Home Business Myth Busting : “You Will Make Money Right Away”

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

The prospect of a home business sounds interesting to most people. For the ones that take action on their intrigue, a multitude of choices await them. They spend time wading through potential offers until one strikes them as exciting, legitimate, and bears that familiar home business lure, “You will make money right away!” Then begins their voyage of owning a home business. They get familiar with their products, services, or whatever else is a part of their business. They setup a home office so that they can start putting their business in motion. Does this sound familiar? This scenario is probably close to the one you have gone through. You have been through the selection process, the introduction guides, and the offices setups. Plus, you have probably experienced something else that every beginning home business owner has: the situation where you have no real income from your business even though you have done everything the company you signed up with has told you to do. Frustration sets in and you start to worry about what you will do next.

When frustration starts to mount, it is not time to give up the ship. It is time to examine your frustration. So, why are you frustrated? First, you know your business will take off if you can just get it rolling. Next, the company you are signed up with has not given you the tools to earn the income you wanted. Lastly, you know that there is a way to get your business of the ground but you just can’t seem to get your hands on it. Do not feel ashamed or embarrassed about the setback you are facing, this has happened to even the most successful people. But what makes the difference between successful people and everyone else in business is that the successful people have found the next step in their business evolution. They have not only found the next step but hey have pulled themselves to that step and moved beyond.

So what is the next step?

The next step is busting through the starry eyed “You will make money right away” myth and realizing the true secret behind successful home businesses, which is: Effective Marketing. Effective marketing is gaining the largest amount of exposure to your target audience for the lowest amount of your advertising dollar. This may sound simple but, it is the most forgettable point about owning a home business. Most people get excited about selling their product to 50 people but forget to realize that they spent more on bringing in those customers than they actually get from selling to them. The ways to market effectively come down to very simple concepts but are as varied as there are marketers. It is up to the individual marketer to use those concepts that are readily available and turn their business into a vehicle that can gain them financial freedom through effective marketing.

Network Marketing Problem - Are Your Downlines Leaving You?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

First of all, let’s take a look at your effort to maintain a good communication with your downlines. How often did you contact them? How well did you know them personally? Did you ever ask them about their dreams? Did you share with them?

If your answer is no, no, no and no, then you’re in a big trouble. Even if you have a yes, yes, yes and no for the answer, still you won’t stay long in the business for sure!

Communications between upline and downlines plays an important role in Network Marketing. Contact them at least once a week just to say hello and ask them how they are doing. Offer your help to them. Tell them motivational stories. They will love your kind attention.

Tell your downlines what you are up to so they know your plans and strategies. Share your ideas with them and don’t be afraid to share your secret strategies also. This way they will be able to duplicate those strategies and learn a lot from you.

Secondly, do call some trainings for your downlines on a regular basis. Make sure they understand what to do and how to do it correctly. This is crucial if you still want to keep them in your Network Marketing organization.

Finally, could you recall how exactly did you approach them?

Did you tell them that they could earn big money without doing anything? No wonder they do nothing but just sit around and wait to see the check coming…

Did you tell them that they would succeed without spending a dime? That explains why they don’t advertise professionally…

Did you also tell them that they would get rich quickly through your Network Marketing program? That’s why they are not persistent enough to hang around…

OK, now what if you did the right thing - you’ve built good communications with your downlines, you’ve made training calls regularly for them and you did approach them with no hypes nor gimmicks from the beginning– but they still quit?

Then they are just not who you are looking for to build your Network Marketing business with. You don’t need them. Believe me.

Open Your Eyes!

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

My family was very much like the typical family you would find anywhere. Dad, Mom, two kids making just enough money to keep a roof over our heads and take care of our bills. We had no savings to speak of and wanted to be able to take vacations whenever we wanted. You can’t do that when you are living hand to mouth. If you don’t work, then you don’t make money, then you can’t pay your bills.

I decided it would benefit us all if I could earn some extra money online. Every time I would go online, I would be bombarded with emails or ads that said I could make money with no experience. I just needed to invest in this program that would teach me all I needed to know.

