How to Brainstorm Your Own Business Idea

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Before you can begin your own business, you need to come up with a plan. This article offers ideas on how to brainstorm your own business idea.

Every business begins with the same thing—an idea. Over time, ideas have been bought, borrowed, and best of all, brainstormed. Here are a few ways that you can brainstorm your own business idea:

Think About What You Are Good At
Creating a business that involves knitting custom socks is great—if you know how to knit. If not, it could be nothing more than a good idea gone bad. When trying to brainstorm a business idea, you should always think about your strengths. What are you good at it? What do you know about? Then, all you need to do is take your knowledge and turn it into a business idea.

Think About What the People Need
The best businesses are those born from necessity. If you are struggling to come up with a business idea, think about what it is people need. Is it a particular service? A special product? Whatever it is, if there is a need for it, there will be a demand for it as well.

Think About What People Want
When brainstorming your own business idea, let the world around you be your inspiration. Keep your eyes and your mind open to the current events on television, in the newspaper, and on the Internet. Think about what it is people want and like. In other words, don′t be afraid to read the market and cash in on a current craze.

Proper Attire For Men When Meeting Prospects

Friday, April 28th, 2006

It’s important to be dressed appropriately when you are meeting with your new prospects.

A good rule of thumb is to dress one level higher than the people you are meeting with. If they are going to be in T-shirts then you should be in a sharp casual outfit. This means wearing a nice golf shirt or dress shirt with no tie and a nice pair of slacks that are not jeans. Khakis are fine as long as they are not wrinkled. If your prospects are going to be dressed in a sharp casual manner then you need to be in business attire, which means a suit. If you don’t have any idea what they will be wearing just go with a tie. It’s better to be 2 levels up than a level below.

Some other good tips on dress:

When dressed in business attire always wear white or solid blue shirts. These are standard and look professional. Stay away from other colors like red or black shirts. They often appear less professional.Shoes should be shined. If you don’t know how to shine your own shoes you can often get them shined at a local dry cleaning store. Try to get them shined at least once per week.Ties should be a solid color or a simple pattern. Stay away from comedic ties or Disney stuff. They can be distracting and will take away credibility.Personal hygiene is a must. I know it should be obvious but make sure your breath is excellent. It’s a good idea to always carry some kind of breath mints or breath freshener with you.Clean shaven or very neatly trimmed beard is another good idea. Scientists and social experiments have shown that people have a distrust of those with facial hair so remember that it is best to be clean shaven, but if your must, make sure it is neatly trimmed and not too long.Hair should be short and neat. Again, experiments have shown that people view men with longer hair as being less trustworthy than men with longer hair

Each one of these ideas are critical to your success. It’s also a good idea to check out some of the other resources available at mlmachiever.com/” target=”_blank mlmachiever.com They have some good articles that cover the basics of building a solid network marketing business.

Home Based Business Fraud

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Most people realize that a lot of fraud goes on in the World of home-based business opportunities where business opportunity sellers purport that you can make all kinds of money in some bogus business scheme. In fact the United States Justice Department’s Federal Trade Commission’s consumer protection division enforces home-based business opportunities to make sure that people are not being scammed.

In fact many state and federal agencies have videos and brochures to help consumers and warm them what to look out for, but unfortunately very few people ever order the free videos or brochures. Home-based business fraud scam artists know this and they just keep selling their wares.

Some say home-based business fraud is running rampant, while others realize that there are a few bad apples in the group and that perhaps most business opportunities for home-based businesses are O. K. and a few are really good. Nevertheless, the government is going after the fraudsters.

Many people do not trust the government either and this is in another growing problem. If consumers do not believe the government or the FTC, which promised it would get rid of SPAM and work on identity theft, but unfortunately over promoted its actual abilities then perhaps the government is also misrepresenting themselves and therefore who can you believe? Consider this in 2006.

Profitable Affiliate Marketing Using Incentive Offers

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

The biggest companies want to sell their products and services on the Internet. One of the best ways to market their products and services online is by offering a commission to website owners. This is done by setting up an affiliate program where webmasters can pick up the links to offers and promote them on their web sites in exchange for affiliate commissions for each sale made.

Webmasters have many ways to promote these affiliate offers - on websites, by email, with pay-per-click search engines, writing and distributing articles, etc.

However, a little-known way to promote these offers is by using incentives to online surfers who agree to buy a product or service from the webmaster.

One of the best ways to market incentive offers is by building a membership-based website and giving free cash to members who agree to accept affiliate products and services.

Here are the steps for setting up a successful incentive-based website:

1. You′ll have to build a database-driven website where new members can sign up and start browsing offers after logging in. Such websites usually promote at least a hundred of various offers. You should offer your members about 50% of the commission that you recieve from an affiliate program.

One of the biggest disadvantages in starting an incentive-based website is that the scripts for running such program are quite complicated. However, if you don’t know Internet programming and cannot build the website by yourself, you can hire someone to create the scripts for you or purchase them online.

