Being A Mentor With A Servant’s Heart

Have you ever thought about how many different people you have influenced in your life? How many people will you influence today, tomorrow, next week, or even next year? Today I was asked that question. I had to stop and think about what my answer would be. But, even more important - how did I influence those people? Was my influence positive or negative? Was I able to help them in some way to solve a problem, to understand a situation, or even to take a step forward in becoming a more positive or successful person?

It could be said that I wear many different hats. My business card says that I am a Mentor, Writer, and Network Marketer. I work from home as a professional network marketer. I also write from my home and I mentor in a variety of situations. This gives me the flexibility to participate in many different learning experiences. I am currently enrolled in a class studying Living Spiritual Elders from a variety of traditions. In this class I am asked if I am a living spiritual elder. Do I influence in meaningful, positive ways the folks I interact with on a daily basis?

Yes, I am living. I know that. I eat and breathe, and walk and talk. Yes, I am an elder. My birth certificate tells me that. Now, the important question is, am I spiritual, or a mentor who influences in positive ways?

One of the groups I work with, Mentoring For Free, has the motto, “Be a Mentor with a Servant’s Heart”. In many ways I think that is how I define the word ‘spiritual’ when used in this context. For me a Living Spiritual Elder is someone who has become a Mentor with a Servant’s Heart. A person who can guide and influence everyone they meet in an extremely positive way; a way that causes their followers to make changes in their own lives that will in turn make changes in the lives of the people whom they meet, and thus this influence reaches out in ever expanding circles. What an important role we all play as we live our lives and interact with other people wherever we meet them.

Getting More Done with Phone Prospecting

Many people can spend so much time just getting ready to get ready when it comes time to get on the phone and call some business opportunity leads for our business. Often the phone can become a one hundred pound weight and we do not want to pick it up. Well it does not have to be that way. Phone prospecting can be very simple effective way of doing business when we are in the right setting.

The first thing you want to have in place when it comes to prospecting by the phone is your attitude. You attitude is very import for your success on the phone. It is your attitude that can actually make or break you. If you have a good attitude it will come across and if you have a bad attitude it will come across on the phone.

Here are a few tips I have for getting more done and achieving more when it comes to prospecting by phone.

Set up your hours – This just like any other thing in business needs to be done. If you do not schedule your time to sit down and make calls, then you will never get your calls done. Many people can just keep putting it off and putting it off unless they have it scheduled to make the calls.

Have a script – If you are new and tend to fumble your words this is a great thing to have. The important thing to get out of this is not to be a robot or actor on the phone, but to have a plan for what you want to accomplish on the phone. You can have bullet points if that makes it easier. Just do not pick up the phone and not know what you are going to say to the prospect when you phone. If you have this by memory then that’s great, go a head and make the calls.

Smile – smile on the phone when you call people because they can hear your smile over the phone. This sounds cheesy but its true.

Keep Stats – This is something that people tend to forget to do. If you are not tracking your results then you will never know how far you are coming along and where you need to improve. You want to track stuff such as dials, the number of people you connect with, call backs requests, appointments set, sales, and Nos.

Be the messenger – You want to have the mindset that you are only the messenger when you are calling people. You are not there to sell them on the first conversation. You want to only deliver the message to them, which is the information they requested from you. Remember that these prospects have requested and asked you to call them back with the information they wanted. You are not intruding on them. You are the messenger.

Internet Marketing Vs Network Marketing?

Which one do you want to venture into?

Internet business? Or, network marketing business?

In my opinion, you have to find out what you really want (money, good contact, getting new knowledge etc.). Then learn and investigate. Yes, you might fail in either one of both - be it in network marketing or internet marketing. But sometimes, you don’t really fail but you’re actually progressing towards your goals.

Let me give you an analogy. You build a website and do lots of traffic generations, and you are spending your hard-earned money for two months now. Results - no sale. No income.

Then you quit, put down your website and look for other avenues of income.

What you didn’t know was…

If you keep doing what you′ve been doing, you will make your first sale on the third month, fourth month and so on. You will be generating income from your internet business. But, this all will never happen if your story was written only until month 2.

You might think that this story is fictitious and yeah, a story to make you feel good but nothing more than that, but what if I said that this actually happened to me? To tell you the truth, it really did happen to me and I hope it can be an inspiration to anyone reading this article too.

I made my first sale only after three months on the internet and by that time, I have spent lots of money powering up the business. But, it all is worth it now - knowing that I′ve got more than I invested before.

Back to internet marketing vs. network marketing…

My take is… find a way to do both.

I got a chance to read an ebook by Daegan Smith ( www.NetMLMProfit.com ) and I believe it will be a good start to know more about doing network marketing on the internet.

Daegan talks about lead generation from the Internet and building an effective website to drive quality prospects to your network marketing program. All of this can be setup once and can passively attract prospects over and over again. For some of you, these are not something new but it works for him and it will definitely work for you too.

If you study carefully, there are many other internet marketers joining or considering to join an internet based network marketing program. I know that they already make lots of money from their internet business, but why are they still looking into network marketing?

