How To Break Through The Biggest Barrier To Your Success

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Let’s face it, we all have different challenges in this industry. Yet, the biggest
barrier to finding the success we truly desire is the same for all of us.

Yes, it’s true.

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever wondered why some people join a
business opportunity but can never seem to get going? Well I can assure you,
it’s not from a lack of training, upline leadership, or even belief in the product
or service.

What I’m talking about is that barrier called “fear”. And we all have it to one
degree or another.

That’s right, regardless of where you’re at in your MLM career, if you’re not
moving forward it’s because you fear the end result – whether it’s fear of
failure or fear of success, whether it’s real or imagined.

Now, if you’ve got it and you’re like most people, you’ve looked for the
motivation to overcome it everywhere; books, magazines, audio programs,
videos, and yes, even your upline.

Well pay close attention because there′s good news. There is a solution to
overcoming fear and it’s already in you! It’s called ACTION.

Simply put, action creates motivation. Motivation seldom creates action.

- When your telephone looks like it weighs 500 lbs, pick it up anyway. It’ll

feel lighter next time.

- When your family and friends discourage you, keep going anyway. Your

success is more important.

- When you’re afraid your downline might actually explode! Build it anyway.

“When you do the thing you fear, the death of fear is certain.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

OK, no more excuses. Now, pick something you’ve been putting off. Pick
something that will make a profound difference in the success of your business
and just do it. Don’t think about, just go for it!

Beware of the 6.5 Million GBP Homework Scam

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Many people looking for an extra income can fall foul of home working scams these can range from stuffing envelopes to making products from home. The reason the schemes work so well is that most people want to earn money for doing virtually nothing, which is just not going to happen. Time and effort needs to put in to any type of work to achieve results and earn good money.

In the UK in 1994 two people set up a home working business offering home workers the chance to produce products for them at home. They charged £40 for the homework kit that consisted of all the materials to get started together with the instructions. Free materials would be sent ongoing providing the products came up to their standard. They had samples available for the home workers to see the standards required and offered the home workers a refund if they returned the materials unused to them within 14 days. It all sounds excellent with being able in 1994 to earn £5.95 per item produced.

What the home worker does not realise is that the companies offering this type of work use a percentage system. Let me explain.

1. A percentage of people do not continue:

If a homework company receives 100 orders for homework kits @ £40 that is £4000. Approximately 30% of the people that apply either put it to the back of the cupboard and say I will do it tomorrow or attempt it and understand that they are not entitled to a refund because they have used materials or say I will send it back unused tomorrow which doesn’t happen. The Company pockets £1200 for doing nothing!

2. Many people attempt the work even though they know they are not skilled enough:

Human nature is to have a go even though they know they will find it difficult to do and just give up. They send it back asking for a refund but are not entitled to one because they have used materials.

3. Some people will produce the items:

There are some people that will do a reasonable job on the first attempt but need to improve their work. This will be checked and rejected, but more materials will be supplied free of charge for them to continue. Some will give up at this point, some will continue.

4. Some people will produce the items up to standard:

Some home workers will complete the work up to the required standard and will be paid in full with more materials being sent to them to continue. These products purchased will be used as samples and the rest sold on for a profit.

5. People failing:

95% of people will fail with only 5% being paid. This particular Company made £6.5 million from 1994 to 1998 and was well documented in the National Press and on National T.V in the UK.

So beware of stuffing envelopes and produce goods at home including packing work.

Shaun Smith has been involved in the homework market for over 12 years and good eye for spotting the scams.

Overcoming Your Husband’s Objections to Telecommuting

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

If you are an aspiring work from home mom, you may have already heard these common objections from your husband (and perhaps that nagging mother in law):

We shouldn’t have to pay for an extra phone line.

We can’t afford to upgrade the computer.

The company should pay for the transcription equipment.

You will be wasting your time and not making a “real” income.

Why can’t you keep your “real job” / get a “real job”?

So how can you overcome these objections? It’s simple.

The secret is in numbers. Men understand figures and costs.

If you are presently working outside of the home, what kind of expenses do you have?

