ so you can create your own killer ads and write irresistible letters that pull in customers like crazy. Again, you’ll find tons of info online.

There’s no doubt about it, when you choose to apply magnetic marketing to your own business, you lift yourself above the rest of the crowd. But best of all, when prospects come to you first, your business becomes a heck of a lot easier and lots more fun.

Your Family Might Not See What You Have

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

For those who have just started, though it would be a repetition, let
me once again congratulate you on your decision to start your home
business. I am sure, like me, your family members too would support your
decision and would only motivate you in your endeavors. At times though,
your closed ones aren’t able to see the finer qualities in you. This
usually happens because they really haven’t ever seen you conduct
yourself in the world outside.

No doubt, they know you the best as far as your temperament is
concerned. But do they know you are a fantastic persuader or you have great
presentation and entrepreneurial skills? Well I bet, most of your closed
ones just don’t know the other face of yours. When parents, for
example, see their children perform on stage or the playground, they show
utter disbelief that their child could act so well or play so well! Well
not their mistake, there are so many activities that children can’t
pursue at home, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t excel in them.

If your family members show concern about your decision to move into
home business or any business for that matter, don’t fall into any
altercation with them, and that is for two reasons - firstly, they are
concerned because they care for you and don’t want you to suffer any kind
of loss. Secondly, like I just mentioned, they are so much unaware of
your own strengths and qualities that only you know you have.

In such a situation, instead of arguing your point with them, you would
do well to stay calm. Maybe take them along in your presentations or
seminars and introduce to them your new world of business. Your passion
and abilities would be seen by them and they would soon be able to see
you with the eyes of the outside world. Gradually they would not only
start supporting your decision but also would become an amazing source of
energy that you so much require to reach your goals.

I personally believe, if you have your family in harmony with you, you
not only fend off unwanted disapproval but also stay better focused on
your goals and daily efforts. Otherwise, the whole discord in the house
can become the cause of your business troubles.
So your first lesson on home business starts at your own home. Just
like you have to demonstrate your worth to your enterprise, you would have
to do the same to your family members as well.

My own neighbor has been successfully doing home business for quite
some time now. He is married with two kids and is into the business full
time. I remember around four years back when he had decided to quit his
job and move whole heartedly into home business, his wife had shown
grave concerns about his decision. I fully agree, she was being genuinely
concerned like any close family member should. It was then that I
suggested him to take her along to his presentations and seminars. By then
he had developed a good grasp on the business fundamentals and was
already making impressive presentations. His wife was only too happy to see
him so happy and energetic at his work for the first time and gradually
started believing in his decision. She not only became his supporter
but also an intelligent adviser.

Communicate your progress and problems in business with your family
members. You would be surprised to get some wonderful solutions to the
problems. If nothing else, you would only feel better by sharing your
achievements and shortfalls. The whole idea is to introduce your business
and yourself as an entrepreneur to them at a very early stage so that
they start believing in you and your work and don’t oppose you.

If you have friends who are unaware of your capabilities, well, you can
choose to go the same way with them too. However, I suggest another
treatment here – categorize them into your ‘supporters’ and
‘detractors’. You may continue to share your business progress with the
former, while the latter could be best avoided for that purpose or they
would only try dissuading you in your efforts.

That’s the best part about friends….you can choose them!

Network Marketing is Nothing but a Scheme!

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

When you say network marketing immediately the main stream
public thinks negative things, but truly network marketing is a
neutral entity. It’s not good or bad it’s just a business model.

What gives network marketing its bad name to many is both
simple and ironic. You see, network marketing is a form of
business that anybody with dreams of grandeur can try their
hand at.

Why?

It only cost $50 a few $1000 to get started.

Most people that start a network marketing business have no
experience in business. Their eyes get bigger than their
wallet and they go over board on the product and advertising
side of things before they learn the fundamentals of the
business.

This is a recipe for disaster every time.

Everyone knows someone that has lost there shirt trying to
take a shot at network marketing riches. When your loved ones
hear the words “mlm or network marketing” they want to shield
you from that same fate. Hence, network marketing gets a bad name.

What I want you to ask yourself is the following . . .

Is it really network marketing that’s bad or is it human
nature that’s at fault?

How To Work At Home Promoting Affiliate Programs

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

If you’ve been on the Internet any length of time, you’ve probably heard about affiliate programs. You may even have heard of the people who are making six or even seven figure incomes solely through the promotion of affiliate products. However, despite what some people may lead you to believe, making money with affiliate programs is not as simple as signing up for a program and then sitting back to watch as the money pours in. In fact, it’s anything but! The reality is, good money can be made through promoting affiliate products, but those who do make the good money have put in a great deal of hard work first.

If you are determined to go ahead and earn money through the promotion of affiliate products, then it’s a great idea to know where to start. Many people say that you don’t need a website to create an income through affiliate sales, but the best affiliates have websites of their own. If you think having a website is too expensive, think again. Most people who don’t have websites have to use paid advertising to make their sales (for example, through the Google Adwords program), which can add up to a lot of money very quickly. However, a website only need cost as much as a domain name and cheap hosting. To find out more about these, check out GoDaddy or iPowerweb (although there are many other domain name providers and hosting providers out there, if you’re willing to do a bit of research).

What if you know nothing about html or website design? What if you want to get started straight away and really don’t have the funds to get going? There is a completely free option to creating your own website without knowing anything at all about website creation, and that’s through the use of blogs. A simple blogger blog is free, easy to use, and you can get started immediately creating your own web presence. One of the best things about blogger blogs is that they also get spidered by the search engines quickly and regularly (especially Google, which owns blogger). If you don’t know what that means, that’s okay. It basically just means that your site is likely to get indexed by the search engines quickly, so people will be able to find your site when they do a search of the major search engines.

Okay, so you’ve got a website, and you want affiliate products to promote. You also want to know the best ways to promote these affiliate products so you actually induce people to buy the products you’re advertising! A good place to start is with Clickbank. It’s free to join, and you can promote any of their products. Of course, there are a lot of products to choose from! The best idea is to find a niche, or a topic you’re interested in, and create your site around it. Then look for products that fit into that particular niche. One of the best ways of promoting affiliate products is to do an honest review of the product you’re promoting. Of course, it helps if you own the product! Nevertheless, many people successfully promote products they don’t own. (And if you’re starting from scratch and don’t have the money to purchase multiple products then you’re probably going to have to wing it a little).

All Clickbank products have their own website page (the one any potential purchaser will be taken to when they click on your affiliate link). If you want to write a review of the product, that sales page is an excellent page to start. Most sellers do a pretty good job of promoting their products (if they’re at all successful) and you can use the benefits they’ve highlighted in their sales pitch to write your review around.

There’s a lot more to becoming a success as an affiliate marketer than the simple steps I’ve just outlined, but once you know where to begin, you can start pretty much straight away. Once you want more information, there are tons of books and resources online (many of which are free) which will help you in your quest to know more and become more successful.

One final thought: it’s all good and well to plan what it is you want to do, but if you don’t actually start implementing what you do know, you’ll never get anywhere. You can start affiliate marketing for free with a blog and a clickbank account, and many people have started on the road to success with just those tools; however, many more have half-heartedly made an attempt at affiliate marketing, but have quit almost straight away through lack of results. If you truly want to succeed, you need to be willing to put forth the time and the effort, and when that’s done, nothing will stop you!

Fiona Shearer-Hann is the owner of several websites, including