When we had a few extra dollars, I would buy one program or another that promised I could be making money in no time. At first, I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t making any money. Every ad I saw told me that I could make a ton of cash without having much knowledge and without doing much work. They all seemed to have the answer for a mother with a toddler, preteen and a husband plus household, parenting and marital duties.

After years of failure, it dawned on me that the reason for that failure was mine. If I had not been lulled into believing I could make money without putting forth an effort, then I would have seen this sooner. All the money making gurus were getting rich on my greed. I kept looking for the easy answer. The easy answer was being promoted all over the internet.

I will let you in on a little secret, if the easy answer was the real solution, it wouldn’t be all over the internet. The person who had the real solution would keep that information to themselves. If you give it away, your knowledge no longer has any profitable value. That meant that I was not getting the actual answer to my problems by buying all these “get rich quick or overnight” schemes. What I was getting was not meant for someone with my level expertise with online businesses.

Most of the programs out there that say they are made for the beginner, give you a lot of information that is really over your head if you are just starting out. We usually jump in feet first with our heads in the clouds. We have no clue what we want to accomplish with our business, let alone what our business is. We purchase this program hoping it will give us direction, but it usually ends up confusing us. That leads to inaction. No action leads to no money.

Some give up and never try to start their own internet business again. Others rush to buy the next best program, thinking they made a mistake in choice. Others follow the steps they don’t understand and lose more money. Then those go looking for another quick fix that states it is better than the program they already have and promises more money.

It can be a vicious cycle. The cycle will never end until the person realizes that you will not make money on the internet without putting forth some kind of effort. You will not be required to spend huge amounts of money to get your business started, but you will expend a large amount of your time. You will need to learn and research what ever business you choose to start. You will have to be very selective about where you invest your money. Take the time to invest in yourself and learn before you start your business. If you have already started and haven’t made any money, then you need to put things on hold until you have learned what you are doing wrong. You don’t have to worry about your business failing, it already is.

Home Business Success With Bulk Wholesale Suppliers

Monday, May 30th, 2005

Big companies with decent brand name products are hard for any home business manager to scout. You can find drop shipping suppliers at nearly every corner you turn on the web. The reason for this is simple as you will notice that you can hardly find any bulk wholesale suppliers.

The number one reason for this is that most people who have contacts with a bulk wholesale supplier will build membership sites and offer their own drop shipping services in an attempt to sell more products from their inventory. This is a rip off for any home business because if you use drop shipping services, chances are that you are buying from someone who buys products from a bulk wholesale supplier and marks them up which makes it harder for you to sell.

You need to be buying at the same price as the person buying the products from the bulk wholesale supplier to be able to compete in the market place, to sell more products, and to turn a higher profit. Home business success starts at the supply and demand curve, so unless you are buying products from a bulk wholesale supplier and stocking your own inventory, chances are your profit margin is very small and your drop shipping supplier is the one making the real money for all your hard work.

Product sourcing research is a very dark road for most running a home business. Finding quality name brand products and rock bottom prices is key to a successful home business. You can find out more about product sourcing bulk wholesale suppliers along with light bulk wholesale suppliers from my website.

Light bulk wholesale suppliers can offer any home business a decent benefit to obtaining great brand name bulk wholesale products at a very low minimum order. This is ideal for anyone selling a few products on auction sites.

Working with a bulk wholesale supplier will really give you room to grow. Being able to compete in the internet’s heavily saturated market is important. Buying from a bulk wholesale supplier is essential to home business success.

Taking Yourself Seriously

Monday, May 30th, 2005

So, you’ve taken the plunge, bitten the bullet, leapt out of the aeroplane and decided to fly solo. Congratulations! Making that decision means you are committed to taking control of your life and living it on your terms. You have begun a journey, the destination of which will depend on what you do next.

Be aware that when adopting the title of “Solo Home-Based Business Operator” it can be tempting to drop the business part of the description. Suddenly we “work from home”, “do a bit of graphic design” or perhaps, “write stuff”. Aren’t we a humble lot?

