What is Event Marketing and How Can it Secure You a Power Position in Your Niche?

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

If you’re not exactly sure what event marketing is, think of Earth Day, the Renaissance Faire, Woodstock, Shop Rite’s Can-Can Sale, President’s Weekend at Macy’s… and let’s not forget Valentine’s Day, that “Hallmark Holiday” disguised as a day of Love but really meant to boost candy, card, dinner and gift sales.

I′m going to be blunt with you here, hope you can handle it. ;) Event marketing is not just an excuse to cheer about something. Your motive in “inventing” and promoting a market-driven holiday or celebration is to gain new visibility in your niche, drum up excitement with your target audience, and ultimately increase profits for your business.

If you′re still a little guy just yet, you may have to wait on those cash sales until next year when people know you better… but revenue earned by way of new customers who notice you during the event counts as profit and makes the event worth the effort in the long run.

Generally, your goal is this: Position yourself at the helm of the event and drive mass traffic to the event so that folks develop an association between the event and your brand.

Event planning is a highly effective networking strategy in itself. In promoting the event and encouraging participation, you will become acquainted with many, many new faces and forge more solid bonds with old faces. In coordinating the event, you will learn who the “ideal” colleagues are to work with, and how your strengths can best be leveraged while putting other people to work on the tasks you find more challenging.

You may wonder how on earth you could possibly execute an event “virtually.” The truth is… with so many active online networks and Power Groups forming, the internet is possibly the simplest and least expensive venue for your “invented event.” Instead of a convention center, you have a “home base” website. Instead of live public speakers standing on a rented out podium in a rented auditorium, you have virtual “spotlight guests” on your blog or website. Your event won’t require costly shipping of hard goods and transportation, because your “trade show booth” can be managed from a website that’s launched once and remains live all year to generate residual traffic and help you rank better for the following year.

Who might want to join you in promoting an event, and what type of holiday or celebration could work with your niche? Basically, the idea is to just zero in on what your audience would find most valuable and attractive, in the celebratory sense. Following are a few ideas off the top of my head, but I’m sure that you can come up with something fabulous to fit your market.

If you sell gourmet pies, you could invent “Pie in the Sky” or a Month-Long Virtual Bake-Off. Complimentary vendors who might join your celebration: gourmet coffee distributors, Longaberger reps, companies who sell baking and kitchen equipment, folks who run dessert websites, other pie sellers (sorry, in event planning, you often have to deal directly with “the competition” but it’s so much fun that nobody ever seems to mind.)

If you normally target the “alternative health” or audience of herbalists, a health fair has the potential to lure potential buyers in droves and get them on your mailing list. If your website is focused around writing or design, you can hold a contest to attract fresh talent. I’ve come across websites where designers are encouraged to “submit entries″ which are then posted and judged, with prizes handed out. The creations are often very funny and a great way to scope out up-and-comers. Don’t forget: contestants should be encouraged to sign up for your paid memberships or at the very least get on your mailing list; otherwise the event is “virtually” pointless.

Planning an event on the internet requires someone with dynamic leadership skills, a good sense of timing, a solid “people network,” the ability to mesh with a variety of personalities, strong organizational skills, and of course- an expert handle on all the traditional means of online marketing.

Skills needed for proper event execution: website design, copywriting, email and list management, blogging, publicity, brand-building. If you possess these skills yourself, wonderful, but know there is an incredible amount of work involved, so getting backup assistance is imperative.

Necessary resources: web hosting, FTP (file transfer protocol), blog hosting, word processing, a good graphics program, numerous article marketing directories, several memberships to major web PR sites, a pdf creation tool, an advanced email management program (such as Microsoft Outlook), an online discussion forum, a subscriber sign-up form, file backup.

Network Marketing Decisions: Ask Mr. Kipling

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

I kept six honest serving men,
They taught me all I knew.
Their names are What and Why and When

And How and Where and Who.

