How You Can Determine A Likely Internet, Work From Home Or Business Opportunity Scam

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

There are several ways that you can get an inclination of what is a scam and what isn’t;

(1) Lack of contact details

A lot of scamsters will try to hide their identity (or should I say their true identity?) on their websites. If a site doesn’t have the contact details of the owner i.e. the postal address, phone number, fax number, e-mail address etc, be wary of sending money.

Before you send any money, try ringing or at least emailing the person offering the opportunity. If you can′t get hold of him/her before you spend your money, do you think this will change once your money has cleared?

(2) Domain registration cloaking

Most honest and genuine business opportunity sales people will provide full contact details to the relevant registration authority. If these details are not correct, you must ask why. What does this person have to hide?

For example, in April 2006 a particular UK direct marketer sent out sales letters under one name but the website he pointed people to was registered by another person (as it turns out, a previous “alias” he had used which had attracted a great deal of criticism for past schemes).

Recently, several domains have been registered through a special service known as “domains by proxy”. This service allows the owner to hide his details from the public. This is fine for a personal site but if it is a site where someone wants a great deal of money for some “scheme” or another, be extremely wary.

To find domain registration details for top-level domains try who.is/

(3) Email rules

All e-mails originating from the USA and several other countries now must include a valid postal address of the sender at the bottom. Also, they tend to have an unsubscribe link somewhere in the body. Email spammers will ignore both these rules.

Even some legitimate senders also do not give full postal details. If someone is unwilling to put a valid postal address in an email, it suggests they do not want to be found by customers. If you see this, investigate further into the person and/or company.

(4) Ridiculous promises of wealth

If a scheme promises a massive income in next to no time with “no work” then it is very likely to be a scam. This is especially true of pyramid schemes where the whole scheme relies on members recruiting new members in order to feed more money up the line.

Pyramid schemes are illegal in many countries and usually end with the vast majority of participants losing a lot of money (and sometimes even facing legal proceedings).

The internet and email make it easy for anyone to reach the rest of the world with offers of “home work” and other dodgy schemes. Be careful to fully investigate a scheme before investing money. It’s often said but very relevant, “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”.

Home Based Business Pitfalls To Avoid

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

When you run a home based business, you are your own biggest obstacle when it comes to learning how to successfully earn from home. There are many things that home based business owners do that doom their businesses to failure from the beginning. Here are four of the most common mistakes.

Procrastination is the number one killer for the home business owner. Even the most profitable home based business ideas take work, and if you always put off the work, you will fail. You must have a plan in place to keep this from happening, and you must stick to the plan.

Another pitfall that home business owners, particularly beginners, often fall into is spending too much. You have to spend money to make money, but you need to carefully consider what you are spending it on. There are many free advertising ideas out there, so before you fork out the big bucks for Internet advertising, you need to explore more affordable venues.

A third mistake, which seems to counteract the last one, is not spending enough money. You do need to market your business. While there are free options out there, you may need to buy some business advertising as well. Just be careful when choosing what to spend your money on.

The last common mistake that you might make is failing to use targeted advertising. If you are advertising your business well, but in all the wrong places, you will not succeed. Look for advertising venues that allow you to place an ad in a spot where people who are naturally going to be attracted to your product or service are likely to find it. If you avoid these pitfalls, you will grow a majorenterprise.net profitable business.

Save Time and Money by Drop-Shipping: Prepared Lists Really Help

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

This is the age of the Internet entrepreneurs. You see millions and millions flock to the Internet each day. They easily understand the business potential and the low bar in starting a business website. They jump directly without much thought or research, contact one or two product sellers and open shop as resellers of the items. A very few succeed owing their success to previous experience or contacts they have. Many of them just fall into the bottomless pit of waiting for the orders spending money on pointless traffic sources. Nearly half of them finally figure out a way to grab the attention of the customer and finally manage to entice them to buy their products. There in the problem starts. They now have to figure out the best way to ship the item. Unprepared, they initially end up paying for the shipping and handling out of pocket for the first 10 orders. Tell me I am wrong, the author is a fine good example of this. If only we could present articles like this to them before they blindly start their journey to the bottomless pit?

The good concept that allows the home based entrepreneurs to try out various business methods without holding any inventory is called Drop Shipping. There are tons companies who offer drop shipping of their products. It is a win-win for them. In the reseller market the product manufacturer doesn’t know who the customer is. In drop shipping they get first hand information of who the customers are and also find good sales folks for free. The web business owner who signs up for the drop shipping also wins. If they are new to the business they don’t have to worry about shipping and handling. They need not worry about maintaining inventory. The established business owners know how difficult it is to manage inventory. The countless software and business intelligence products in the Inventory management tell the story about the nightmarish Inventory management. The best thing for the new business owners to do is signup for the dropshipping and let the pros take care of the delivery. Once they understand how things are done they can increase their revenue by starting to manage inventory in addition to signing up for drop shipping. Slowly you can finally manage to become a complete distributor or may be become a value added reseller.