You may have car insurance on a second car you wouldn’t need. Add in the cost of routine maintenance, gas, repairs, eating out at lunch time, that coffee you grab on the way to work, professional clothing, dry cleaning, a second cell phone, and if you have children, DAYCARE! Note that these expenses are ongoing.

Now compare that to getting started with a telecommuting company as an independent contractor.

Once you have your home office set up, your only monthly expenses will be the added telephone line (if required), high speed internet (most people like to have that anyway), and the electricity you are using (which is a very minimal amount).

Not everyone has these figures readily available, so I thought I would ask my good friend to share her monthly expenses from when she worked outside of the home as compared to what her current expenses are.

Working Outside of the Home

Gas - $78 (drives an average of 30 miles a day, or 650 miles a month)

Insurance on second vehicle - $107

Car payment on second vehicle - $289

Maintenance allowance $7.00 (towards the cost of routine oil changes)

Daycare (1 kid) - $540

Clothing - $60 (towards a yearly budget)

Cell Phone - $80

Lunches - $130 (She ate out roughly three times a week)

Coffee – $76 (She stopped every day at Starbucks for a __mocha)

TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES - $1367

INCOME - $2080 at 40 hours per week and $12/hour

PROFIT – only $713 for an entire month!

Working from Home

The car was sold, so she eliminated the costs of gas, insurance, repairs, and the hefty car payments. Her son no longer went to daycare. She could go to work in her sweats, eliminating the need for work wear. She discontinued her cell phone service as soon as the contract was up and she eats lunch at home and makes her own coffee. She is saving a bunch of money!

However, there are a few expenses she now has to include:

High-speed internet - $39

Second phone line - $25

Coffee from home - $20

Lunches at home - $60

Now we will calculate her income at a slightly lower hourly rate, as telecommute jobs typically pay around $9/hour. To be realistic, we will also reduce the working hours to 30, as that is more typical of working from home.

TOTAL MONTHLY EXPENSES - $144

INCOME - $1170 at 30 hours per week

PROFIT – $1026 for an entire month!

What? More profit? Working less hours? What does that ultimately equate to?

A happier mom, which means a happier house because anyone who can work less and keep more of their paycheck will want to jump for joy!

Answering Short Online Surveys For Fun And Profit

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

The other night I was sitting in the living room and my wife and I, as we often do, had our laptops open and were searching around the Internet and trying to find something to get into. Now I have been in Internet Marketing for years so this is really something that we do often to try to find avenues to make some additional funds. Suddenly I heard sounds coming from my wife’s computer that sounded like cash registers and party favors. I asked her what she was doing and to my surprise she told me that she was filling out surveys online to make some money and try to win some prizes.

This, it turns out, is a huge business and people are not only making a couple dollars here and there by filling out these short surveys but they are winning awesome prizes like loads of cash and vacations. It isn’t unusual that you will find that people are walking away with some cash in their pockets just for answering short surveys. But where can you find these surveys and how do you know when they are legitimate?

Many times you will find companies that will send you these surveys to take on an ongoing basis. There are dozens of them out there and they offer rewards that range from prizes and points to cash for every survey you fill out. Sometimes you can get cash just for signing up for one of these free services that let you answer short surveys for money. Finding the ones that are legitimate requires some research but it is well worth the effort.

So go ahead and try your hand and filling out surveys for cash. It’s great fun and when you land in the right company you will find that the surveys just keep coming and coming.

Tim spends his time finding unique ways for people to profit from the Internet and is following a life long dream of being an author.

MLM Training - Beat Your Competition With This MLM Prospecting Tip

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

You make yourself distinguished in network marketing (and any business for that matter) by knowing your prospects. This also shows that you are “interested in them.”

I have found that prospects are most willing to give out the majority of their information, such as cell phone number, hours they work, the pattern of their week, personal likes/dislikes, their family, etc., in the first two times you talk to them. This information is what you use to build a relationship with them. But you have to earn the right to ask for this additional information.

Continuing with the Hot Prospecting Tip Series, Tip #5 is: Early in the prospecting cycle, get as much information as you can. It may be more difficult to get the information later on. Why? Because early on it’s just the two of you talking and getting to know one another - no other person has interfered and said anything negative about your MLM business or you. Very often, as time progresses other people make comments that can cause your prospect to hesitate.