These well know lines by Rudyard Kipling offer sound advice for many situations in life. They can be usefully applied if you’re thinking of geting involved in network marketing or any other type of work at home business.

WHAT can I do to make a profit?
Simply put, you provide a product or service in return for money. Don′t worry if you don′t “have″ a product - just get one from somebody else and then sell it on, or get involved in an affiliate marketing scheme. Successful merchants have been doing this for thousands of years.

You don′t have to make the product yourself. You don′t even have to own it. You can simply sell it on someone else’s behalf and then take a percentage of the profit.

If possible, try to market a product or service that is provided on a monthly subscription basis. That way you will get your percentage every month - residual income.

Do not get involved with any business that doesn’t have a genuine product and which pays you for recruiting others into the business. This type of arrangement is characteristic of a pyramid scheme.

WHY choose network marketing?
Network marketing, coupled with the power of the internet, is ideal for a start-up business. No premises are required and there are no employees, so both start-up and running costs are very low compared to a traditional business.

The internet can be used for both selling and recruiting and many of the tasks associated with these activities can be automated using websites, autoresponders, email etc. You also have the ability to reach a world wide market - the possibilities are endless.

Unlike many traditional small businesses, you can work your network marketing opportunity part-time to begin with. You don’t need to give up your day job until you’re good and ready, so the risk is very low for you.

WHEN is the best time to start?
The sooner the better. Start-up costs are low and much of your initial outlay will be covered by money back guarantees. Your risk exposure is minimal.

However, even if you already have some business experience, you should expect to be on a learning curve to begin with. So do your research, pick a company with good training and support, find a good mentor and get going. The sooner you learn the tricks of the trade, the sooner you can start to build your business and make a profit. One thing’s for sure - you won’t make any money “thinking about it”.

HOW do I identify the right opportunity for me?
Don′t sign up for an opportunity because it has a nice website or a good sales letter/email. Do investigate the six key criteria: Product, Cost, Company, Commission, Administration and Sales.

Make sure that you’re completely happy with each of these areas and you’ll avoid any nasty surprises.

WHERE should I set up shop?
Keep costs down by working from home. The power of the internet means that you can tap into the world market working from your spae room in your pyjamas. You can work offline if you want using leaflets, brochures, direct mail etc. - but don′t limit yourself geographically.

WHO should I be working with?
Obviously you’re the star of the show. It’s your business and you will enjoy a much higher degree of autonomy than would be available in almost any job. You’re not entirely isolated though, and finding the right people to work with is very important.

Pick a good company to work with. Ideally one that’s been around for a while and which provides good training and support. Selecting the right company to partner with will significantly increase your chances of success and minimise the probability of being scammed.

Most scammers and con artists tend not to stick around too long. They make their money and then move on before they get caught - so choosing to work with an established company is always a good idea if you want to reduce risk.

Another key player is the person who recruited you or introduced you to the opportunity. They may be referred to as your “upline”, “team leader”, “sponsor”, “mentor” etc. depending upon the company that you’re working with.

This person doesn’t need to be at the very top of the business. If they were then they might find it difficult to find time to help you. However, they should be experienced and willing to help. Exchange emails with them, talk on the phone and see how responsive they are. If they′re not right for you then you can always get involved in the same opportunity but with a different mentor.

Finally, you will build your own team or “downline″. Try to be a good sponsor to your team members and help them out as much as you can. Remember - just because you introduced them to the business you’re not their boss. Offer them advice and encouragement but don’t forget that they came into your opportunity to have their own business - just as you did.

Network Marketing Tools - What You Can Learn From Direct Mail Pros

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

One direct mail technique you should adapt to your MLM business is the “stick” letter. In direct mail, this letter would go out as soon as the sale was made, before the product shipment. It will become one of your most important network marketing tools.

The letter’s job was to make the sale stick. In MLM recruiting, of course, you get a high number of new reps with “buyer’s remorse.” They may or may not wish they hadn’t joined, but they sure don’t do any work.