2. After your website is up and running, you should apply for affiliate networks that allow incentive traffic. When your application is approved you should set up offers on your website.

3. You should market the incentive offers not only on your website but by email too. Sending paid email to your members is one of the best ways to increase your profit. You should reward your members with a certain amount of cash for reading each paid email and redirect them to affiliate offers where they can earn even more extra cash by accepting the offers.

4. Since the incentive traffic is usually limited to certain countries, you should promote your website to the visitors of these countries only. The best ways to drive targeted traffic to your incentive-based website are: pay-per-click search engines, email marketing and affiliate marketing (by setting up your own affiliate program).

5. You should manage your website by setting up new offers, paying members their earned payments, suspending fraudulent accounts and tracking your website advertising campaigns.

Some incentive-based websites offer a point system. It means that members earn points instead of cash. Later these points can be redeemed for cash or any other items.

Incentive marketing on the Internet can be very profitable. Anyone can start an excellent home-business online within several weeks and run it spending only a couple of hours per day. It doesn’t require any complicated and time-consuming content writing for websites and newsletters. The investment in scripts is low.

Having a Home-Based Business With Kids

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

One of the great reasons to choose to work at home is to be more of a presence in your children’s lives. Now that two career families are a rule and not an exception, one parent’s ability to generate an income while in control of the home front is an asset. The Internet has brought us back home, as many profitable online home businesses spring up globally. But a great percent of these entrepreneurs now have a home office to add to the list of danger areas for the little ones.

As in the rest of the house, a good way to start a baby proofing is to get down on all fours and assess the area from that level. Seeing the room as your child does will give you your plan of attack. This height will contain most of your problem areas. Something as simple as emptying the wastebasket regularly, or installing or purchasing lockable desks and cabinets will save you grief.

Electricity is everywhere in an online home business office. Power bars exploding cords to your computer, your printer, scanner, fax, phone etc. This also brings hanging cords to all those devices and the possibility of them being pulled down. Plugging unused outlets is advisable as well as keeping cords neat and taped or tucked securely.

There is also the flip side of baby proofing. Protecting YOUR stuff. Backing up important data regularly on the computer is a good habit. The ability to lock the keyboard also saves random computer mishaps from roving fingers. This is also reason number two for lockable desks and cabinets, so that breakables can join the arsenal of scissors, staplers, punches, thumbtacks etc.

Good old- fashioned vigilance is still our best defence. Be honest about the amount of attention you can give and if that is sufficient supervision. Our children are worth getting help with if you need to give more focus to work on occasion. Simply locking the office when its not in use eliminates it as a worry in the family times.

The last tool is common sense. Ere on the side of caution. If it’s precarious don’t tempt fate. The same rules apply in the home office as the rest of the house. Fasten shelves and bookcases to the wall and so on. So, happy home working and keep our children safe!

One Up Pay Systems: The Alternative to Network Marketing

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

The advantages of One Up Pay systems are a strong alternative to many Network Marketing programs.

Most One Up systems are a one time cost. Many have no monthly charges adding up, selling quotas you need to meet in order to be paid, or shipping costs for products witch get extremely expensive in only a few months.
You get paid immediately so you don’t have wait until the end of the month or whenever.
There are no up lines or down lines in a One Up Pay System.
One Up Pay Plans pay high percentages to you per sale. Often around 80%.

The abysmal darkness before the light! It’s actually not that bad. This is how One Up Plans work.

In this example we′ll say the program costs $500. When you join a One Up Pay Plan program, you pay your enrollment cost of $500 directly to your sponsor. Your sponsor then sends a fee to the company, usually through an Internet payment service. In this example your sponsor’s fee is $100. Your sponsor just earned $400, 80% from the sale. What good is that to you? It’s not… yet.

When you make your first sale you pay $500 or your “One Up″ to your sponsor. You’re probably thinking, “Oh sure, That’s just great!” and I don’t blame you. Hold on thought, this is where a One Up system becomes a machine that lines your pocket.

Your sponsor signs release paperwork that declares you as an independent reseller. At this point you’re clear from your sponsor forever and you can resell the program.

“Ok, get on with it! When does this pay?” I bet that’s you’re thinking.

You second sale is where it starts to role in. Your new enrollee will pay you the $500. You then send $100 to the company via an Internet payment service. You have made $400.00. Get ready for this. The person YOU brought into the company owes YOU a “One Up”.

When your enrollee makes their first sale they send you $500. YOU then sign release paperwork that declares your new enrollee as an independent reseller. He or she is clear from you forever. You send $100 to company again. Another $400, and $800 is in your pocket. However, the new person that was referred to you is a new enrollee who owes you a On Up.

At this point your new enrollee gets their first sale, you have another “One Up”, and another $400.00. Your are up $1,200 on ONLY ONE SALE you personally made.