Probably it’s not money they are looking for.

Probably it’s because of the value in the network marketing program itself.

Probably because they are having fun just to be around successful people in another business field.

Sometimes - I Do Not Feel Like Responding

If you are sick and tired of cold calling leads, not making money, and recruiting
no one then this is one of the most important personal messages you’ll ever

I’d Like To Share Powerful information for creating real wealth in network marketing
business without all of the hassles and expenses of doing things the old way.
I’ve been through it all I’ve bought leads, I’ve done the whole warm marketing thing,
and the thing is I’ve seen it work, but it didn’t work for me and it just seemed like a lot
of grunt work for so little.

In the back of my mind I always knew there had to be a better way and I’m here

Ever since I started my network marking business I always heard the term “leverage” used
when referring to the opportunity a network marking business offered.
I was told that what made network marketing so powerful was the ability to
generate a virtually unlimited income by growing an organization below me that I
would get paid for creating.

I agreed it was a great idea and to be honest it’s what got me into the industry.
That’s the leverage that they talk about, i.e. getting paid for growing an
organization that would go out and do the lions share of the work while I would
get paid for it all. It sounded like a plan But when I got to work in creating this organization
the application didn’t quit match the idea.

The problem was I found it exceedingly hard to find the right people to join my
business who would go out and duplicate my efforts. The Cold Hard Truth . . .
One problem was it was hard to find the right type of people willing to take on a
new business venture and the other problem was when I did find those few
who were willing, they rarely, if ever, created that so called duplication.

Instead of finding powerful business builders to work with I ended running what
was essentially an adult day care business in my network marking business.
People who joined didn’t know what to do and when I told them what to do they
rarely did it or they did it wrong and to add salt to that injury they blamed me
when the advice I gave them that they didn’t follow correctly didn’t work.
It was my fault!

Ughh! All my time energy and effort spent to grow a viable business drained all
my energy and I ended up earning way less than my time was truly worth.
You may be able to identify with this. Here’s what I learned about what my sponsor
was teaching me. He taught me a duplicable system, but the truth, I came to see, was
that just because something was duplicable didn’t mean that it was effective.
Let me explain, the things I was taught to do were in fact easy to do, but they
were also, in fact, NOT effective. I was duplicating their results, but the missing link that
I didn’t see until after I had spent a considerable amount of money and time doing what
THEY said was this. . .

What THEY said was a waste of my time I didn’t know this until I tallied my results and
cross referenced them with other marketers out there. They all were experiencing the same
result I was. Here’s what I realized . . . They claim duplication and leverage in a network marking business, but knew very little about the basis of what these things even means. Duplication should not be based on how easy something is to do, but rather how effective it is. Leverage does not just apply to the compensation plan that they keep telling you
is SO awesome, it actually applies to much more. Here’s the missing link explained.

The missing link is leverage, but not the type of leverage they talk about, rather the REAL kind that gets results.
Leverage is what you create to help you grow your network marking business. In other words it’s the things you control that you have the ability to create leverage around. You don′t control your business’s compensation plan.
You do control your leads, where they come from, how you interact with them, and how you use them to create a favorable economic situation in your business.

Here’s what I mean. I failed in my first attempt, just as most network marketers do, because I tried to
use an ineffective system for success without all the information. I didn′t know that my business revolved around what I controlled, so what I did was . . . I gave my control up and paid handsomely to do it. Instead of generating leads on my own I paid lead companies a large sum of money to GIVE them to me. This was bad because I gave up the most important part of my business and got little in return except a list of names and phone numbers that I had no idea where
they REALLY came from and that I could do little with.

I came to realize in my business I had two things I needed to control and overcome to REALLY succeed
They were leads and money. And I was giving my money away for leads that I had no control over and, with
that, I left myself very little chance to actually succeed. I realized if I could create a situation where I could control my lead flow and have it actually produce a profit for me in my network marking business I would create a situation of
favorable economics. In other words . . . A situation where my lead flow and advertising capital would be infinite.
By doing this the only thing that could ever stop me from succeeding would be me.

There would be no one else to blame. If I couldn’t do it with all the leads I needed and all the money I needed then, well, that’s on me right? Good thing it more than worked and proven to be an immutable formula for REAL success!
If you can just understand what I’ve just written to you here then you′ll understand how to really dominate your business and create the level of income you desire in network marking business.

Now that I’ve gotten things under wraps in my business I’ve made it my personal goal to help a select few do the same.
Each month I hand select 5 to 10 people to teach my system for success to and I will accept you into this group this month if two things happen:

Let me explain why. My time is my most valuable asset, not my money. I only have so much time, but
I′ve found that money can be generated and regenerated virtually on demand following my model.

There are thousands of job opportunities and employment ads out there. Picking the right one can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. They all “guarantee” to make your dreams come true almost overnight. This is especially true of the home business opportunities out there.

If you want to be successful in your own business, forget about the instant millions you could make and the promises and just:

- pick one venture that really resonates with your values

- create a solid marketing plan

- and stick with it.