This happens because in network marketing, you run into two types of prospect:

1. Those who are very self-motivated to join your opportunity and make it a success.

2. Those who aren’t really self-motivated … but they get in your process, maybe in your email follow-ups, and they just start moving along. Somewhere along the way, they get convinced to join. These new sign-ups are much more likely to fall off your group wagon than the very self-motivated ones.

You may well have a great opportunity for them. But they still don’t lift a finger to build themselves a lifetime income.

Why?

It could be that you moved them along a bit faster than they were comfortable with … and when they joined your company, they were still in a state of agitation. Which means “instant buyer’s remorse.”

Or - even if they are committed, even if they really want to be part of your team and what you are doing … just a short time ago, maybe just days or even hours - they didn’t even know you existed.

That desire to be a part of your team wasn’t there at all.

But they read your article or they got on your conference call and they talked with you and that desire went from non-existent to a very high level very quickly. And so now they’re excited and they’ve spent money and they’ve committed their time to a whole new adventure that they didn’t even know existed just a very short time ago.

Then as they sit alone and think about this, some will get that feeling of buyer’s remorse: “Am I doing the right thing?” Maybe they’ll notice they have 10 emails from 10 other money-making opportunities. “What makes this MLM deal any better for me than all of those others?” Without even doing anything, they’ll decide your opportunity is not the place for them.

That’s why part of your job is to inoculate yourself against buyer’s remorse.

Direct mail pros have used a “stick” letter to do this job. Adapted to MLM, you’d send out an actual letter immediately to your new rep:

1. What makes this opportunity different from all the others.
2. What makes YOU different from all the other sponsors.
3. The benefits the new rep will get from working with you.
4. A brief summary of the Action Plan you have to get them off to a fast start.
5. A description of how your team works together.
6. Maybe a list of resources you provide to your reps.
7. Anything else that re-inforces the decision they made.

For best results, FedEx this letter to the new rep. When you use richarddennisnetworking.com/ network marketing tools like this letter, you make your new rep feel very special, and you differentiate yourself from everybody else in your business.

Importance of a Good Sponsor

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

In the network marketing industry the importance of an experienced sponsor can not be overstated. Having an experienced sponsor who earns at least a significant amount of income from mlm can shorten your learning curve dramatically. When accomplishing anything worthwhile in life you never do it alone, you need help. Having that experienced sponsor to direct you in the right direction can save you countless hours of frustration, and lost income. Why is that? Because if your sponsor is successful they have been there and done that, they know what works and what doesn’t. They know how to get a business built otherwise they would not be earning money from their business.

The difference between success and failure in the network marketing industry is very little. Don’t get me wrong, it takes hard work to earn a decent income from network marketing. But for the majority of people who are failing in their business it is a matter of just changing a few areas, and tweaking a few strategies. If you are working your business primary using the internet and the phone, you might need to use a better lead capture page, change your auto responder series, change the wording in your advertisements, or change your approach when you get on the phone to contact new prospective distributors or customers. When building a network marketing business it comes down to a couple of things; recruiting new distributors and customers, and keeping your distributors or customers when your acquire them. That is all the business boils down to: bring in new business, and keep it for the long term. That is how residual income is built through a network marketing business.

Network marketing is a very simple concept, finding new business and keeping it. But getting to that point requires that you learn some skills, which is beyond the depth of this article. And those new skills are best learned from someone who has already mastered them, and an experienced sponsor who is profitable in their business can help you. Maybe your thinking, “If they are so successful, they would not want to spend time with someone like me!” Wrong! An experienced and profitable network marketer is always looking to take their business to the next level, and they know that if they just help enough people get what they want they will take their business to the next level. They would be thrilled to spend time with you, and help you develop the skills to earn an unlimited amount of money from your network marketing business. They will want to take this time to help you because when you make money, they make money. And the more money you make, the more money they make.