It gets better. Let’s say that you introduce five new people to the company. That’s $2,000 in your pocket. Each of them brings in five new people also. You resold the program only Five times and You have earned $10,000 because the course has been sold twenty five times.

Well, actually you would only have $9500 because it was $500 to begin with. That’s the disadvantage and I hope that this article has helped you understand One Up Pay Systems clearly.

Finding Products To Market Online

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

With so many products available these days it is sometimes hard to find suitable products for to market online. There are many products available from children’s toys to satellite televisions systems. Finding the right product is key to your business.

Make A List Of What Interests You

The first place to start in regards to finding the right product to market online is you. This involves sitting done with pencil and paper and deciding what exactly are you interested in. If you are a mom, maybe you are interested in things related to family life, children, shopping etc. If you are a single male, maybe products involving sports or movies might interest you. Whatever you are interests you as an online purchase, add this to the list.

Research A Product

Research a product is especially important when you want to find products to market online. After you have decided on what interests you and chosen a particular product, it
is necessary to research this product as best you can. If the product has an affiliate program, you can ask its members about how they feel about selling this product and if the response to this product has been good. It is important to note when choosing a product to pick one that has an adequate mark-up so you can profit from its sale. Also, it should not so expensive that no one wants to buy it. Call the vendor’s call customer service and ask questions about any concerns you might have.

The affiliate program directories and webmaster forums are great places to look to find products to market online. Usually people will place their comments and reviews about a
particular product, and you can read their experiences with it.

How To Market A Product

If you are interested in marketing a product, there are many options available to you. These include the use of online and offline advertising. Offline advertising includes making
brochures, and business cards to hand out or place on real message boards. It can also mean placing classified ads in the daily newspaper or maybe booking advertising space
into a regional magazine related to the product you are trying to sell.

Online marketing is quite similar. It involves placing classified ads on numerous message boards, newsgroups, e-zines and forums that allow free and paid advertising. They should as well be related to the type of product you are trying to sell. It is important that you stick to the
website’s rules about where and how often you can post your ad (free ads) or you might be banned from the site.

This is a general overview of some of things to consider if you are seeking products to sell. There are many good e-zines, e-books, websites and free online courses that
provide detailed information on the topic. Take the time to do the proper research and you will achieve success over time.

How to Overcome Procrastination

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Most of us have experienced the effects of procrastination at some time, even with the simplest of tasks.

Procrastination can manifest itself in ways as simple as taking too long to write a thank-you letter, putting off weeding the garden or letting slide the date when you promised yourself you’d start an exercise program.

Procrastination in our personal lives is something we can be aware of and deal with over time.

But if you are self-employed or running your own small business, procrastination can be fatal to your ambitions.

>> If you are a freelancer or a small business owner, you have to address this problem.

Your business and future depends on YOU, just the same as with an athlete, an actor or anyone else who depends on peak personal performance to make a living.

That’s why everyone who wants to be in control of their own future has to take steps to deal with procrastination if and when it appears.

Here are a few tips for people who work for themselves and find themselves putting off important tasks.

1. Improve your time management skills

If you find that you are using your time inefficiently, take steps to consciously improve your time management skills. For some this will include investing in some kind of scheduling software or service that will help them better organize their time and their tasks.

2. Create an environment in which you can concentrate

Some people can focus on their work, even if there is noise and chaos around them, others can’t. If to achieve your own peak performance you need privacy and silence, make it happen.

3. Don’t be unrealistic in your expectations

One stumbling block is when we aim for the stars and, if it looks like we’ll only reach the moon, we find ourselves frozen into inactivity. Be reasonable in what you aim to achieve. Break large tasks into smaller, manageable steps. That way, you can build one successful step on top of another, instead of being disappointed in your failure to achieve one huge task.

4. Try to put aside negative beliefs

One root cause of procrastination is negative beliefs about ourselves and our abilities. “I can’t do that.” “I tried once and I couldn’t do it.” If you have no belief in your ability to achieve a particular task, it’s no wonder you procrastinate.

In some cases you might be right…a particular job might be outside your area of expertise. And that’s fine. Where you need to address these negative beliefs is when you find yourself feeling frozen in the face of tasks that you really could achieve. Be aware of the difference. Question yourself.

5. Put aside fear of failure

This is related to the two points above. And it’s all a matter of attitude. For some, a single failure in their professional lives drags them down and they feel like its impossible ever to succeed again. For others, typically the most successful of all entrepreneurs, individual failures are signs that they are breaking new ground. Sometimes things work out well, and sometimes they don′t. This latter group views failure as something positive - a learning experience.

>> Finally, consider programs to help you with procrastination

For some of us, procrastination and patchy work performance is something we live with, work with and are constantly aware of it. And it gets in the way of the success we should achieve.

If this sounds like you, you might want to consider taking some kind of more deliberate and positive action to address the problem.

The answer for me lay in a hypnosis program. I was skeptical and surprised, but finally delighted by the outcome. For you? You need to explore options and possibilities that feel right for you and your own circumstances.