Here is the type of information you want on the first or second call:

•Phone number (home and cell)
•Email address
•Hours that they are at work
•Hours they are at home
•When is their private time that you do not call?
•What is the pattern of their day, week, etc.?
•Children’s name(s)
•What spouse does professionally
•Hobbies and interests

You can also ask for more personal information. If you find out that person’s hobby is golf, write down: Bob likes golf. If in the conversation you hear a baby crying in the background, ask something like, “How old is your child? Boy or girl? Oh, what is her name?” You should not sound like you’re interrogating but like you’re truly interested. There’s a difference.

Each prospect is different; listen carefully and know when you are pushing too hard. If you’re someone who follows my training, this may sound a lot like Communication Quality #4 in Professional Inviter: Use the right amount of assertiveness.

You are being too aggressive with prospects if you outright say, “What’s your cell phone number?” Your prospect will feel uncomfortable and probably will not give their information if you approach them this way.

But let’s suppose you went through a good greeting and qualifying and you find out what your prospect wants–so you invite them to a meeting, or to watch a video about your MLM business.

Here is an example of earning your right to ask for more information: You say, “There’s a video you need to see that can solve this. It explains a lot about what you want.” Give information about how they can watch the video.

Then say, “When would be a good time for us to talk after you′ve looked at it?” That prospect says, “Tomorrow at 3:00 pm.” And you say, “Then I’ll call you tomorrow at 3:00 pm. What is the best number to reach you?” Very often they will give you their cell phone number as an alternative number. You wouldn’t be too assertive if you asked for additional information like this.

When you’re going to meet with them you could also say, “Let me give you my cell number just in case we can’t find each other.” Give your number then ask, “Do you have a cell number?”

During your first greeting you can (and I recommend it) ask things like, “What’s your typical day like?” Or, “Do you have any days off during the week?”

The bottom line is to find out about THEM, what THEY like to do and then use that information to build a common ground. This is what it means to be “interested” and not “interesting.” Once you have this information it will be much easier to determine if the person qualifies for your MLM business.

Building good relationships isn’t hard, we’ve been doing it all our lives. Just learn to approach your prospect as you would anyone else you want to build a personal relationship with and this too will become second nature.

How to Earn Extra Income Online - Lesson 4

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

“Anyone Interested in Buying? Where Can You Find the Products?”

The next question would be… would anyone buy the related products?

Let’s get back to our example “easter flower”. What do you think? Would anyone buy easter flowers..? Or perhaps you know there are many people who are dying to buy books on growing easter flowers..? If the answer is yes, then you’ve got yourself a potential market for “easter flower”.

Next question is… are there florists, or holticultural grower, or bedding plants that provide easter flowers? Suppose there are… your next job is to find out whether they have Affiliate programs or not. For this, you can again take advantage of Google’s service. Do a search for “easter flower” in Google and review the results. Read the descriptions of each link result. They should tell you a lot of things. You don’t have to screen through to the 10nth page though, the first 2 pages would be sufficient.

This is very important. As a beginning, selling your own products is too complicated. You have to create the products yourself, you have to take care of all the payments, the shipments, not to mention maintaining good relations with your customers…

Now that is a heavy start. Alternatively, you can sell somone else’s products and earn comission on every sale you make! There are a lot of Affiliate programs in the net, all you have to do is picking the solid ones. Separating the good ones from the bad ones need a little extra work, but we will come to that!

I think it’s enough for today’s lesson, isn’t it?

Basically, you have to repeat these steps with the other 2 interests (if you have any) and then decide your profitable niche. But don’t do it until you finished the next lesson!

Before we continue, let me recap our previous lessons a little…

* You are aware now that your hobby could be a goldmine in the cyberspace.

* It takes money to earn money. Hence, you have to allocate your time and money wisely.

* Create a profitable niche for your hobby.

* The best place to start is joining good Affiliate programs within your niche.