The Truth Behind Network Marketing Recruiting

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Now is the new age of the internet, and it has revolutionized
the way we all do business and the way network marketing
recruiting is being done. Many MLM distributors try to hype
people into their business, but that tactic is slowly becoming
obsolete as it no longer works. More Americans are
becoming accustomed to, and comfortable with, buying goods
online. For you as a Network Marketer, the Internet has opened
up new vistas for network marketing recruiting.

Trying to hype people into your MLM Company is no way to do
business. It is no longer about hype, it is about hope.
Hope for a better future, hope for more money, hope for a better
lifestyle. In your network marketing recruiting practices, try
a little hope, and leave out the hype. If you market hope, you
will see your recruiting explode. It is also time to explore
the world of online recruiting.

Online, you never have to worry about offending prospects, or
being rejected, or wasting anyone’s time. In fact the prospect
is coming to you, rather than you searching them. You become
the hunted, rather than the hunter. With online recruiting,
there is no need to bother friends and relatives, who try ever so
politely to tell you they are not interested, rather you market
your website, and the people that are visiting your site are really
looking for an opportunity. Once they have made contact with you
through your web site, now is the time to talk to them.

Online network marketing recruiting works the best, as the prospect
you are about to talk to has already expressed an interest in
your company while visiting your web site. Remember, your focus
when you do talk to this person. must be about them, not you.
Find out what they are interested in, their dreams, and goals,
then you tell them you can help them achieve these. You need
them to sell themselves, not you selling them.

Selling hope, and not hype, using online recruiting methods and
when you finally talk to the prospect, make that conversation
about them not you. These are three of the key points to proper
recruiting. There are so many more keys to proper recruiting
that have not been talked about here, but these first three will
get you succeeding. Remember, network marketing recruiting is
actually a skill, and with proper determination, and practice
anyone can learn it.

Online Business - Why This Is The Best Home-based Business You Can Start! (Part 3)

Monday, January 30th, 2006

6. Internet marketing doesn’t require you to sell your product or service in person!

For some of you, door to door sales and face to face sales interaction scares you to
death! Unfortunately, to make any money in internet marketing (and everything
else), selling is required. But fortunately…

You don’t have to get dressed, powder up your face, or leave the comfort of your own
home to make any money online. You can set up a website, promote it, write your
salespage (which is really your 24/7 virtual salesman) and sell your product or service
without uttering a single word to anybody!

Also, if you’re deathly afraid of rejection, you can finally rejoice. You can
be brutally honest to your prospects when doing internet marketing online. Sure you
will offend a few people and they will reject your sales letter, but you are not there to
receive the rejection! They simply close the browser, and you don’t receive the
verbal abuse!

7. You DON’T need to spend a decade of your life studying to obtain a professional
license!

If your true passion is to help heal people or defend other people’s business; then
spending ‘stupid’ amounts time (and money) to become a doctor or lawyer is great.

Now I’m not knocking doctors or lawyers, I think that they are a very hard working
and committed group of people. But what I’m saying is that if you want to start
earning positive cashflow in your first year, then internet marketing is the
best way to go.

Now if you already have a professional license, don’t kick yourself. Internet
marketing has helped thousands of professionals dramatically increase their business.

8. You don’t need insurance policies to haul your butt out of lawsuits!

After opening your professional practice for business, there are a few bad people who
hope that you make a mistake so that they can sue your pants off! For you to cover
this threat you need to buy huge business insurance policies that can rack up to tens of
thousands of dollars per year (depending on your business).

With internet marketing, you no longer have to worry about customers ‘slipping’ and
cracking their heads open on your storefront, or customers ‘accidentally’ spilling
boiling hot coffee down their pants.

Like I already mentioned previously, you can do your internet marketing business in
the comfort of your own home without worrying about those lawsuit-happy
customers roaming on your property.