Given the number of companies who competitively price their product for reselling and the various drop shipping methods they offer, it get real confusing to the new comer. The best thing they can do is purchase the hot drop shippers or manufacturer directories and ping each or broadcast for quotes. It is easier this way as it will fit the quick launching spirit they are in. Typically you get responses from 10-20% of the requests you send. This is more useful than the direct contacts you make. Here is why you will get better deals when you go through these directory purchases you make:

1. The product manufacturers know you are serious and not just collecting emails.

2. The product manufacturers advertise through these directories and offer the directory for premium placement and since this brings a constant stream of sales websites they offer a better deal than what they would through other sources.

3. Typically the pre-screening is done by the directories themselves hence they spend less time spending time to separate the wheat from the chaff.

4. Sometimes the initial consulting is offered by the directories hence they spend less time in finding best match services.

The above are typically translated into higher commissions for the seller. There is just one caveat beware of the multiple layer sale. 50% of the folks who claim to drop ship are basically middlemen who add one more layer of cost. Ask your directory supplier to do this chaff removal for you.

Here is one good and affordable directory of mydropshipperlist.com American Wholesalers, international sources and closeout sources – mydropshipperlist.com. You can also Google for Dropship directory to find other directories.

Pro’s and Con’s of Starting A Home-Based Business

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

Why would a person want a home-based business? More people today are asking themselves this very question. Working at home can mean a lot to a family today and it can be said that a home-based business is a smart and reasonable move to make today when just a few years back it was much more difficult to achieve.

Now why is a home-based business easier today? Well it has to do with a certain technological
innovation called the internet. Every day profits in the hundreds of thousands are being made from home-based businesses through this thing called the internet. Many people now choose to choose to stay at a home office because they fill they can do better or can successfully reach their goals in life. Of course like everything in life’s journey, to reach our goals successfully we have to Be Motivated, Stay Motivated.

It can even be said that starting a home-based business and running it successfully is not as easy as it looks. It does come with it’s own sacrifices. I mean you have to realize that at times you might be working more hours than if you still worked for someone else. That being said I don’t mean to take the fun out of the idea of starting a home-business I just want you to realize that it will take motivation and dedication to the task. Don’t you think that there would be a lot more
folks starting their own home-based business if it was so easy. How much you will earn can very well depend on how much you can learn. We need to ask ourself are we willing to make that sacrifice to have a successful home-based business. It will take a certain amount of skill and training for you to succeed on the Internet with your business.

As for myself I was 50 years old before I learned how to use a computer. Now today it is being taught in schools from the very early grades and by the time these younger folks graduate from highschool some of them could be even called Guru’s, But that doesn’t mean they would be successful in their own Home-Based business. There are many ways you can fail to succeed in starting a Home-Based business. Some of them being; Be sure you have the right reasons. We have already mentioned Motivation, Dedication and Sacrifice. Just to ad to those, as if Motivation, Dedication, and Sacrifice are not enough Right! You have to believe that you can and will succeed in the type of Internet Marketing you want to work in.

Be sure you realize that the Only Way to Succeed is Not To Quit. When you encounter failures don’t give up, instead correct the problem and move on. Remember if starting a Home-Based Business was as easy as it looked, a lot more folks would be doing it.
Another would be not doing anything about the areas of running a Home-Based Business that we know we are weak in. Yes this can lead to Real Failures! Remember you will the Boss, if you are having a problem in some area of your home-business be sure to take care of it. If you need help, ask someone who knows the answer to your problem. Don’t let it go!

The cost can be more than you planned for. It is true you can get into marketing online without much capital but if you really want to grow you business you will probably need to invest in it. You will need your own website, not just some fancy landing page, although money can be made with these.

I think you will need a real picture in your mind of your goal for you to have real success. Have you done all the planning, I mean if you want to be Really Successful you need a business plan. Such as advertising and a budget that will work. Are you fully ready to manage your company growth?

So what advise would I have for you at this point? I would say to you Go For It! You will not know what kind of problems you will really have till you get started building your home business.

With the advent of internet marketing there has come a multitude of business opportunities. Even if you just start working your online business part time, a Home-Based Internet Business is a excellent way to make extra income. Just imagine being able to turn that alarm clock off and sleep another hour if you want to. I mean you are the Boss remember. Now is a excellent time to start you a Home-Based Business online. There are many great opportunities for the Entrepreneur today.

As long as you realize that it is going to take real Motivation, Dedication and Sacrifice you will be on your way to success. Those flashy websites that advertise instant cash or riches in 30 minutes of work, Forget it, that’s not the way it works. Remember, how much you earn will very likely depend on how much you learn.

Operation “Rescue Me” - How to Regain Balance as a Home-Based Business Owner

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

Every once in a while, we as entrepreneurs have to burn the midnight oil to meet deadlines and go that extra mile to accomplish a specific task.

I’m always reminding clients and readers to make sure they remain aware of how they are allocating their time so they don’t create an imbalance between their work and personal lives.