* This is a Read-Understand-and-Do-It lesson so please comprehend each lesson before continuing to the next lesson…

OK, let’s move to the next issue…

Networking Top Tips

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

1. Join several networking groups and attend as many of their events as possible. Regular attendance builds up good relationships very quickly.

2. Try and make sure you talk to at least one new person at each event you go to - don’t just stick with the people you already know.

3. Don’t expect that you will walk into a networking event and come out of it with a job or a new client. Networking takes time and patience.

4. Sticking your business card under the nose of everyone you meet is guaranteed to annoy them. Don’t go into your sales pitch straight away and always try to talk with someone rather than at them.

5. Show a genuine interest in other people and what they do and get to know them as people rather than as business opportunities.

6. Don’t disregard someone who doesn’t seem to be of immediate ‘use’ to you. You never know who they know or how they might help you.

7. Manners cost nothing so treat everyone as you would wish to be treated yourself. People buy from – and recommend! – people they like.

8. Be natural, be yourself and enjoy the opportunity to meet and learn from other business people.

9. Don’t be afraid to walk up to someone and start talking. They are there for the same reasons as you are and will probably be grateful that they didn’t have to make the first move.

10. At the end of the day, everyone is there to meet new people and make new contacts so don’t be afraid of politely ending a conversation with someone and moving on to someone else – they won’t be offended.

11. When giving someone your business card, you may want to consider giving them two – one to keep and one to pass on.

12. Try and find something you can do for the people you are talking to. Do you have a contact you can pass on that might help them with a problem they have? Do you know a good supplier who is just what they are looking for? People will remember you as friendly and helpful.

13. If you make a good contact at an event, make sure you follow it up. Send them an email, make a quick phone call – it doesn’t matter how you do it but always, always follow up.

14. Don’t forget about online networking. Join some business forums, put up some posts. You’ll start to recognise some names and you may find that they are going to an event you will be attending which gives you a head start as you know someone already before you walk through the door.

And finally - Listen! If you only take one tip away from this article, it’s got to be this one. If you’re too busy trying to think about what you’ve got to say next, you might just miss a golden opportunity. You’ll learn a lot more by listening and people will be impressed with someone who has obviously paid attention.

In summary, forget the sell, sell, sell - take the pressure off yourself by approaching the event as a fun opportunity to meet like-minded people and always remember that you get back what you give.

Happy networking!

Give Them The GOOD Flu

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

What do you need to succeed in MLM more than anything else?

You’re probably thinking things like the best company, best product, best pay plan, duplicable system, etc. And you’re right, all those things are important. But you can have ALL those things and if I don’t, I’ll outperform you at least 200 to 1 if I have at least one advantage. Want to know what it is?

Think of the first celebrity that comes to your mind. Someone that you’re a fan of, doesn’t matter who it is. Now imagine they joined your MLM tomorrow. How would they do?

Would they fail or succeed? Most likely they’d be successful, right? How? How would they do it?

Would they recruit? Sell? “Close”? Prospect? Three-way calls to their upline?

Probably not. Yet they would still be successful. Why? Because they have ONE THING. And when you have it, you’ll be at least as successful as they are. What is it?

INFLUENCE.

See if you agree with these online definitions of the word influence:

a power to affect persons or events, especially power based on prestige etc “used her parents′ influence to get the job”

causing something without direct or apparent effort

to have and exert influence or effect; “The artist’s work influenced the young painter”

a cognitive factor that tends to have an effect on what you do; “her wishes had a great influence on his thinking″

determine: shape or influence; give direction to the effect of one thing on another; “the influence of mechanical action”

one having power to influence another; “she was the most important influence in my life”;

to induce into action by using one’s charm

Not so long ago, when you were a teenager, you were probably a good kid. The people who know and love you would probably agree. But we all went through a phase where we were affected one way or another by the behavior of others. Maybe they were celebrities. Maybe they were other relatives. Or maybe they were just the “cool kids”; the ones who smoked, drank, cussed, or stole. And God help us, for some reason we wanted to be like these people.

But our parents stopped that in short order, right? And what did they say? “That person is a bad _________ on you.”

I learned from Merck (the pharmaceutical company) that the word flu (short for “influenza”) comes from an Italian word that we use now to mean influence. The original word described the ancient belief that influenza was controlled by the stars. We now know that the flu is caused by a virus.