You may find - as a soloist - with your office in the spare bedroom/store room, kitchen table or a corner of the garage, it can be difficult to convince people to take you seriously. Guess what? They don’t have to. Read that again. They don’t have to! It’s true. Whether you have a full-time home office or simply a part-time dedicated workspace, the only person who absolutely has to take your business seriously is YOU.

“But,” I hear you ask, “if that’s the case, how will I persuade anyone to use my services or buy my products?”

The answer’s quite simple - you don’t. By taking your work seriously, all you have to do is seriously work. Whether your client list is huge or ‘developing’, keep on working. Consider adjusting your marketing strategies to reflect how serious you are. Everything from your website, logo and stationery to your email signature and voicemail message should illustrate how professional, competent and downright serious you are.

If business is quiet right now, seriously work your marketing plan. If friends call to go shopping while you’re halfway through a sales letter, tell them sweetly that you’re working. If the telemarketer calls while you’re drafting content for your Home Page, don’t be impolite. Simply tell him that now is not a good time because you’re working. Better still, turn the answering machine on or take the phone off the hook for an hour and let your voicemail show the caller how serious you are.

The point is this: the more seriously you take your business, the more successful it will be.

“But I do take my business seriously.” I hear you lament. That’s great. Are you sure? Consider this:

- Do you have set hours during which to work your business?

- Do you work on your business during those hours with or without clients? Remember that the quiet times are opportunities to kick-start your marketing and business strategies.

- Is your phone answering technique during these hours home-like or business-like?

- Is your workspace, regardless of its size, organised and clutter-free?

The more you demonstrate how serious a player you are in your field, the more business you will attract.

So, get real, get creative and, most importantly…. GET SERIOUS!

Home Business; Free Hosting Versus Paid For Your Website

Monday, May 30th, 2005

The thing about free hosting and free auto responders is, you will likely have to put up with a lot of advertising (not your own) put there by the host. This is also why I don’t believe in banner exchanges. You are working hard enough to get folks to your business, and just getting them there is only part of the work. There is a well known axiom of Internet Marketing that says over 95% of your visitors will NEVER buy anything from your website on their first visit. It often takes not 4, not 5 but SEVEN exposures before they make their purchase. This goes for E-mail campaigns as well. You must follow up!

(What a pain!) Yes, this is a lot more difficult than it sounds.

For one thing, you must not SPAM, and even if you have legitimate leads, you must
observe net etiquette, and allow them to opt-out from your mailings.

This is where an autoresponder will meet the needs, as one of the essential tools of Internet Marketing.

As far as making your own web-pages goes, there are again, several ways you can do that. If you know HTML, you can use any number of programs.

But you don’t have to know HTML, to make your own web-pages. Many hosting services provide templates you can use to easily create your own. To be fair, your own ISP probably offers such a service.

Having your own domain name makes it easier for people to remember the address of your site and also enables search engines to pick it up more effectively.

If you are involved with affiliate marketing, it’s a good idea to get your own domain and set-up your own website, rather than just rely on the affiliate web pages that you get with the program you’ve signed-up for. Here’s why;

Your affiliate URL looks something like this
www. The_Name_of_the_Company/referrer=yourID#

The part at the end, after the / is you. This last part is how your company tracks sales that you have made and guess what? If you advertise, nine times out of ten, anyone seeing your ad will just go to a search engine and type in the company name, leaving off the last part which is the important part to you. Then you’ve just lost a sale and are out advertising expenses. Many search engines will also not accept these long affiliate URLs, or, again, will drop-off the last part.

How Do We Start Making Money Online?

Monday, May 30th, 2005

How do we find the best starting point so we can start making money online? The key is knowing exactly how the internet works.

We get told that we can start making money online by the “gurus” who make it sound like it is just as easy as clicking your mouse and money appears in your bank. My aim was to find out if there were any genuine ways to start making money online.

Ways to start making money online are advertised amongst thousands of websites, was it actually easy though? Could I do it? Was it easy?

This is what I found out, as expected, most of these opportunities that offered to help me start making money online lacked general honesty, they want you to pay more once you pay the original fee and as you could imagine, they didn’t care if you actually made money online, they just wanted you to part with your hard earned money.