All work and no play makes for a lonely, unhealthy and unfulfilling life.

This week I created an imbalance for myself and as a result, am now sitting at my computer on a Saturday night with one eye partially closed and a very tired mind and body.

Like you, I too get caught up with a project that demands a great deal of time and energy and requires uninterrupted, total attention.

Being a small and home-based business owner requires periods of intense focus and hard work and part of the entrepreneurial spirit is the amazing ability to do whatever it takes to accomplish a task when a situation warrants.

I stress the importance of maintaining healthy work/life balance, particularly as it relates to the day-to-day activities of the small business owner.

Even more so, however, is the absolute need to re-establish balance after the scales have been tipped due to a short-term demanding project or intense activity.

You know when you are out of balance. You’re energy is drained, you can’t focus, you aren’t eating properly, you are easily agitated and your zest for fun is gone.

As soon as you recognize these symptoms, make a conscious decision to take corrective action immediately.

The thing you want to avoid is riding the wave of overwhelm and imbalance any longer than you have to. Pay attention to how you feel and if you don’t like it, do something about it pronto.

Yesterday I completed the demanding weeklong task I had set for myself and knew I had burned the candle at both ends just long enough to start feeling burned out.

I recognized the effects of the imbalance I created and instituted Operation “Rescue Me” that will run for the next several days.

Today was get-plenty-of-rest-and-eat-only-healthy-foods-day. I did a lot of napping and when I was awake, I ate only raw vegetables, yogurt and drank a lot of water and fruit juice. Tonight I will go to bed early to put myself back on schedule.

Tomorrow is get-outside-enjoy-the-sunshine-and-spend-time-with-loved-ones day. The weather here has been absolutely beautiful and I missed a great deal of it while locked in my office for a week. Tomorrow it’s sunshine, a beautiful warm breeze and a delicious BBQ with family.

For the following several days I have tennis dates planned with a good friend.

To rebalance the scales, you need to incorporate physical exercise. You may enjoy walking, doing weights, yoga, cycling, table tennis … anything that gets your blood pumping and energy rising.

I enjoy yoga, but when I’ve pushed myself too far out of balance I need a good game that involves hitting a ball to get me back in line. Another upside to playing a game with someone means there will be a lot of laughter.

While playing a game of tennis or squash with good friends, it is easy to feel like a kid again.

For a brief moment in time, I forget I have a home, a business and family responsibilities. My entire focus is on not getting clobbered and making my opponent laugh so hard she can’t hit the ball back.

When we have nothing left to give, we head to the Dairy Queen for some soothing ice cream, sit on the tailgate of my truck and contemplate life and our dreams for the future.

Working hard is a part of being an entrepreneur. Working smarter and not harder is what will truly set you free and allow you to move mountains.

But, every once in a while, there will come a project that will demand more of you than usual and if you have the true mindset and passion of an entrepreneur, you will jump in with both feet and not quit until the job is done.

The important thing here is to not let the project become a long-term demand on you that will create an unhealthy balance in your life.

Set the condition that the task will receive your utmost attention and if you know it will create a deficit in your other personal accounts such as sleep, family and physical exercise, have a recovery plan in place to rebalance the scales.

What is one activity you do (or used to do) that made you feel like a kid? When is the last time you participated in this activity and what is stopping you from doing it today?

If you have been focusing all of your time and attention on your business and have not let up for air, ask yourself this …

What is one activity that I absolutely love to do that I haven’t done because I am so involved in my business I have neglected it?

Then ask yourself … If I were to do this activity today, would my business suffer? Would I have to close my doors? Would it make or break my success as a business owner?

If the answer is yes, it is time for you to realize that critical changes need to be made in the way you are managing your business.

If the answer is no, leave your office/shop/store, lock the door behind you and go have fun. Call a friend who enjoys the same activity you do and forget about your responsibilities even if only for a little while.

Travel Along For A Day In The Life Of A Professional Wildlife Manager Part 1

Saturday, January 28th, 2006

The alarm clock rang and I rolled over to see what time it was. It was 7:00 am and I needed to hit the road early today. My schedule was full and I wanted to catch an hour on the sun.

I made my usual trip to the bathroom to shower and then returned to my bedroom to get dressed in a nice clean uniform. I grabbed some breakfast and headed down the hall to my home office.

An early check of email and faxes showed just the regular stuff, with some junk mail thrown in, of course. I checked my voicemail and learned that I had to include another stop to pick up a raccoon that was caught that night. With 10 stops on the books, it was going to be a very busy day! I re-checked my schedule to figure out where to fit in this raccoon catch and penciled it in.

Heading out the door, I forwarded my office phone to the cell phone and made my way to the truck. I gave it a good look over to make sure all of my equipment I needed was on board and I was on my way.

The first appointment of the day was going to be an easy one. The young couple had squirrels in their attic and was tired of living with their “squirrel alarm clock”. I checked my map to get a good idea of where they were located and rolled the truck out of the driveway.