When you get it, it affects the way you think, feel, look and act. It affects they way your body responds. See its connection to the word “influence”?

Now, in MLM, how can we affect the way people think, feel, look and act? NOT with the world’s best product, company, or compensation plan. You need all that and MORE. But it varies from person to person. So how do you find out what it is from each individual?

That’s the good news: THEY’LL TELL YOU.

They’ll do it because it’s as natural as breathing. They want what’s important to THEM, and to get it, they’ll gladly tell you what it is— if you let them know that you will help them get it.

Not “getting them in your deal”. Not “plugging them in”. By going to work for them… NOW.

See, you’re not “getting” them, they’re “getting” YOU. That’s the only way you’re gonna have influence. In other words, you don’t “get” the flu, the flu “gets” YOU.

For THEM to get YOU, you need the influence that you get from your ability to help them, and that affects the way they look, think, feel, and act. I don’t care whoever told you whatever about MLM, you don’t “get” anybody to do anything. You let THEM get YOU to help them get WHATEVER THEY WANT.

You’ve got to give them a new kind of flu, not one that makes them sick, but one that makes them BE well and DO well. Give ‘em the GOOD flu!

How and Why the WAHM Should Interview Herself

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Having faith in your service or product is not the only thing in life.

You need to have faith in yourself, as a worker. You need to know, if you would hire yourself to do the job. Sounds like a simple answer. It is not. Interviewing yourself can expose holes in your resume that you may have never noticed. Polish your sales figures by polishing your resume, with yourself.

Get it in Writing!

No, you do not need to mail a letter to yourself or sign a contract to yourself. But there is a little bit of role-play involved. You must try to imagine you are looking to get a job done. Who would you want to give your money to? Write down a set of questions that you would like answered by someone you would hire to do your job. Do not answer them, just yet. When you have finished, set the list aside for a few days. You will have a more honest mind-set, when you do set down to answer the questions.

Be honest!

We all know that when you cheat, you are cheating no one but yourself. So stick to your guns and answer the questions honestly. You will notice that as you answer these questions, there may be some holes in your resume. This will also help you to determine if you should expand your education, take a class or seminar. Another tip is to take note of the items on your resume that you are most proud of. Have you forgotten to share these accomplishments with your customers?

Take Action!

Have an honest conversation with yourself. Would you want to hire yourself to do the job? Why or why not? What could you do to boost your WAHM resume? Have you been resting on your past successes too much? Are there local seminars or classes you could take to sharpen your skills? Is your industry or trade reading up to date? What about your networking contacts? Have you called them lately?

Again, you need more than just faith in your product to sell in this competitive world of entrepreneurs. You need to have faith in your own abilities. This will help you in your efforts, as you will have a newfound confidence that your competition probably does not have.

Bringing Money Making Ideas to Life

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

My cousin showed me something that she had made at home about a week ago. I can hardly contain my excitement when I saw it because it was a great idea. I know that she could make a lot of money from that brilliant idea. However, I don’t think she’ll listen to me, and she’ll soon forget that I thought it might make her some money. A lot of great money making ideas are lost because many people don’t believe in their own ideas.

I hope that my cousin will do something about her idea because it would be a hit with parents and children under ten. After all, it is not something that anyone has considered among many of the new money making ideas. She might never have to work again if she would only take the time to look into how to get her idea into the market.

There are some good money making ideas that other people are now doing. Remember that you can also take advantages of those ideas just as other people have. You have a good chance of making money because many ideas have room for growth, and the market is always growing.

A lot of people think that you are out of luck if you didn’t get in on the money making ideas when it first started. However, more new ideas and needs are being born, and many people are now making a living online. The Internet has a lot of potential when it comes to earning a profit.

Remember that making the first step is important if you decide to follow some of the money making ideas you see online. You should always take the time to research anything you come across before you get involved. Great money making ideas really exist out there, but there are also scammers who want to take advantage of anyone who comes along. Make sure that an opportunity is legitimate, and that there have been no complaints or scams attached to the people who are behind the business.