There are actually some legitimate ways to start making money online, but finding them was hard, I’ll be honest. There are some honest individuals who run genuine, friendly, home based business systems that are aimed at helping ordinary people make money online, amongst the large number of bogus sites. Nick Marks runs a friendly, honest home based business site, with a large amount of success stories, I found Nick Marks to be one of the only individuals that ran an honest service that did generally help people make an additional income online. You check the system ran by Nick Marks dontworryagain.com Here.

The key to making money online is undoubtedly finding the correct starting point and to be honest, most individuals offer bogus starting points to start making money online, with information that we do not benefit off, it is easy to make money online if you have a professional giving you an easy guide and helping you along the way, this is the crucial thing to succeeding. I found this out after years of research and to be honest with you, I didn’t think it was possible to make money online, but I did realize that some people do genuinely help you succeed.

I created an Honest Home Business Opportunities reviews page, based on finding the legitimate home based business opportunities.

I wish you the best of luck in finding the right home based business opportunity for you.

Keys To A Profitable Home Based Business

Sunday, May 29th, 2005

The key to success in any business is profitability. Any business can operate indefinitely as long as it is profitable. Few businesses start at a profit, so the goal for any business owner is to move towards profitability as quickly as possible.

To build a profitable home based business, focus on these simple keys:

Focus on business growthBe judicious with your expensesFocus on your core offeringOne of the most important keys to building a home based business towards profit, is to focus on moving towards growth. Your mindset determines your results. If you focus too much on not being profitable yet, you’ll stay right where you are. If you focus on growth, you’re far more likely to notice opportunities for gain and far more likely to take action on those opportunities.

To get started, and operate your business, you will have some necessary expenses. You will need an advertising budget, a phone line, office supplies, and so on. Without these, you won’t be able to operate your business, so don’t restrict those expenses just because you’re not profitable yet.

On the other hand, there are many expenses you may not need. They do not contribute to the growth of your business and only serve to consume your cash. If you’re still moving your business towards profitability, consider your expenses carefully and choose things that actually contribute to growing your business.

Restricting your expenses can only take your business so far. Profit requires income. To develop any business, you need to promote it. That word is scary to some people but it simply means to make known.

By making people aware that you are in business, people can do business with you. This may seem obvious but many people who struggle with success in a home based business do not spend enough time promoting it.

If you have more than one product to promote, consider focusing on a main product as you promote your business. You can always educate your customers about your other products later on. By doing this, you will be more agile in your business and able to be more effective in your actions.

If you’re still looking for a home based business, just getting started or have been working at it for a while, it’s never too early or too late to focus on moving in the right direction. By operating your home based business with these three keys in mind, you will be in a great position for success.

Dave Saunders has been helping people build successful home based businesses since 2003 and loves to help others live their dreams through profitable home businesses.

Offering a Layaway Plan in Direct Sales

Sunday, May 29th, 2005

Have you ever had a potential customer say “oh I’d love to buy that but I can’t afford it?” Most of us are taught to overcome that objection, to prove the worth or value of the product. However if the buyer truly can not afford the product, then no matter how convincing we are, a sale is not going to be made.

Have you considered offering a layaway option to those customers who can not afford the item right now? Many years ago, most major retail chains offered a layaway plan. Due to the cost of maintaining these programs, most stores did away with the layaway option. This is your chance to offer what the retailers don’t.

Write up the receipt for the product (s) that your customer wants and then set out the terms. Perhaps their order is $100 and they want to pay $20 per month, over 5 months. Why not accept this? In the end, you’ll have your $100 sale, they’ll have their products, and you’ll have a customer.

Remember, you are not a bank. If the customer comes to you wanting their money back, you are not a bank. When you write up your receipt be very clear there will be a $20 fee for any cancelled transaction.

Depending on the product (s) you sell, you may be able to order the product (s) 5 months down the road, once they are paid for. If you do have to order the product (s) up front, then again, on your receipt be very clear that if a payment is missed, the items will be sold and no money will be returned.

Usually customers are grateful for this service and you’ll get the $20 each month as promised.

Offering layaway to customers is a wonderful way to make yourself stand out as being different and unique.

Try advertising this service and watch your customer base grow.