Traffic was a little lighter at this time in the morning, so I was going to be able to get to my 8:30 am appointment with ease. Or so I thought. About halfway to my client’s house, traffic ground to a halt and I needed other options. Listening to the radio, I learned that there was an accident that was going to snarl things up for another 20-30 minutes. That definitely changed things! It was time to get off on the next exit and navigate through some city streets. A quick look at the map gave me some options, but they were not going to be that good. The morning rush would be fully under way shortly and the city streets going into town would be jammed.

I managed to creep up to the next exit and made my dash to the side streets and a couple alleys to get me past the crash. I decided to get back on the highway as the traffic would now be lighter with the crash behind me. It worked! I was soon rolling uninhibited to my client’s house. Life was good.

I arrived on time with a few minutes to spare. Jumping out of the truck, I was ready to tackle this squirrel problem and get on to the next job. I rang the doorbell on a nice home in Cherry Hills Village, CO and a young professional answered the door. I introduced myself and he said his name was Ken. I asked Ken to give me the details of what was the nature of the problem and asked him a few questions. I told him I would be doing an inspection of the entire house and the attic and he said, “Help yourself”.

It was time to pull the ladder off the truck. I made it a point to never take the ladder off until I spoke to the client. You never know if they are going to be home or may ask you to come back at a later date. I guess experience served that one up for me. Sometimes people just forget that you are coming. But usually, they are HAPPY to see the Wildlife Pro!

I rolled the 28 foot ladder off the truck and took it over and leaned it against the wall. Eased it back and hoisted it up to the roofline. I grabbed my inspection mirror and flashlight and tape measure and was on my way up. About half way up, I paused to look at a beautiful sight. The rising sun was hitting the Colorado Rockies with such a beautiful hue that it was amazing to look at. This was one of the great perks of working outside. The great views!

I made my way up the ladder, climbed onto the roof and began my inspection. I looked at all the normal areas, the rooflines, vents etc., but couldn’t find anything. Hmm. The house didn’t have a chimney, so I was going to have to inspect around the rooflines from the ground and see if there was anything that I was missing.

Back down on the ground again and my perimeter search began. Nothing in the front of the house. I went around to the gate that was in the high wooden fence. A quick whistle for any dog that might be waiting to take a bite out of me revealed nothing. I opened the gate and continued my search around the house. Nothing. “This is not right,” I said to myself. It was fall and the clues were not adding up right.

I went back to the truck, grabbed my respirator and my 5 foot step ladder and headed toward the attic. On the way back in, I asked Ken at what times he was hearing the noises. He said “Early morning and sometimes at night”. Well, this inspection was going to take a twist, if my instincts were correct.

I headed to the master bedroom closet where Ken indicated the attic access was located. I opened the door and there it was, right up over the clothes and shelf. So, it was going to be one of those balancing acts to get into and out of this attic. I donned the respirator, turned on my light and eased the door open. The access door was set aside and I made my way up the ladder and into the attic.

It was a nice attic with high ceilings, so it wasn’t all that bad. It was fall and it was cool in there which was always a welcome thing. As soon as I stepped into the attic, the cell phone rang. Murphy’s Law. I let it go to my voicemail because you never sound very professional trying to talk through a respirator!

The inspection of the attic was humming right along. There were no obvious trails in the insulation, nor wiring or structural damage. Nothing. A closer inspection revealed small holes in the insulation and some small trails along the walls of the attic. Then the tell tale sign that I was expecting, mice droppings! They didn’t have squirrels in their attic, it was mice.

Now for the hard part, convincing the owners that it was mice when they were sure it was squirrels. Sometimes your clients are “the experts” and you just need to convince them otherwise.

I made my way back down out of the attic, closed the access door and retrieved my step ladder. I met Ken on the way down stairs and told him that there were mice in the attic. “Mice! It sounds like a herd of elephants up there!” I assured him that it wasn’t elephants and he chucked a little. I told him “Ken, there was no evidence of squirrels, only mice”. He was a bit relieved to know this and I told him what his options were. We could recommend a pest control company to treat the mice and then we could seal up the home when the mice were gone. He asked for the name of the pest control company, paid me for my inspection, set up another appointment for a later date and we were all set.

I loaded up the ladders, tied them on and I was on my way again.

My next “assignment” was a little old lady (from the sound of her voice on the phone and that fact that her name was Agnus) that had a problem with cats doing their business in her flower garden. It was not far to her home from Ken’s house. I checked the map for directions and was on my way once again. It was about 9:00 am and I needed to get a move on.

About 10 minutes later I was pulling up to the little old lady’s house. I liked working for older people. I liked to pick their brain about how things used to be and ask them questions they never thought would come from a 25 year old kid. To them I was a kid anyway. I stepped out of the truck and knocked on the door. She met me at the door with a big smile and said, “Are you the man who is here to get rid of those dang cats?” I said, “Yes Maam!” She took me by the arm and pulled me along to her flower beds and showed me what the cats were doing. I had seen this before and knew that she was not a happy camper. Nobody would like to be digging in their flower garden and uncover a pile of “you know what.”