9. You cannot get fired or downsized by a boss!

This is self explanatory. You are your own boss, and you decide when you sleep,
wake, eat, and play golf! No more kissing up to that doofus boss and asking him if
you can take 15 minutes extra for your lunch and your life!

You set your life on your own terms. And once you become an internet marketing
success and financially outperform your boss, you can rub your hundred dollar bills
in his or her face!

And there it is guys and gals, these are the 9 BIGGEST reasons why I think having an internet marketing business is the best thing you can do for yourself financially. With all these benefits, what are you waiting for? Get started!

Overcome Mental Blocks

Monday, January 30th, 2006

I asked the bell captain to call a cab for me to get to the train station for my trip to Ottawa. He replied that, with all the freezing snow Montreal was enjoying that morning, a cab would take 45 minutes to arrive! Shock and awe – what was I to do? I had meetings and a seminar lined up in Ottawa – carefully planned down to the last minute. I couldn’t afford to miss that train! Then I realized that the bell captain was still there, talking. He was saying, “But, Mr. Elliott, why not take the underground to the train station? It’s right around the corner, here.” In only twenty minutes I was at the station via the underground, saved money on the cab and enjoyed a great, relaxing train ride to Ottawa.

When he walked into the huge seminar venue in the Toronto hotel, he seemed pretty professional and successful Well dressed and groomed, poised, aware. He handed me his business card and I was impressed. Thirty minutes into my seminar, I asked the audience, “How many of you think this looks ‘Too good to be true’?” and the same man put up his hand. Shock and awe! It was hard to believe that this sophisticated businessman was, in fact, seriously handicapped by his mental conditioning. We all are. How many wonderful opportunities have we all missed, because our conditioning got in the way? We all have mental programming that hampers and restricts us.

The same goes for technology – I searched for YEARS to find a way to record sound bytes on my computer at home and then to e-mail them. It only took one e-mail from Member Andrew Cavanagh in Australia, and within ten minutes I had the solution, which has been working great ever since. We don’t have money problems, we have thinking problems. And the same goes for everything else. We already have whatever we want and need – it’s all in the way we think. Understanding that we have mental blocks is the first step on the road to overcoming all obstacles on our way to success.

Other people know things that we don’t know. They have different perspectives and they know how to get to the train station. The fastest way I have discovered to getting over, under and around mental blocks is by associating with a wide variety of Eagles through our DollarMakers Joint Venture Forum. Hundreds of ethical people around the world with a Joint Venture Mindset are available to help me to succeed in a win/win way. They have different frames of reference, experience, skills, connections, access and resources that are readily available. We help each other to see through the mental blocks and solve problems. Together, we can do amazing things. For more information on the Forum, I invite you to visit www.JVWisdom.com.

How To Run A Successful Home Business

Monday, January 30th, 2006

Most home businesses fail, because the owners give up. Here’s how to not be one of them.

Select the Right Market

It is far easier to be successful in an established market with a service or products that people already know and want. If you have a great new idea, you need a lot more stamina to get that going.

Research your market by defining a common problem that people face.

Build Your Vision

Your vision is a mental picture of the solution you are providing to your market. What do they feel like after they bought your service or products? What changes will it make to their lives?

Commit fully

After the research, commit and do not waste time questioning whether this is the right thing. Set a clear time-line and budget to get your home business going. Reassess after that time.

Stay Flexible

At the same time, stay flexible in how you go about your business. Having a clearly defined market and a vision of what to deliver guides you towards success, at the same time stay open to the different ways to get there.

Use Your Passions

You are the sales person. It is essential that you are convinced of your products or service. It will develop naturally as you get more happy clients over time. In the beginning it is a huge advantage if you are operating in an area that you are passionate about. That way your enthusiasm and excitement is communicated to potential clients.

Get Support

Working from home is often lonely. Make sure that you have emotional support from friends and family. They will keep you motivated and encourage you to go on. Business networks are also a great way to link up with others in a similar situation to discuss ideas and share challenges.