Think of all the ridiculous infomercials out there? The creators of most of those products make millions. Now if they can sell all those crazy inventions to a willing public, really think about what kind of money can be made by choosing a product that you really believe in and putting a solid marketing plan into action.

If you go on the internet you will see countless business opportunities, each promising to make you a millionaire almost overnight. How do you pick the one that will actually work for you? Well the first step is, as silly as this may seem, to decide. Just pick one and decide to stick with it.

It almost doesn’t matter which opportunity you decide on out of all the possible employment opportunities and job listings. The main factor is to pick one, create a solid marketing plan and stick with it. Remember the Pet Rock? The creator of that silly object made millions. Now if he can sell a rock to an unsuspecting public what could you do with a solid product, that you can be proud of?

The Second thing that you have to do is to stop buying every other opportunity that you find. They will all look good to you in the beginning, especially if you don’t see instant success with the one you chose. Put your credit card away and bring your focus and your energy back to your chosen project. Remember you actually put some thought into picking this one. Don’t second guess yourself.

Here is a helpful technique that can really help you absolutely explode your work at home business. Put a note on your computer that says, “What business am I in?” Then hand your credit card over to someone that you trust. If you want to buy something you must explain to this person what it is that you are buying and exactly how it will help your online business. You are not permitted to use it to buy any other “million dollar idea.”

Set a daily action plan of precisely what you need to accomplish to move your business forward. Also outline a weekly plan and a monthly plan. You need to see the big picture and the small details. The Art of Building Your Downline – How Numbers Add Up

First of all, I’m not going to waste your time (or mine, for that matter) by illustrating the history of MLM, or by insisting on other general aspects.

If you have no idea what MLM represents, if you are unaware as to the meaning of the terms “upline”, “downline”, “referrer” or “referral”, then you need to be doing some serious reading (I suggest bookmarking this article, and documenting yourself on MLM in general before reading further).

OK, you know what MLM is all about, and want to start earning some money.

You see headline after headline, promise after promise: “earn thousands of dollars monthly by simply referring your friends”/”achieve financial freedom by joining our program”.

Before joining any MLM, you need to stop fooling yourself into thinking you will become rich overnight and understand what exactly you are getting yourself into.

After all, you can’t win at a game without knowing the rules, can you?

Are high earnings possible with MLM programs? Yes.

But, things look a lot easier on paper than they are in practice.

A 4-figure income is possible, even 5-figures are not out of reach, but don’t think you will ever even get close to such earnings just by inviting a couple of friends to join under you and leaving things at that.

As you know, MLM stands for “MultiLevelMarketing”. What does the term “MultiLevel” suggest?

Exactly, the fact that you earn not just from people you invite directly, but also from the ones your referrals invite, and so forth (the actual number of “levels” is different from program to program).

The name of the game is having a healthy downline, in other words, having active referrals (referrals capable of promoting/ referring).

Do you think you can succeed by simply inviting a couple of people to join under you and leaving it at that?

Think twice, you have about the same changes of “getting lucky” as you do at winning the lottery.

The bottom line is that very few members of your downline, if any, will actually prove to be active promoters, and just standing by will not do you any good.

If you want a solid downline, you cannot expect things to work themselves out, because they simply won’t, and your earnings will reflect that attitude.

“Passive income”, doesn’t mean that you earn money for doing absolutely nothing, it means that, if you do your job right, at a certain point, your downline will naturally increase, without you actively participating in the process.

Note the wording: “at a certain point”

It’s reaching that “certain point” that separates winners from losers.

And what exactly is your job, as the referrer, you ask?

It most certainly isn’t inviting people to join your downline and leaving things at that.

Your job is training your downline, offering them all the tools and support they need to become active promoters. Don’t assume your referrals are born promoters, assume the contrary and train them to become such, the results will be well worth your efforts.

How to train them?

First of all, they need your full support. By e-mail, by phone, by video conference, by whatever means necessary. Don’t turn your back on them, answer all of their concerns calmly, patiently and don’t keep them waiting too long. Fast, quality support can and will get you far.

Secondly, set yourself as an example. Show them how it’s done, explain your techniques, share your results. Nothing encourages referrals to be active more than having their upline as an example.

Also, add a community “feel” to your downline, make your referrals feel right at home. Set up a special forum for them to interact with another, and, of course, with you, hold conference calls, anything you can think of that could encourage them to stay in contact with you, aswell as with their own referrals.

Another important aspect: not all of your referrals are expert web-designers, in fact, you will find that a lot of them would like to promote their referral link online, yet have problems with starting a website. As you imagine, if you provide them with the tools, you have another active member as a part of your team.

Be supportive, be unique (you have to, if you want people to choose you as their upline over another person), be understanding and calm, and your odds at success are looking better and better.

For example, the internet breakdown, problem with your computer or any other crisis situation in which it is extremely difficult for you to make it on the right day or in the right way. In such a case the probability of a new party to accept your excuse will be low than the party with which you have developed goodwill. So customer satisfaction satisfies both of the goals: Short-term and Long-term. So you get work in present and you are very much probable to get it again.