She told me she wanted me to catch these stray cats and haul them off to the pound! I told her I could take care of that. I excused myself and headed to the truck to retrieve two cage traps. I set them up in the flower beds, baited them up well and set them. I test fired the doors to make sure they were working properly and reset them.

I went back to the truck and retrieved a service agreement and came back inside to fill everything out. The little old lady offered me some coffee and I declined the offer. Then she started to tell me how her husband would fix those cats if he was still alive. I assured her that I knew he would. Looking around the house, you could tell that there were some things that needed attention. She was a proud lady and was the type to try and do it all herself rather than ask. I admired her and her spirit. We filled out the service agreement and I asked her to call me when she saw a cat in the trap. She agreed and I was on the road again.

What is next on the agenda? Another squirrel job it looks like. Grab up the map and get my bearings and the truck roared to life. The next job was a bit further than the first job, so it was time to make up time. Let’s just say that I was going a bit over the speed limit. Just a bit. I made a wrong turn onto what I thought was the road I needed and had to pull over and get my bearings again. OK..I figured out what I did wrong. Back on course again.

I remembered that I had a voicemail in my phone and picked it up to check the voicemail. I received a message about another catch that was a couple miles back from where I was. I had to swing the truck around as it would be a long way back if I didn’t get this catch picked up now. Fortunately, it was a ground catch and I didn’t need to use any ladders.

I wheeled the truck around and headed to the house with the catch. I rolled up the driveway, jumped out of the truck, grabbed another raccoon cage, baited it and carried it over to replace the one with the raccoon in it. I grabbed the trap with the raccoon in it, replaced it with the empty cage and headed to the truck. I was thinking to myself, this raccoon must be 40 lbs! It was a huge male that had been in plenty of trashcans and bird feeders. I loaded him up in the truck, shut the tailgate and jumped back into the truck.

Okay, back to my third appointment. The owner was not going to be home on this one, so I had some flexibility in my schedule. I grabbed the map, made some quick decisions and was rolling once again. About 20 minutes later, I was staring at my next job. Earlier in the week, I had been to this house and removed a squirrel from the fireplace. They wanted a chimney cap installed and I didn’t have the size on the truck for this chimney flue. It was a big one, 18” X 18”. That is a big flue for any part of the country, so I had ordered in this cap.

The ladder came off the truck and I whisked it up to the chimney. This was a very wide chimney, but it only had one flue. I hoisted the ladder up against the chimney and rested it at the top, just above the crown.

The chimney cap was unboxed and checked for any damages. I searched my tool bag for my 3/8” nut driver and couldn’t find it. Great. Another snag in my day. I searched around for a minute and still couldn’t find it. I grabbed my cordless drill and pouch and low and behold, there it was, on the end of my drill! Note to myself; buy two 3/8” nut drivers!

I put on my tool belt, grabbed the cap and headed up the ladder. As I was slowly making my assent, I heard someone say, “Hey, can you install one of those on my home?” I said “Sure. Let me install this one and I will be down in a minute.” Great. I might have sold a cap, but this would slow me down in my already busy day.

I looked down the flue with my flashlight for a double check to make sure nothing was in it, gave it the all clear and reached for the cap. I put the cap on the flue and had to make some minor adjustments, then secured it down. I stowed my tools in my tool bag and made my way hastily down the ladder to the awaiting neighbor.

He was a neatly dressed elderly man. I walked up to him and introduced myself. I told him that I had a busy schedule, but I could do a quick measurement of the flue and I would see if I had one on the truck. He said, “Knock yourself out”. I brought the ladder to the chimney, hoisted it up and flew up it. As luck would have it, you guessed it; it was the same size as the one I just installed!

I flew back down and informed him that I would need to order it, as it was an oversize flue. I told him the cost and he said “Do what you have to do”. Sure was nice to not have to haggle over the price of a chimney cap! I gave him my card and told him I would call him when the cap came in. Threw the ladder on the truck and was on my way with a wave!

Okay, 4 stops down and 8 to go! The next two were to pick up animals, so I knew they were going to be quick stops. The map….hmm..Where is the map? Oh, here it is. Under the pile of invoices. I flipped through a couple of pages and found my next stop. Fired up the truck and headed down the road again.

Each and every job is new and exciting. I meet new people from all walks of life and see some pretty incredible things along the way. I remember meeting a guy one time that had a huge house. He literally had a big game room in almost every room in the house. There was an African big game room, a North America room, A South American room and it went on and on. He even had an entire elephant in his house! You don’t go to many houses that have a stuffed elephant in them.

I was thinking to myself how lucky I was to be doing the job I do. It wasn’t a job; it was a way of life. It was the neatest thing that I had ever done in my life. I was getting paid to have fun all day, solve people’s wildlife problems and make their lives sane again. What a deal!