Know Your Skills

Running a home business means that you are wearing many hats. Be clear on what you are good at, where you need to get additional training and where it is best to use the support of others – subcontractors or consultants.

Keep a Balance

It is easy to work day and night when you are excited. Make sure that you take breaks, spend time with your family, socialize with your friends, exercise. Financial success will be worthless if you do not have a life left.

The Main Ingredient

Start to act. It is not enough to think about your home business. Do your research, make your plans; and then start the doing. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step…

Want to Know the Truth About Typing Sites?

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Ads for typing sites sound great. To many, they sound like the answer to their dream to work at home. But typing sites that require registration fees are questionable at best. Almost all the work consists of advertising for the site in one form or another. The site may want you to place small, pre-written ads at classified sites or ezines. It may want you to send out safelist e-mails or surf at traffic exchanges. (Not sure how this relates to typing, except that you do have to type your name and password to log in). Not only is this work very time consuming, typing sites also require elaborate reports on where you placed your ads. The reports usually require even more time than the actual ad placing. By the time you complete the work, (if you are able to….most people give up in frustration), you have literally earned pennies per hour.

A sample assignment may ask you to place 400 ads at non-cgi classified sites. (No BeCanada sites allowed). The ad must run for 30 days, and you can only post one ad per month per site. (Ad blasters will be of no use to you). In addition, the assignment will want each ad that you placed to be copied into a report - along with the ad number, the ad’s duration, and the section of the classified site that you posted to. If you can complete this ridiculous assignment, you will be paid $40! Wow! And if you’re lucky, it will only take about 100 hours! That’s .40 cents an hour!

What is amazing to me, is that there are actually a few people who do it!

With that said, there are people who are making $200 to $300 a week at typing sites. But it’s not in the work…it’s in the referral commissions. People who are good at finding signups, and have no qualms about referring people to a typing site, can earn money at one. The problem is, would you feel comfortable referring someone to a site that many consider to be a border-line scam?

I guess there are some limited situations where I would “RESERVEDLY″ recommend a typing site. If someone lived in an area where there were no jobs. And I do mean NO JOBS. If someone was on a fixed income, and an extra $50 to $300 a month could be the difference between eating and not eating, I might recommend a typing site. But then they′d run into another problem, coming up with the 1000 “approved” classified sites that they′d need to make a modest go of it. And finding the “approved” classified sites can take months. But even taking the above circumstances into consideration, I know you can do better than typing sites.

I can say one good thing about typing sites. Most of the typing sites that I am familiar with pay…if you can complete the assignments, or find some poor soul to join you in one.

Build A Home Internet Business - A Dream?

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Do you still believe that to build a home internet business is a dream?

You need to wake up from the dream. This dream has now become a reality for many ordinary people.

Even in a tiny red dot country where I am from, there are home grown internet millionaires who are very ordinary people whom are not sought by people to coach and train them to achieve this dream.

Ten years ago in 1997, you could still be thinking to build a home internet business is a dream and most of your folks will think you are sane.

Ten years later in 2007, to say that to build a home internet business is a dream. Well, there are still some people who are skeptical about this whole new vehicle.

BUT, there are more evidence and people are starting to become curious.

People are curious because more people are talking about it. And from the extreme of ages are also tapping on the internet to leverage off some spare cash.

Trust me, I have seen a primary school student to a 60-70 year old retiree attending seminars on wealth creation on the internet.

If you are reading this article right now, you want to just give yourself a benefit of your doubt and do not believe what I say and just go ahead and do your own research

on the internet.

You will find that there are many people from all around the World. People who are ordinary, with no special knowledge. And with just a simple idea and a little persistence and learning. You can create a small business online and if you do it right and learn from the right mentors. You are well on your way to earning some side income and very soon you can fire your boss!

If you are working full time now, do this and you will be building your fortune part time. When you are comfortable, you can always opt to build your fortune full time.

The dream to build a home internet business is now a reality for you. Reach out for it.