The next stop supposedly had a skunk in a cage. There shouldn’t have been a skunk in that cage it should have been another raccoon. Great. I pull up to the house grab some bait and a sheet. I peek around the house and sure enough, it was a skunk. It was fast asleep, but that would change pretty quickly. There was another wooden gate that I had to go through. I eased it open and it had a sticky spot. I shoved it a little harder and it came open with a crack. Well, the skunk was asleep, but was wide awake now! I pulled the sheet up to my eyes and slowly started walking towards it.

This guy was already upset and started dancing around in the cage. The smell of skunk odor was in the air and it looked like something had been harassing this animal and got a shot of something it didn’t want!

I edged my way to about 5 feet away and it let loose. Luckily for me, it was on the sheet. I continued to walk up to the cage and laid the sheet over it. I slowly…ever so slowly, opened the cage door and waited for the skunk to depart. Okay Pal, the door is open, this is your freedom staring you in the face, and it is time to get out of the cage. I propped the door open and slowly pulled back the sheet away from the door.

He or she (I wasn’t about to find out) was now on their way out the cage. With this cage so fowled up, I needed to swap it out. I returned to the truck to get another cage, baited it and brought it to the backyard. I moved it to a new location away from the skunk odor and was on my way again after it was set.

I documented my paperwork and got caught up on the last two jobs invoices, checked my map and headed down the road again. It was nearing noon now and I was starting to get a little hungry. I searched for my hand wipes and cleaned my hands. I managed to get a lunch packed the night before, so it was time to grab lunch on the run. Some days were like that, but this day was busier than normal and I needed to keep on going as the days were shorter now with it being fall.

Have a Happy New Year — Five Tips for Avoiding Work at Home Scams

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Ah, the New Year is upon us, and many of us are ready for a change! This is the time when thousands of people turn over a new leaf and decide to start a home based business. One major downside to this process is the unfortunate abundance of work at home scams, cleverly disguised as legitimate home based business opportunities.

You can’t spend your whole life in fear, or reading every ‘scam watch’ website … so how on earth do you figure out which home based business opportunity is legitimate, and which is a work at home scam?

This article will give you five tips that will educate you thoroughly so you can quickly avoid wasting your time on business opportunities of questionable integrity.

Work at home scams disguise themselves as legitimate opportunities in a number of ways. Always thoroughly investigate any work at home opportunity before you invest.

Stay away from exaggerated claims. This sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many people fall for hyped up income claims. Work at home scams often make outrageous claims. If a work at home opportunity tells you that you’ll earn $10,000 in your first month, or that you don’t have to sell anything, that you don’t have to do any work, these are danger signs of hype. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Work at home scams prey upon the hope and dreams of others. Remember that there is no such thing as easy money or the secret, hidden business opportunity that will make you rich in a few weeks.

Avoid high pressure sales tactics. Work at home scams try to get your money fast! They don’t want you to take your time and investigate their opportunity. If someone tries to pressure you into investing in a work at home business opportunity without giving you the time to check it out, this is a danger sign that you could be involving yourself in a work at home scam.

Do your due diligence, check out every claim you hear with real facts. Work at home scams succeed because people don’t take the time to do the research required before getting involved.

Don’t pay to work! Again, this seems obvious, but many people miss the boat on this one. Work at home scams will try to get you to pay for employment listings, but true home based employment with a legitimate company does not cost anything. Any home based business will require an investment, work at home employment does not!

There are a few legitimate work at home job listings websites out there which provide resume assistance, listing, and other services for freelancers which require a small yearly fee to access their database of jobs and other benefits like medical and dental insurance. Any legitimate work at homes job broker will provide a full money back guarantee, otherwise don’t even think about it!

Thoroughly check the credentials of a company. Whether it’s a work at home job or a home based business opportunity, make absolutely sure you are dealing with a solid, reputable company. This is one of the best strategies for avoiding work at home scams. Check their company’s standing at Dunn and Bradstreet. This will cost a fee but is worthwhile if you are going to make a large investment or are uncertain about the legitimacy of the company.

Find other representatives or work at home employees of the company and ask how their work is going and whether they are happy with the company’s support. Look at the products you’d be marketing or services you’d be providing. Are they good quality, legitimate, and reasonably priced? Do they come with a money back guarantee? Are the product claims exaggerated, or are they backed by science? Work at home scams will not have these things in place.

Call the company yourself. Are they prompt and do they respond to your inquiries? Are they professional and courteous? Does the company provide you with clients or will you need to do the marketing yourself? Is their pay fair so that you can earn a good income? If you are doing commission sales, how many customers will you need to earn what you need?

Can customers get a refund if they’re not satisfied with the company’s product or service? Check with the Better Business Bureau. Though m Many legitimate companies may also have a few complains, disreputable companies that promote Work at home scams will have more and more complaints filed against them.

Are you paid to sell products? Some work at home scams are pyramid scams where you make money only by bringing in other members. If your only pay is from recruitment of other representatives, rather than the sale of legitimate products, then stay away! This kind of thing is considered a pyramid scheme and is illegal. A legitimate MLM or Network Marketing Business will provide you with a way to both sell products AND build a team of business partners. You will be paid ONLY on the product volume your new partners use or sell, not on recruiting fees paid for bringing new representatives into the business.

Avoid envelope stuffing and home assembly jobs! There is abundant evidence that both of these are nothing more than work at home scams which take your money. The envelope stuffing job is nothing more than some materials advertising the same job that you signed up for. You put your contact information on the flyers and the poor souls who reply send their money to you!

Home assembly jobs require you to pay for a kit of materials. You are provided some materials and then either required to sell the finished product yourself, or you are told that your work is unsatisfactory. Be careful!

In Summary

Look before you leap! Work at home scams take advantage of ignorance and emotion. Don’t get involved in any work at home job or business opportunity before checking out the company thoroughly. I personally make it a rule to never purchase anything that does not have a money back guarantee.

Trust your ‘gut’ instincts! If something seems fishy or questionable, investigate the opportunity thoroughly to determine if it is a work at home scam.

Don′t pay high prices for home business opportunity seminars, or training seminars. Some work at home scams involve attendance at progressively higher priced training seminars in exotic locations.

Don′t allow yourself to be pressured into making any hasty decisions. Take all the time you need to investigate a home based business opportunity, and research, research, research!

Work at home scams are an unfortunate fact of life on the internet. Your own diligence and careful research will help you avoid these and move forward into a prosperous and exciting new year, filled with possibilities for growth and new life.

Internet Business from Home

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Any kind of home business requires a lot of commitment and time. Unless you plan it out carefully, it can become quite cumbersome and time consuming. It will be good for you and your home business through internet, if you start out by forgetting the myth that you can earn through such an enterprise if you work for only a few hours everyday. Once the business is established and running smoothly, you can afford to devote less time to it but at the initial phase the going is tough.

At the initial stage you need to plan your marketing campaign, research your product and plan out and set up your website. This will require a minimum of two to three hours per day. If you are not engaged in any other profession then you should try and increase the number of hours.

In fact, it is often difficult to spend time away from your internet business from home since there is always something to do—from reviewing new products to gauging customer response and updating your website. Therefore learning to effectively manage your time is very important or you will be doing nothing else all day long.

Internet business from home like any other kind of business and requires dedication and hard work; but that is no reason not to relax and spend time with your family. Only when you can effect a balance between your business and family can you lead a happy and fulfilling life.

MLM Training- 5 HUGE Mistakes Made in Network Marketing Recruiting

Friday, January 27th, 2006

In mlm recruiting, there is a standard belief that you must understand. It is this:

We get paid to do one thing, and one thing only. It will determine 95% of your paycheck and that is:

Communicating with people.

I have said that before and I hope you understand, we are a business of Communication with marketing blended into it. With that in mind– There are 5 HUGE reasons why people fail in recruiting in network marketing.

And after studying and being in the industry for nearly 22 years , I discovered there is a pattern that I saw that developed with people who were struggling with their recruiting, which usually is the majority of folks. And I hope that you will look at these 5 reasons and see where you can change your focus and efforts to a more productive and effective style of recruiting.

Here are the 5 reasons for Network Marketing Recruiting failure:

1)The Distributor is not talking to people.

Yes, you read that right. Amazing as that sounds. There are many people who lead people to believe with their words that they are actually recruiting and talking to people, but they are not. They are busy at building a facade of an mlm business and never really engaging the conversation and contact necessary for success. Why? Fear of many things but that is the biggest reason. And how do you overcome it?

Find a recruiting partner who will help emotionally support you and help you whether it is your upline or sideline, and work with them.

Yes, there are folks out there who truly are talking to no one, as they are scared. If you see no action happening with someone in your downline, it may be a “silent talker.” In other words, someone who talks about recruiting, but is silent when it comes time to recruit.

You MUST communicate with folks if you are going to have success in the marketplace. Imagine — fooling yourself into believing you are truly working this network marketing business this way. NOT!

2) The Distributor is not talking to enough people.

This is an interesting thing. There seems to be a comfort level with people that says, “I have talked to “X” number of people, and nothing is happening, so that means I can’t recruit because this doesn’t work…” Again–NOT! I have said this over and over:

INFERNO Secret:

One of the biggest reasons failure occurs in Network Marketing, is too many distributors spend too much time with too many people who have too little interest.

Talk to a lot of DIFFERENT people. It amazes me that someone can say they talked to a lot of folks, and in reality they talked a lot to a few folks who have little interest — all because they don’t have to go out and talk to NEW people.

INFERNO Secret:

In recruiting, NEW blood keeps the heart of your business pumping.

Talk to ENOUGH people and talk to people ENOUGH but don’t turn them off. Go on to a new person, and see what happens with that person verses trying to force someone into the business who later will only leave with a bad taste.

3) The Distributor is not talking to the right people.

Wasting massive amounts of time.

That is what most distributors do when recruiting, and continue to do. They talk to the wrong people, and then bring in the wrong people and then have a downline of mostly wrong people.

Who are the right people?

People who light up and catch fire when you show them this business, and then light other’s up when they talk. Not someone who complains after only 2 days because the application is the wrong color, or the wrong size. Or the upline is not doing enough to welcome them aboard. 2 phone calls is not enough– you know the type.

There is what we call the “Recruiting IQ” and that helps tell you if they are the right one. IQ stands for “Ignite Quickly”. And if they catch fire quickly they have a great chance of being the “right one” to pursue in network marketing.

And here is a Secret:

To attract the Right One, you must BECOME the right one. You must become who you want to attract into this business through personal development and empowerment.

4) The Distributor is not talking right to people.

This is a business of communication and of verbiage and emotion as well.

INFERNO Secret:

A lot of distributors are simply saying the wrong things to the wrong people with a wrong message. You must talk to people with a YOU focus. it is called the T.I.N.Y Focus.

Their Interests Not Yours.

And you focus whether online or offline, on what interests them and do it Professionally.

Nothing turns someone off worse than a self focused and self absorbed distributor who is only focused on recruiting a person for THEIR reasons. Not the reasons of the prospect. And the words they are using reveal a lot…

“Me –me –I — I –me –me –I — I — me– me –I — I — me — you”.

INFERNO Secret:

You should say the word “You” at least 4 times more than the word “I” or “me”.

Exercise:

Here is an exercise. Try recruiting someone without using the word “I” or “me”. Use we and us and see how the prospect’s interests increases as you use YOU 4 times more than Us or We.

5) Talking too much to people you are talking to.

Some folks have diarrhea of the mouth. And they talk. And talk. And they talk. And then talk. And talk. And talk. And by the time they finish –the mlm prospect is finished.

Don′t “Dump″ on people! Create a RECRUITING ENVIRONMENT that allows the prospect to do most of the talking. Ask a lot of questions.

Listen a lot of minutes. Ask a lot of questions.

INFERNO secret:

Most people LOVE to have an audience, but they hate to BE an audience. You BE an audience of one, for massive listening to your prospect, and don’t create a “Sat Chat.”

What is that?

A Saturation chat–where they feel saturated with your words and info, and feel they have enough information to tell you…No.

If you are going to be a HOT recruiter, you must CONNECT with your folks. And the best way to do that is to become an audience of one. And ask a lot of “Magnetic Questions.”
If you do, you will find massive Success in Network Marketing and MLM

blessings…doug

Want To Achieve Success In Home Business - Follow These 7 Steps Now

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Prior to starting your home business, do adequate research to find the common mistakes made by others and learn to avoid the same mistakes. By doing this, the chances of failing in your home-based business venture will lessen considerably.

Below I have listed a few do’s and don’ts, a home-based business owner should follow to help ensure success.

1. Know exactly why you want to start the business:

I suggest you think twice before you start any venture. If your reason for starting a home business is to be independent and rich, well enough - you’ve got a good chance of achieving success.
There is no doubt that you can be successful if you have good products that provide useful benefits to your customers.
A strong desire to succeed in your business helps to get your venture started. But you also need fortitude, endurance and optimism to achieve the success you seek.
Do not get bogged down by mistakes. Remember you learn from your own mistakes. Instead of losing hope, work on correcting and avoiding the mistakes you make and succeed the next time.
Develop good skills in interacting so that you can deal with all types of individuals easily.

2. The need for strategy

‘Strategy′ is the keyword to having a successful home-based business. Like any other business, a home business requires proper planning. Many people fail because of a lack of proper planning. The planning should be methodical, as accurate as possible and practical.

3. Devote sufficient time to your business

Whether you are starting your home business part time or full time, make sure you devote a specific amount of time to your business every day. Make a weekly calendar at the beginning each week and don’t put off doing things until later!

4. A complete NO to pessimism

Having a negative attitude towards your business will take you nowhere but down. If you are optimistic about your venture, then you will overcome all the hurdles on your way to success.

5. Commitment is a requirement

If you are less than totally committed to you endeavor, chances are very slim that you will succeed. Every successful home business owner is completely committed to his or her business. Having a casual approach towards your business will contribute to its failure.

6. Build a website

In today’s world, a web site is very necessary for most businesses. Likewise, you must build a professional and well-designed web site that would showcase your services or products. There are many ways in which you can generate revenues via a web site, such as selling ad space, selling your own products, affiliate program, etc.

7. Forget the success factors

Remember you are the only one responsible for the success of your venture.
Don′t ever treat failure as an option. Just be equipped with confidence and determination and soon you will soar. You do not have to be a genius but you should keep an open mind about learning from your mistakes. You must also be able to take new things in stride.

It is absolutely possible for you accomplish what you want. You only need to be informed and focused. Don’t give up - remember nothing is impossible!
